_ , of the Metropolitan Police Department for the District of Columbia,
was interviewed via phone. After being advised of the identity of the
interviewing Agent and the nature of the interview, Smith provided the
following information:

[Agent's Note: Smith was asked to recall a specific instance that


occurred between 13:39 local and 13:41 local during the storming of the
US Capitol on 6 January 2021 when a line of police officers, possibly
including Smith, were sprayed with what was identified as bear spray.]

Smith couldn't recall the specific individual who sprayed him. He


recalled being sprayed. He was unable to continue his duties following being
sprayed by bear spray. It took him a while to recover and be able to return
to the line.

Overall it took a day or two in order to recover completely from being


sprayed. It took Smith around a week and a half in order to completely
recover from the cumulative effects from the storming of the US Capitol. He
had not experienced any lasting effects from being sprayed.
