E. NARRATIVE
'
: On January 6, 2021 , CDU 63 responded to the United States Capitol in response to a hostile crowd attempting to gain entry
! into the building. Once on scene, the platoon dawned their Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) issued helmets and gas
; masks and were directed to move through the hostile crowd. The platoon was assaulted by means of physical force, blunt
; force and thrown objects. The platoon eventually made its way to the lower western terrace exit of the Capitol building
i where they assisted in forming a police line. While in the lower western terrace exit way, the rioters began assaulting the
! officers again with physical force, blunt objects, edged weapons, tasers, chemical irritants, thrown projectiles and explosive
; devices in an attempt to unlawfully enter the U.S. Capitol building. Officers denied entry and defended themselves by
; means of straight strikes, shield strikes, baton strikes, ASP strikes (open/closed mode) and OC spray. The individuals on
, which force was used were able to return to the crowd and avoid identification or apprehension. (CCN# 21-002555) The
, force used was at the same location, the U.S. Capitol Building, 1st Street, SE, and are being considered the same event.
