Please do select the connect wire in electric circuit which is specified in the
manual to minimize the interference of electromagnetic wave.
Operation of this instrument may cause electromagnetic interference on the
electronic equipment nearby such as TV Set or radio. If you suspect that this
instrument is responsible for any electromagnetic wave interference, turn off the
power of this instrument to check it by observing the signal received of TV or radio.
Remark: Electromagnetic waves generated by the instrument will not affect
people's normal life, and meets the nation’s standard. Under good operation
environment, you can use the instrument without worries.
If the interference of electromagnetic wave is confirmed, you can try the
following ways to improve.
· Make the troubled equipment such as TV or radio apart from the other site.
· Avoid using same power line.
Optical path system includes light source, lens, grating, sample cell and detector
board and so on. Optical path accuracy is related with instrument’s performance and
parameters, and only professional person can calibrate optical path system by tools
and equipment.
This manual describes XB-10 and VIS-20 Spectrophotometer’s optical path
system. And we suggest that only professional serviceman can align optical path.

XB-10’s exit lens assembly is different from VIS-20’s. But their functions are
same. Spectrum focuses on grating and cross the cuvette in the sample compartment.
Use filter to ensure light’s monochromaticity. Two filters (yellow one and white
one) are placed in the XB-10 Spectrophotometer to test high wavelength region, and
one black filter is placed in the VIS-20.
Exit lens assembly includes filter, holder, lens and exit slit.

5. Replacement and Maintenance of Lamp Source ASSY
VIS-20 Spectrophotometer
: Switch off the power (OFF), and let the lamp cools down.
: Loose off the screw and remove the cover, as Fig.5-1 shown.
Fig.5-1
: Loose off the two screws on the cover, as Fig.5-1 (1) shown, and keep the
cover vertically upward, as Fig.5-2 shown.

Fig.5-3
: Loose off the two screws on the WI lamp holder (as Fig.5-2(2) shown). Hold
the old WI lamp by forefinger and thumb (as Fig.5-3(3) shown) gently pull it up, and
remove it from the lamp holder.
: Check and replace the new WI lamp. The key is that the new WI lamp
filament and pin must be same as the old lamp ones. If there is difference, please
correct to prevent displacement of the optical path.
: When check or replace the new WI lamp, please wear soft gloves or hold the
new WI lamp by soft cloth. Don’t leave the fingerprint on the new WI lamp.
: When installing the new WI lamp, push down the pin in the lamp holder.
: Reverse the removal procedures to install.

5.4 Clean of cover
Please don’t place the chemical reagent or sample on the cover of the instrument.
In case chemical reagent or sample is spilled on the cover, remove the chemical
by a piece of soft cloth or whip firstly, clean the cover with water or mild detergent
and then dry it as soon as possible to avoid corrosion.
▲ Attention:
1. Don’t spill out liquid on the LCD panel and keypad assembly.
2. Please unplug the power cable before cleaning the cover.
After measurement of the sample, rinse the cell with distilled water thoroughly
and wipe the cell with soft cloth.
Please place the cell in the sealed box and put the desiccant in it when storing the
cell. You also can place the cell in the box filled with distilled water such as beaker,
cover the cap. Please take note that the storage place of the box must be clean.
Clean the transparent side of the cell with Alcohol/Ether in the ratio of 1 to 1 as
required.
Replace the new cuvette if there is nick or stain.
Serious dirty and poor environment will contaminate the sample compartment,
which effects photometry accuracy and stability. So clean it if necessary. Before
wiping, clean the hands. As following steps to clean the lens.
Steps
(1) Turn off the instrument and disconnect the power cable.
(2) Open the cover of the sample compartment and remove the cell holder.
(3) Wipe off the dirty with a piece of soft paper or cloth soaked with
Alcohol/Ether (mixed in the ratio of 1 to 1) and dry it.
(4) Install the cell holder.
△ Cautions
(1) When cleaning the lens, it only needs to wipe off the side facing to the
sample compartment. The other side is sealed and it is difficult to be contaminated.
(2) Do not remove the lens or lens assembly to prevent the displacement of
optical path.
(3) Do not leave the fingerprints on the lens.

6. Routine Maintenance and Trouble Shooting
Correct use and maintenance ensures that the instrument works and extends the
lifetime of the instrument.
1) Operate the instrument according to the instruction manual strictly. Adopt
containment to keep the instrument work normally.
2) Compile operation rule and regulate user action.
3) Prohibit the excess liquid sample placed in the cuvette.
4) Know well about function and instruction of auxiliary equipment and keep the
replaced spare parts in a safe place.
5) Wipe the cover by warm water and soft cloth, and do not use alcohol, ether
and acetone. Please use dust cover when the instrument does not work.
6) Check the instrument regularly.

8 . Quality Guarantee
(1)Guarantee Scope (a) Free maintenance to instrument noumenon for errors caused by
fabrication fault.
(b) When maintenance, some substitute may be used and some damaged
parts might be replaced with identical parts instead of on-site service.
(c) Sometimes the same products like computer and printer used in
the instrument are not able to be supplied, because they are
eliminated in the market.
