The introduction should be around 10-20% of the total speech
duration and is designed to capture the audience’s attention
and introduce the topic.

The main points should make up 40-60% of the speech and


provide further detail into the topic. The body should begin
with a transition, include evidence or examples and have
supporting details.

Concluding with a recap or takeaway should take around 10-


20% of the speech duration.a

ü delivered with exact words/message
ü read manuscript reduces eye contact

ü appropriate in receiving awards, welcoming
very important dignitaries, giving wedding toast,
and other situations requiring delivery of short
speeches
