Introduction What I need At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
to know? 1. Define distance formula.
2. Solve the distance between two specific points Plotted on the cartesian plane.
3. Appreciate the process of solving the distance between two points on the
cartesian through a virtual treasure hunting activity.

Pre-Test.

Choose the letter

that you think best
answers each of the
following questions.
1.

3. Before the
lesson, ask the
student they
know how
indigenous
ground measure
lengths, time and
so on?

5.

What’s new?

Development What I know? Activity 2: Let me Formulate!

Direction: Perform the activity with your groupmates. Use ruler to connect the points
indicated. Do the task in 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, a member from each group must
discuss and explain their work.

For RUBRIC, See attached document.

6. What is distance
formula?

What’s in? Activity 3 - Lets exercise!

Direction: A virtual treasure hunting is going to happen. Solve the distances between
the places indicated so that you can hunt the treasure. Once all questions are answered
correctly, the group will receive 20 points.

Josie lives 4km away from City Hall. Every Saturday, she goes outside for a treasure
hunting activity. The location of the places are illustrated on the coordinate plane as
shown below.

Based from the given illustration, anwer the following to help her find treasures.

1.
How far
is Josie's
house
from
CABS?
Explain
your
answer.
2. How far
CAB
is CABS
from
Saint of
Polycarp
Church?
Explain
JOSIE'S your
HOUSE
answer.
3. How far
is Saint
of Polycarp Church from Iglesia ni Cristo- Lokal ng Cabuyao? Explain your
answer.
4. How far is Iglesia ni Cristo Lokal ng Cabuyao from MCGI?
5. What are the coordinates of the points corresponding to the all the places
located on the graph.

Where you able to help them hunt some treasures?

What is it? In solving the distance places, Pythagorean Theorem Formula is used, which the
distance fromula derived from.

Engagement What’s more? Activity 4- How far are we from each other?
Find the distance between each pair of points on the coordinate plane.

What other
enrichment
activities can
I engage it?
Assimilation What I have Directions – Answer the following question below.
learned? 1. How do we solve for the distance of two points on a coordinate plane?
