The Divine Mission Night: The Twenty-Seventh Night of Rajab

The twenty-seventh night in Rajab is the night of the Holy Prophet’s Mission. This highly
blessed night is called ‘laylat al-mab`ath’, which stands for the beginning of the Holy
Prophet’s Mission of promulgating the true religion of Almighty Allah. Recommended acts
on this night are as follows:
First: Shaykh al-±£siy, in his book of ‘Mi¥b¡h al-Mutahajjid,’ has quoted Imam
Muhammad al-Jaw¡d (a.s) as saying, “There is a night in Rajab which carries for people the
goodness that is more preferable than all that which may be subjected to sunlight. It is the
twenty-seventh night of Rajab. One who does (acts of worship) at this night will have the
reward of him who has worshipped Almighty Allah for sixty years.” When the Imam (a.s)
was asked about the kind of acts at this night, he answered, “After you offer the `Ish¡' Prayer
and take some sleep, & wake up at any hour before midnight. You may then offer a prayer
of twelve Rak`ahs in each of which you may recite Surah al-Fatiah and any other
S£rah from the al-Mufa¥¥al, which begins with S£rah of Muhammad (No.
47) up to the end of the Holy Qur'¡n. You should separate each couple of
Rak`ahs with Tasl¢m. After accomplishing this prayer, you should recite
S£rahs of al-F¡tihah, al-Falaq, al-N¡s, al-Tawh¢d, al-K¡fir£n, al-Qadr, and
ªyat al-Kursiy each seven times. After all this, you may recite the following
All praise be to Allah, Who has alhamdu lill¡hi alladhy
not taken to Himself a son, lam yattakhidh waladan
،‫خذْ َولَدًا‬
ِ َّ‫اْلحَ ْمدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَت‬
and Who has no partner in the wa lam yakun lahu
Sovereignty, shar¢kun f¢ almulki
،ِ‫شرِيكٌ فِي الْمُ ْلك‬
َ ُ‫َولَمْ َيكُنْ لَه‬
nor has He any protecting wa lam yakun lahu
friend through dependence. waliyyun mina aldhdhulli
ِّ‫َولَمْ َيكُنْ لَهُ َولِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّل‬
And magnify Him with all
magnificence.
wa kabbirhu takb¢ran .‫وَكَبِّرْهُ َتكْبِيرًا‬
O Allah: verily I beseech You in
the name of the situations of
all¡humma inn¢ as-aluka َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْ َألُك بِمَعَاقِددِ ِِد ِّك‬
bima`¡qidi `izzka `al¡
Your Dignity on the pillars of
Your Throne,
ark¡ni `arshika َ‫شك‬
ِ ْ‫َِلَى أَرْكَانِ َِر‬
and in the name of Your wa muntah¡ alrrahmati
utmost mercy in Your Book, min kit¡bika
،َ‫وَمُنْتَهَى الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْ كِتَاِبك‬

،ِ‫َوبِاسْ ِمكَ األَِْظَمِ األَِْظَمِ األَِْظَم‬
Greatest, the Greatest,
and in the name of Your
wa dhikrika ala`l¡ ala`l¡
Mention—the Highest, the
ala`l¡
،‫َوذِ ْكرِكَ األَِْلَى األَِْلَى األَِْلَى‬
Highest, the Highest,
and in the name of Your wa bikalim¡tika
Words, the perfect, altt¡mm¡ti
ِ‫َوِبكَلِمَاِتكَ التَّامَّات‬
that You may bless an tu¥alliya `al¡
Muhammad and his Household muhammadin wa ¡lihi
ِ‫أَنْ ُتصَلِّيَ َِلَى ُمحَمَّدٍ وَآلِه‬
and do to me that which befits wa an taf`ala by m¡ anta
You. ahluhu
.ُ‫َوأَنْ تَفْ َعلَ بِي مَا َأنْتَ أَهْلُه‬
You may then submit your desires.
It is also recommended to have a Ghusl at this night.
Second: The best act that is ever done at this night is to visit the holy tomb of Imam `Al¢
ibn Ab¢-±¡lib (a.s). As will be mentioned in the section of the Ziy¡rahs,
three forms of Ziy¡rah will be mentioned for visiting the tomb of Imam
`Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n (a.s) at this night:
Ziy¡rah of Imam `Ali on the Divine Mission Day and night:
Shaykh al-Muf¢d, Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s, and al-Shah¢d have mentioned
that the following form of ziy¡rah of Imam `Al¢ (a.s) at the twenty-
seventh night of Rajab When you intend to visit the holy mausoleum
of Imam `Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n (a.s) on the Divine Mission Day or the
night before it, you may stop at the gate of the holy dome, facing the
holy tomb, and say the following:
I bear witness that there is
no god save Allah, alone
ash-hadu an l¡ il¡ha ill¡ ‫حدَهُ ال‬
ْ َ‫أَشْ َهدُ أَنْ ال إِلهَ ِإالّ اللّهُ و‬
all¡hu wahdahu l¡ shar¢ka
without having any
associate.
lahu ،ُ‫شرِيكَ لَه‬

And I bear witness that wa ash-hadu ann ُ‫َشدد َهدُ أَنَّ ُمحَمَّدددًا َِبْدددُه‬
ْ ‫َوأ‬
Muhammad is His servant muhammadan `abduhu
and messenger, wa ras£luhu ،ُ‫وَرَسُولُه‬
And that `Ali ibn Abu Ta¡lib, wa anna `aliyy bna aby َ‫َوأَنَّ َِلِيَّ بْنَ َأبِي طَالِدٍٍ أَمِيدر‬
the commander of the §¡libin am¢ra almu´min¢na
believers, is the brother of `abdu all¡hi wa akhw
‫الْمُددمْمِنِينَ َِبْدددُ اللّددهِ َوأَ ُددو‬
His Messenger, ras£lihi
،ِ‫رَسُولِه‬
And that the immaculate
Imams from his offspring
wa anna al-a’immata ِ‫َوأَنَّ األئِمَّةَ الطَّا ِهرِينَ مِنْ ُولْددِه‬

are Allah’s arguments
against His creatures.

You may then enter the mausoleum, stop at the tomb, turn the face toward the tomb and

make the kiblah direction between your shoulders, and repeat the takb¢r statement on
hundred times:

epitome of the pious ones.

chief of the Prophets’
successors.

secret of Allah’s judgment,
And the guardian and
keeper of Allah’s
knowledge,
And the envoy of Allah
among His creatures.
I bear witness that you
performed the prayers,
And you paid the zak¡t,
And you enjoined the
right,
And you forbade the
wrong,
And you followed the
Messenger,
And you recited the Book
as exactly as it must be,
And you conveyed the
messages of Allah,
And you fulfilled your
covenant with Allah,
And the Words of Allah
were accomplished by you,
And you strove in Allah’s way
in the best manner,
And you advised for the sake of
Allah and for the sake of His
Messenger—peace be upon him
and his Household,
And you sacrificed yourself
with steadfastness and seeking
of Allah’s reward,
And struggling for the defense
of Allah’s religion,
And protecting Allah’s
Messenger—peace be upon him
and his Household,
Seeking for that which is with
Allah,
wa ma`dina hukmi all¡hi
wa sirrhi
،ِ‫حكْمِ اللّهِ وَسِرَّه‬

،ِ‫وَتَمَّتْ ِبكَ كَلِمَاتُ اللّه‬
wa j¡hadta f¢ all¡hi haqq
َّ‫وَجَاهَدددْتَ فِددي اللّددهِ حَددق‬
jih¡dihi
،ِ‫جِهَا ِه‬
wa na¥ahta lill¡hi wa ‫صدلَّى‬
َ ِ‫صحْتَ لِلّهِ َوِلرَسُولِه‬
َ ‫َوَن‬
liras£lihi ¥all¡ all¡hu
`alayhi wa ¡lihi ،ِ‫اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬
wa judta binafsika ¥¡biran
‫صددابِرًا‬
َ َ‫ْسددك‬
ِ ‫وَجُدددْتَ بِنَف‬
muhtasiban
‫ُمحْتَسِبًا‬
muj¡hidan `an d¢ni all¡hi ،ِ‫ُمجَاهِدًا َِنْ ِينِ اللّه‬
muwaqqiyan liras£li all¡hi ُ‫مُوَقِّيًا ِلرَسُولِ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّده‬
¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa
¡lihi ،ِ‫َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬
§¡liban m¡ `inda all¡hi ،ِ‫طَالِبًا مَا ِِ ْندَ اللّه‬

And desiring for that which r¡ghiban f¢m¡ wa `ada
Allah has promised. all¡hu
،ُ‫رَاغِبًا فِيمَا وَ َِدَ اللّه‬

You also sealed your life as wa ma¤ayta lilldhy kunta

ِ‫وَ َمضَيْتَ لِلَّدذِي كُنْدتَ َِلَيْده‬
martyr, `alayhi shah¢dan
‫شَهِيدًا‬
And as witness and as wa sh¡hidan wa
witnessed; mashh£dan
،‫وَشَاهِدًا وَمَشْهُو ًا‬

So, may Allah reward you on fajaz¡ka all¡hu `an ِ‫ج َاكَ اللّهُ َِنْ رَسُولِهِ وََِن‬
َ ‫َف‬
behalf of His Messenger and ras£lihi wa `ani alisl¡mi
Islam and the people of Islam wa ahlihi min ¥idd¢qin
ٍ‫صددِّيق‬
ِ ْ‫اإلسْالمِ َوأَهْلِدهِ مِدن‬
with the most favorite reward. af¤ala aljaz¡‘i
.ِ‫ج َاء‬
َ ‫ضلَ اْل‬
َ ‫َأ ْف‬
I bear witness that you were ash-hadu annaka kunta
ِ‫أَشْ َهدُ أَنَّكَ كُنْدتَ أَوَّلَ الْقَدوْم‬
the first to embrace Islam, awwala alqawmi isl¡man
،‫إِسْالمًا‬
And you were the most sincere
in faith,
wa akhla¥ahum ‘¢m¡nan ،‫َوأَ ْ َلصَهُمْ إِيمَانًا‬
And you were the most
confident,
wa ashaddhum yaq¢nan ،‫َوأَشَدَّهُمْ يَقِينًا‬
And you were the most Allah-
fearing,
wa akhwafahum lill¡hi ،ِ‫َوأَ ْ َوفَهُمْ لِلّه‬
And you were the most
steadfast (against ordeals for wa a`¨amahum `an¡‘an ،ً‫َوأَِْظَمَهُمْ َِنَاء‬
the sake of Islam)
And you were the most
watchful for Allah’s
wa ahwa§ahum `al¡ ِ‫َسدولِ اللّده‬
ُ ‫َوأَحْ َوطَهُمْ َِلَى ر‬
ras£li all¡hi ¥all¡ all¡hu
Messenger—peace be upon him
and his Household,
`alayhi wa ¡lihi ،ِ‫صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬
And you were endowed with
the most favorable merits,
wa af¤alahum man¡qiba ،ٍَِ‫َوَأ ْفضَلَهُمْ مَنَاق‬
And you were the foremost of
everyone else in everything,
wa aktharahum saw¡biqa ،َ‫َوأَكْ َثرَهُمْ سَوَاِبق‬
And you were the owner of the
most elevated rank,
wa arfa`ahum darajatan ،ً‫َوأَ ْرفَعَهُمْ َرَجَة‬
And you were the owner of the wa ashrafahum
most honorable position, manzilatan
،ً‫ش َرفَهُمْ مَ ْن ِلَة‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
And you were the most
respected (by Almighty Allah wa akramahum `alayhi ،ِ‫َوأَ ْكرَمَهُمْ َِلَيْه‬
and His Messenger).
Thus, you became stronger
when they became weak,
faqaw¢ta h¢na wa hanw¡ ،‫فَقَوِيْتَ حِينَ وَهَنُوَا‬

And you abode by the course of
Allah’s Messenger—peace be
upon him and his Household.
I also bear witness that you
were the true vicegerent of him
(i.e. the Holy Prophet);
No one could ever compete
with you in this position in
spite of the existence of
hypocrites,
The despise of the unbelievers,
And the malice of the wicked.
You also managed the matters
when they failed to do so,
And you spoke (the truth)
when they stammered,
And you carried on with the
light of Allah when they
stopped.
Hence, he who follows you has
actually been led to the true
guidance.
You were the first to speak,
And you were the firmest in
refuting the rivals,
And you were the most
eloquent of them,
And you were the most
apposite in opinions,
And you were the most
courageous,
And you were the most
confident of them,
And you were the best of them
in deeds,
And you were the most learned
in affairs.
For the believers, you were
merciful father,
wa lazimta minh¡ja ras£li ِ‫َسدولِ اللّده‬
ُ ‫َوَل ِمْتَ مِنْهَداجَ ر‬
all¡hi ¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi
wa ¡lihi ،ِ‫صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬

ُ‫َوأَشْ َهدُ أَنَّكَ كُنْدتَ َلِيفَتَده‬
kunta khal¢fatahu haqqan
،‫حَقًّا‬
lam tun¡za` biraghmi
almun¡fiq¢na
،َ‫لَمْ تُنَا َزعْ ِبرَغْمِ الْمُنَافِقِين‬
wa ghay¨i alk¡fir¢na ،َ‫وَغَيْظِ اْلكَا ِفرِين‬
wa ¤ighni alf¡siq¢na ،َ‫َوضِغْنِ الْفَاسِقِين‬
wa qumta bilamri h¢na
fashilw¡
،‫َوقُمْتَ بِاأل ْمرِ حِينَ فَشِلُوَا‬
wa na§aqta h¢na
tata`ta`w¡
،‫َونَطَقْتَ حِينَ تَتَعْتَعُوَا‬
wa ma¤ayta bin£ri all¡hi
idh wa qafw¡
،‫وَ َمضَيْتَ بِنُورِ اللّهِ ِإذْ َوقَفُوَا‬
famani attba`aka faqadi
ahtad¡
،‫فَمَنِ اتَّبَ َعكَ فَ َقدِ اهْ َتدَى‬
kunta awwalahum
kal¡man
،‫كُنْتَ أَوَّلَهُمْ كَالمًا‬
wa ashaddhum khi¥¡man ،‫َوأَشَدَّهُمْ ِصَامًا‬
wa a¥wabahum man§iqan ،‫َوَأصْ َوبَهُمْ مَنْطِقًا‬
wa asaddhum raiyan ،‫َوأَسَدَّهُمْ َرأْيًا‬
wa ashja`ahum qalban ،‫شجَعَهُمْ قَلْبًا‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
wa aktharahum yaq¢nan ،‫َوأَكْ َثرَهُمْ يَقِينًا‬
wa ahsanahum `amalan ،ً‫َوأَحْسَنَهُمْ َِمَال‬
wa a`rafahum bila’um£ri ،ِ‫َوأَ ِْ َرفَهُمْ بِاألمُور‬
kunta lilmu´min¢na aban
rah¢man
‫كُنْتَ لِلْمُممِنِينَ أَبًا رَحِيمًا‬

And they were thus your
dependants;
idh ¥¡r£ `alayka `y¡lan ،ً‫ِإذْ صَارُوَا َِلَ ْيكَ ِِيَاال‬
So, you carried the burdens
fahamalta athq¡la m¡
that they were too weak to
`anhu ¤a`ufw¡
،‫َفحَمَلْتَ أَثْقَالَ مَا َِنْهُ ضَعُفُوَا‬
carry,
And you preserved that which
they forfeited,
wa hafi¨ta m¡ a¤¡`£ ،‫وَحَفِظْتَ مَا َأضَاُِوَا‬
And you conserved that which
they neglected,
wa ra`ayta m¡ ahmal£ ،‫وَرََِيْتَ مَا أَهْمَلُوَا‬
And you prepared yourself for
facing that which they were too wa shammarta idh jaban£ ،‫وَشَمَّرْتَ ِإذْ جَبَنُوَا‬
coward to face,
And you advanced when they
were dismayed,
wa `alawta idh hala`£ ،‫وََِلَوْتَ ِإذْ هَلِعُوَا‬
And you acted steadfastly when
they became anxious.
wa ¥abarta idh jaza`£ ،‫ج ُِِوَا‬
َ ْ‫َوصَ َبرْتَ ِإذ‬
You were thus incessant kunta `al¡ alk¡fir¢na
‫كُنْتَ َِلَى اْلكَدا ِفرِينَ َِدذَابًا‬
torment on the unbelievers, `adh¡ban ¥abban
‫صَبًّا‬
And you were also rude and
furious (on them),
wa ghil¨atan wa ghay¨an ،‫وَغِلْظَةً وَغَيْظًا‬
And you rained (with mercy)
on the believers, and you were wa lilmu´min¢na ghaythan
‫ِصددبًا‬
ْ َ‫َولِلْمُددمْمِنِينَ غَيْثددًا و‬
fertile and source of knowledge wa khi¥ban wa `ilman
for them.
،‫وَِِلْمًا‬
Your argument was never
weak,
lam tuflal hujjatuka ،َ‫لَمْ تُفْ َللْ حُجَّ ُتك‬
And your heart never deviated, wa lam yazigh qalbuka ،َ‫َولَمْ َي ِغْ قَلْبُك‬
And your sagacity was never
feeble,
wa lam ta¤`uf ba¥¢ratuka ،َ‫َولَمْ َتضْ ُعفْ َبصِيرَُتك‬
And your determination never
cowered.
wa lam tajbun nafsuka ،َ‫سك‬
ُ ْ‫َولَمْ َتجْبُنْ نَف‬
You were as firm as mountain,
kunta k¡ljabali l¡
ُ‫كُنْددتَ كَاْلجَبَددلِ ال ُتحَرِّكُدده‬
as storms could never displace
tuharriuhu al`aw¡¥ifu
you, ،ُ‫صف‬
ِ ‫الْعَوَا‬
And misfortunes could never
move you.
wa l¡ tuz¢luhu alqaw¡¥ifu ،ُ‫صف‬
ِ ‫وَال ُت ِيلُهُ الْقَوَا‬
You were as same as described
kunta kam¡ q¡la ras£lu ِ‫َسدولُ اللّده‬
ُ ‫كُنْتَ كَمَا قَدالَ ر‬
by Allah’s Messenger—peace be
all¡hi ¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi
upon him and his Household—
wa ¡lihi qawiyyan f¢
‫صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ قَوِيًّا فِي‬
who said about you that you
badanika
are strong in your body, ،َ‫دِنك‬
َ ‫َب‬

And modest in yourself,
And great in the view of Allah,
And imposing in the earth,
And lofty in the heavens.
None could ever find fault with
you,
And none could ever speak evil
of you,
And you never desired for any
of the created beings,
And you were never lenient
(unfairly) to anyone.
The weak, humble one was
strong and mighty in your view
until you give him back his
right,
And the strong, mighty one was
weak in your view until you
take the others’ rights from
him.
The near and the remote were
equal in your view.
You habit was to be right,
honest, and kind,
And your words were ruling
and determination,
And your custom was
forbearance and fortitude,
And your view was knowledge
and firmness.
At your hands did the religion
become even,
And the difficult became easy,
And fires were extinguished,
And by you did faith become
mutaw¡¤i`an f¢ nafsika ،َ‫سك‬
ِ ْ‫مُتَوَاضِعًا فِي نَف‬
`a¨¢man `inda all¡hi ،ِ‫َِظِيمًا ِِ ْندَ اللّه‬
kab¢ran f¢ alar¤i ،ِ‫كَبِيرًا فِي األرْض‬
jal¢lan f¢ alssam¡‘i ،ِ‫جَلِيالً فِي السَّمَاء‬
lam yakun liahadin f¢ka
mahmazun
،ٌ ‫حدٍ فِيكَ مَهْ َم‬
َ َ‫لَمْ َيكُنْ أل‬
wa l¡ liq¡’ilin f¢ka
maghmazun
،ٌ ‫وَال لِقَاِئلٍ فِيكَ مَغْ َم‬
wa l¡ likhalqin f¢ka
ma§ma`un
،ٌ‫وَال ِلخَ ْلقٍ فِيكَ مَطْمَع‬
wa l¡ liahadin `indaka
haw¡datum
،ٌ‫حدٍ ِِ ْندَكَ هَوَا َة‬
َ َ‫وَال أل‬
y£jadu al¤¤a`¢fu َ‫جدُ الضَّعِيفُ الذَّلِيلُ ِِ ْندَك‬
َ ‫يُو‬
aldhdhal¢lu `indaka
qawiyyan `az¢zan hatt¡
ُ‫قَوِيًّا َِ ِي ًا حَتَّدى تَأْ ُدذَ لَده‬
takhudha lahu bihaqqhi
،ِ‫ِبحَقِّه‬
wal-qawiyyu al`az¢zu ‫ضدعِيفًا‬
َ َ‫وَالْقَوِيُّ الْ َع ِي ُ ِِ ْندَك‬
`indaka ¤a`¢fan hatt¡
takhudha minhu alhaqqa ،َّ‫حَتَّى تَأْ ُذَ مِنْهُ اْلحَق‬
alqar¢bu wal-ba`¢du ‫الْ َقرِيٍُ وَالْبَعِيدُ ِِنْددَكَ فِدي‬
`indaka f¢ dhalika
saw¡‘un ،ٌ‫ذِلكَ سَوَاء‬
shanuka alhaqqu wal-
¥¥idqu wal-rrifqu
،ُ‫شَ ْأُنكَ اْلحَقُّ وَالصِّدْ ُ وَالرِّ ْفق‬
wa qawluka hukmun wa
hatmun
،ٌ‫حكْمٌ وَحَتْم‬
ُ َ‫َوقَ ْوُلك‬
wa amruka hilmun wa
`azmun
،ٌ‫َوأَ ْمرُكَ حِلْمٌ وَ َِ ْم‬
wa ra¢uka `ilmun wa
hazmun
،ٌ‫ح ْم‬
َ َ‫وَ َرأُْيكَ ِِلْمٌ و‬
i`tadala bika aldd¢nu ،ُ‫إِِْ َتدَلَ ِبكَ الدِّين‬
wa sahula bika al`as¢ru ،ُ‫وَسَ ُهلَ ِبكَ الْعَسِير‬
wa a’u§f¢’at bika alnn¢r¡nu ،ُ‫َوُأطْفِئَتْ ِبكَ النِّيرَان‬
wa qawiya bika al’¢m¡nu ،ُ‫َوقَوِيَ ِبكَ اإليمَان‬

strong,
And by you did Islam became
steady,
And the calamity of losing you
undermined all people,
Surely, we are Allah's and to
Him we shall surely return.
Curse of Allah be upon him
who slew you,
And curse of Allah be upon him
who mutinied against you,
And curse of Allah be upon him
who forged lies against you,
And curse of Allah be upon him
who wronged you and usurped
your right,
And curse of Allah be upon him
who, when was informed about
this, was pleased with it.
Verily, we disavow those before
Allah.
Curse of Allah be upon the
group that disagreed with you,
And denied your (Divinely
commissioned) leadership,
And aided each other against
you and slew you,
And deviated from you and
disappointed you.
All praise be to Allah, for
Hellfire is the abode of those,
And evil the place to which
they are brought.
I bear witness for you, O the
Intimate servant of Allah and
the loyal to Allah’s
Messenger—peace be upon him
and his Household—that you
did convey and carry out (your
wa thabata bika alisl¡mu ،ُ‫وَثَبَتَ ِبكَ اإلسْالم‬
wa haddat mu¥¢batuka
alan¡ma
،َ‫وَهَدَّتْ ُمصِيبَ ُتكَ األنَام‬
fa’inn¡ lill¡hi wa inn¡
ilayhi r¡ji`£na
،َ‫فَإِنَّا لِلّهِ َوإِنَّا ِإلَيْهِ رَاجِعُون‬
la`ana all¡hu man
qatalaka
،َ‫لَعَنَ اللّهُ مَنْ قَتَ َلك‬
wa la`ana all¡hu man
kh¡lafaka
،َ‫َولَعَنَ اللّهُ مَنْ َالَ َفك‬
wa la`ana all¡hu mani
aftar¡ `alayka
،َ‫َولَعَنَ اللّهُ مَنِ افْ َترَى َِلَ ْيك‬
wa la`ana all¡hu man َ‫َولَعَددنَ اللّددهُ مَددنْ كَلَمَددك‬
¨alamaka wa gha¥abaka
haqqaka ،َ‫وَ َغصَ َبكَ حَقَّك‬
wa la`ana all¡hu man َ‫َولَعَنَ اللّدهُ مَدنْ بَلَغَدهُ ذلِدك‬
balaghahu dhalika
fara¤iya bihi ،ِ‫َف َرضِيَ بِه‬
inn¡ il¡ all¡hi minhum
bur¡‘u
،ُ‫إِنَّا ِإلَى اللّهِ مِنْهُمْ ُبرَاء‬
la`ana all¡hu ‘ummatan
kh¡lafatka
،َ‫لَعَنَ اللّهُ أُمَّةً َالَفَ ْتك‬
wa jahadat wil¡iyataka ،َ‫حدَتْ وِاليَ َتك‬
َ‫ج‬َ َ‫و‬
wa ta¨¡harat `alayka wa
qatalatka
،َ‫وَتَظَا َهرَتْ َِلَ ْيكَ َوقَتَلَ ْتك‬
wa h¡dat `anka wa
khadhalatka
،َ‫ذلَ ْتك‬
َ َ َ‫وَحَا َتْ َِ ْنكَ و‬
alhamdu lill¡hi alladhy َ‫اْلحَ ْمدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي جَعَدلَ النَّدار‬
ja`ala alnn¡ra
mathw¡hum ْ‫مَثْوَاهُم‬
wa bi’sa alwirdu
almawr£du
.ُ ‫َوبِئْسَ الْوِ ْر ُ الْمَوْرُو‬
ash-hadu laka y¡ waliyy َّ‫أَشْ َهدُ َلكَ يَا َولِيَّ اللّهِ وَ َولِدي‬
all¡hi wa waliyy ras£lihi
¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa
ِ‫رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِده‬
¡lihi bilbal¡ghi wal-ad¡‘i
،ِ‫بِالْبَالغِ وَاأل َاء‬

mission).
And I bear witness that you are
the beloved of Allah and door
to Him,
And you are the Side of Allah
and His Face from which one
can come to Allah,
And you are Allah’s way,
And you are Allah’s servant,
And the brother of His
Messenger—peace be upon him
and his Household.
I have thus come to visit you
because you enjoy a
magnificent position and
standing with Allah and with
His Messenger,
So, I seek nearness to Allah
through my visiting you,
And I desire that you will
intercede for me,
Through your intercession for
me, I hope for redemption of
myself,
And I seek refuge with you
against Hellfire,
And I am fleeing from my sins
that I have overburdened
myself with them,
And I resort to you in the hope
of my Lord’s mercy.
I have come to you, O my
master, seeking your
intercession for me before
Allah,
And seeking nearness to Him
wa ataqarrabu bika ilayhi
through you so that He may
settle my needs;
wa ash-hadu annaka
hab¢bu all¡hi wa b¡buhu
،ُ‫َوأَشْ َهدُ أَنَّكَ حَبِيٍُ اللّهِ َوبَابُه‬
wa annaka janbu all¡hi ‫َوأَنَّكَ جَنٍُْ اللّهِ وَوَجْهُهُ الَّذِي‬
wa wajhuhu alladhy
minhu yu´t¡ ،‫مِنْهُ يُمْتَى‬
wa annaka sab¢lu all¡hi ،ِ‫َوأَنَّكَ سَبِيلُ اللّه‬
wa annaka `abdu all¡hi ،ِ‫َوأَنَّكَ َِ ْبدُ اللّه‬
wa akhw ras£lihi ¥all¡
ِ‫َوأَ ُو رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْده‬
all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lihi
،ِ‫وَآلِه‬
ataytuka z¡’iran li`a¨¢mi َ‫أَتَيْ ُتكَ زَائِدرًا لِعَظِديمِ حَالِدك‬
h¡lika wa manzilatika
`inda all¡hi wa `inda
َ‫وَمَ ْن ِلَ ِتكَ ِِنْددَ اللّدهِ وَِِنْدد‬
ras£lihi
،ِ‫رَسُولِه‬
mutaqarriban il¡ all¡hi
biziy¡ratika
،َ‫مُتَقَرِّبًا ِإلَى اللّهِ ِب ِيَارَِتك‬
r¡ghiban ilayka f¢
alshshaf¡`ati
،ِ‫رَاغِبًا ِإلَ ْيكَ فِي الشَّفَاَِة‬
abtaghy bishaf¡`atika
َ ‫ِشددفَاَِ ِتكَ َددال‬
َ ‫َأبْتَغِددي ب‬
khal¡¥a nafs¢
،‫نَفْسِي‬
muta`awwidhan bika
mina alnn¡ri
،ِ‫مُتَعَوِّذًا ِبكَ مِنَ النَّار‬
h¡riban min dhun£biya ‫هَارِبددًا مِددنْ ُذنُددوبِيَ الَّتِددي‬
allaty ahta§abtuh¡ `al¡
¨ahr¢ ،‫احْتَطَبْتُهَا َِلَى كَ ْهرِي‬
fazi`an ilayka raj¡‘a
rahmati rabb¢
،‫َف ًِِا ِإلَ ْيكَ رَجَاءَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي‬
ataytuka astashfi`u bika
َ‫أَتَيْ ُتكَ أَسْتَشْفِعُ ِبكَ يَا مَوْالي‬
y¡ mawl¡ya il¡ all¡hi
ِ‫ِإلَى اللّه‬
َ‫َوأَتَقَرَّبُ ِبكَ ِإلَيْهِ لِيَ ْقضِيَ بِدك‬
liyaq¤iya bika haw¡’ij¢
،‫حَوَاِئجِي‬

So, (please) intercede for me, O
f¡shfa` l¢ y¡ am¢ra
the commander of the
almu´min¢na
َ‫فَاشْفَعْ لِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُمْمِنِين‬
believers.

Verily, I am the slave of Allah fa’inn¢ `abdu all¡hi wa

َ‫فَددإِنِّي َِبْدددُ اللّددهِ وَمَددوْالك‬
and your servant and visitor, mawl¡ka wa z¡’iruka
َ‫وَزَاِئرُك‬
And you enjoy a
wa laka `inda all¡hi
distinguished position
almaq¡mu alma`l£mu
،ُ‫َوَلكَ ِِ ْندَ اللّهِ الْمَقَامُ الْمَعْلُوم‬
with Allah,

And a great rank, wal-j¡hu al`a¨¢mu ،ُ‫وَاْلجَاهُ الْعَظِيم‬

And a big standing, wal-shsha’nu alkab¢ru ،ُ‫وَالشَّأْنُ اْلكَبِير‬
And an admitted right of wal-shshaf¡`atu
intercession. almaqb£latu
.ُ‫وَالشَّفَاَِةُ الْمَقْبُولَة‬
O Allah: (please do) send
blessings upon
all¡humma ¥alli `al¡ ِ‫ص دلِّ َِلَددى ُمحَمَّ ددٍ وَآل‬
َ َّ‫اللّهُددم‬
muhammadin wa ¡li
Muhammad and the
Household of Muhammad,
muhammadin ،ٍ‫ُمحَمَّد‬
And send blessings upon
wa ¥alli `al¡ `abdika wa
َ‫َصددلِّ َِلَددى َِبْدددِكَ َوأَمِينِددك‬
َ‫و‬
Your servant and Your
am¢nika alawf¡
most faithful trustee, ،‫األ ْوفَى‬
And Your firmest handle, wa `urwatika alwuthq¡ ،‫وَ ُِرْوَِتكَ الْوُثْقَى‬
And Your highest Hand, wa yadika al`uly¡ ،‫وََيدِكَ الْعُلْيَا‬
And Your excellent Word, wa kalimatika alhusn¡ ،‫وَكَلِمَ ِتكَ اْلحُسْنَى‬
And Your argument on the
people,
wa hujjatika `al¡ alwar¡ ،‫وَحُجَّ ِتكَ َِلَى الْوَرَى‬
And Your grandest
veracious one,
wa ¥idd¢qika alakbari ،ِ‫َوصِدِّي ِقكَ األكْ َبر‬
The chief of the Prophets’
successors,
sayyidi alaw¥y¡‘i ،ِ‫سَيِّدِ األ ْوصِيَاء‬
And the reliance of the
saints,
wa rukni alawly¡‘i ،ِ‫وَرُكْنِ األ ْولِيَاء‬
And the support of the
elite ones,
wa `im¡di ala¥f¢¡‘i ،ِ‫وَِِمَا ِ األصْفِيَاء‬
And the commander of the
believers,
am¢rilmu´min¢na ،َ‫أَمِيرِالْمُمْمِنِين‬
And the leader of the pious
ones,
wa ya`s£bi almuttaq¢na ،َ‫وَيَعْسُوبِ الْمُتَّقِين‬
And the example of the
veracious ones,
wa qudwati al¥¥idd¢q¢na ،َ‫َو ُقدْوَةِ الصِّدِّيقِين‬

And the pattern of the
righteous ones,
wa im¡mi al¥¥¡lih¢na ،َ‫َوإِمَامِ الصَّاِلحِين‬
The one protected against
flaws,
alma`¥£mi mina alzzalali ،ِ‫الْمَ ْعصُومِ مِنَ ال ََّلل‬
And the one saved from wal-maf§£mi mina
defects, alkhalali
،ِ‫وَالْمَفْطُومِ مِنَ اْلخَ َلل‬
And the one cleared from wal-muhadhdhabi mina
faults, al`aybi
،ٍِْ‫وَالْمُهَذَّبِ مِنَ الْعَي‬
And the one purified from wal-mu§ahhari mina
doubts: alrraybi
،ٍِْ‫وَالْمُطَهَّرِ مِنَ الرَّي‬
The brother of Your
Prophet,
akhy nabiyyika ،َ‫أَ ِي نَبِيِّك‬
And the successor of Your
Messenger,
wa wa¥iyyi ras£lika ،َ‫وَ َوصِيِّ رَسُوِلك‬
And the one who replaced
him by spending the night wal-b¡’iti `al¡ fir¡shihi ،ِ‫وَالْبَائِتِ َِلَى ِفرَاشِه‬
on his bed
And the one who sacrificed
his soul for him,
wal-mw¡sy lahu binafsihi ،ِ‫وَالْمُوَاسِي لَهُ بِنَفْسِه‬
And the one who always
wa k¡shifi alkarbi `an wa
relieved him in harsh
jhihi
،ِ‫كرْبِ َِنْ وَجْهِه‬
َ ‫شفِ اْل‬
ِ ‫وَكَا‬
situations,
The one whom You chose
alladhy ja`altahu sayfan
to be the sword of his (i.e.
linubuwwatihi
،ِ‫الَّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ سَيْفًا لِنُبُوَّتِه‬
the Prophet) Prophethood
And to be the miracle of
his (Divine) mission,
wa mu`jizan liris¡latihi ،ِ‫وَمُ ْعجِ ًا ِلرِسَالَتِه‬
And to be the lucid
wa dal¡latan w¡¤ihatan
indication to his
lihujjatihi
،ِ‫ضحَةً ِلحُجَّتِه‬
ِ ‫َو َاللَةً وَا‬
arguments,
And to be the bearer of his
pennon,
wa h¡milan lir¡iyatihi ،ِ‫وَحَامِالً ِلرَايَتِه‬
And to be the protector of
his soul,
wa wiq¡iyatan limuhjatihi ،ِ‫وَ ِوقَايَةً لِمُ ْهجَتِه‬
And to be the guide of his
nation,
wa h¡diyan li’ummtihi ،ِ‫وَهَا ِيًا ألُمَّتِه‬
And to be the power of his
might,
wa yadan liba’sihi ،ِ‫وَيَدًا لِبَأْسِه‬
And to be the crown of his
head,
wa t¡jan lira’sihi ،ِ‫وَتَاجًا ِل َرأْسِه‬
And to be the door to his
victory,
wa b¡ban lina¥rihi ،ِ‫صرِه‬
ْ ‫َوبَابًا لِ َن‬
And to be the key to his
triumph
wa mift¡han li¨afarihi ِ‫وَمِفْتَاحًا لِظَ َفرِه‬

Until he defeated the
hatt¡ hazama jun£da
armies of polytheism by
alshshirki bi-aydika
،َ‫حَتَّى َه َمَ جُنُو َ الشِّرْكِ بِأَْيدِك‬
Your aid,
And he terminated the
wa ab¡da `as¡kira alkufri
warriors of atheism by
bi-amrika
،َ‫َوَأبَا َ َِسَا ِكرَ اْلكُ ْفرِ بِأَ ْمرِك‬
Your permission,

And he exerted all efforts wa badhala nafsahu f¢ ِ‫َوَبذَلَ نَفْسَهُ فِي َم ْرضَاِتكَ وَ َم ْرضَاة‬
in the pleasure of You and mar¤¡tika wa mar¤ati
of Your Messenger, ras£lika ،َ‫رَسُوِلك‬
And he devoted all his
wa ja`alah¡ wa qfan `al¡
efforts to the obedience of
§¡`atihi
،ِ‫وَجَعَلَهَا َوقْفًا َِلَى طَاَِتِه‬
him,
And he made of himself
wa majinnan d£na
armor to protect him from
nakbatihi
،ِ‫وَ َمجِنًّا ُونَ َنكْبَتِه‬
any misfortune,
Until the soul of the
Prophet—peace be upon
him and his Household—
hatt¡ f¡¤at nafsuhu ¥all¡ ُ‫صدلَّى اللّده‬
َ ُ‫ْسده‬
ُ ‫حَتَّى فَاضَتْ نَف‬
all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lihi f¢
departed his body while
his face was in the hand of
kaffihi ِ‫َِلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ فِي كَفِّه‬
`Al¢,

Who thus felt its coldness, wastalaba bardah¡ ،‫وَاسْتَلٍََ َب ْر َهَا‬

And he rubbed his face wa masahahu `al¡
therewith, wajhihi
،ِ‫سحَهُ َِلَى وَجْهِه‬
َ َ‫وَم‬
And Your angels helped
wa a`¡nathu mal¡’ikatuka
ِ‫ُسدلِه‬
ْ ‫َوأََِانَتْهُ مَالِئكَتُدكَ َِلَدى غ‬
him bathe and prepare his
`al¡ ghuslihi wa tajh¢zihi
body for burial, ،ِ‫وََتجْهِي ِه‬
And he then offered prayer
wa ¥all¡ `alayhi wa w¡r¡
for him and buried his
shakh¥ahu
،ُ‫خصَه‬
ْ‫ش‬َ ‫َوصَلَّى َِلَيْهِ وَوَارَى‬
body,

And then settled his debts,
And fulfilled his promises,
And made his covenants,
And followed his example,
And abode by his will.
And when he could find
supporters, he undertook
burdens of the position of
wa qa¤¡ daynahu ،ُ‫َو َقضَى َيْنَه‬
wa anjaza wa`dahu ،ُ‫ج َ وَ ِْدَه‬
َ ‫َوَأْن‬
wa lazima `ahdahu ،ُ‫َوَل ِمَ َِ ْهدَه‬
wahtadh¡ mith¡lahu ،ُ‫وَاحْ َتذَى مِثَالَه‬
wa hafi¨a wa¥iyyatahu ،ُ‫وَحَفِظَ َوصِيَّتَه‬
wa h¢na wa jada an¥¡ran ً‫جدَ َأْنصَارًا نَهَضَ مُسْتَقِال‬
َ َ‫وَحِينَ و‬
naha¤a mustaqillan bi-
a`b¡‘i alkhil¡fati ،ِ‫بِأَِْبَاءِ اْلخِالفَة‬

leadership (caliphate),
And assumed the loads of mu¤§ali`an bi-athq¡li
Imamate. alim¡mati
،ِ‫ُمضْطَلِعًا بِأَثْقَالِ اإلمَامَة‬
He thus hoisted the flag of
fana¥aba r¡iyata alhud¡ f¢
true guidance among Your
`ib¡dika
،َ‫فَ َنصٍََ رَايَةَ الْ ُهدَى فِي ِِبَا ِك‬
servants,
And he spread the dress of wa nashara thawba
security in Your lands, alamni f¢ bil¡dika
،َ‫شرَ ثَوْبَ األمْنِ فِي بِال ِك‬
َ َ‫َون‬
And he extended justice wa basa§a al`adla f¢
among Your creatures, bariyyatika
،َ‫َوبَسَطَ الْ َعدْلَ فِي َبرِيَّ ِتك‬
And he judged according
wa hakama bikit¡bika f¢
to Your Book among your
khal¢qatika
،َ‫حكَمَ ِبكِتَاِبكَ فِي َلِيقَ ِتك‬
َ َ‫و‬
beings,

And he executed the laws, wa aq¡ma alhud£da ،َ ‫حدُو‬

ُ ‫َوَأقَامَ اْل‬
And he suppressed
unbelief,
wa qama`a aljuh£da ،َ ‫جحُو‬
ُ ‫َوقَمَعَ اْل‬
And he rectified the
deviation,
wa qawwama alzzaygha ،َ‫َوقَوَّمَ ال َّيْغ‬
And he mollified the
criticism,
wa sakkana alghamrata ،َ‫وَسَكَّنَ الْغَ ْمرَة‬
And he eradicated
lethargy,
wa ab¡da alfatrata ،َ‫َوَأبَا َ الْفَ ْترَة‬
And he blocked the gap, wa sadda alfurjata ،َ‫وَسَدَّ الْ ُفرْجَة‬
And he killed the
wa qatala alnn¡kithata
preachers, the wrongdoers,
wal-q¡si§ata wal-m¡riqata
،َ‫َوقَ َتلَ النَّاكِثَةَ وَالْقَاسِطَةَ وَالْمَا ِرقَة‬
and the apostates,
And he kept on following
wa lam yazal `al¡ minh¡ji
the course and tradition of
ras£li all¡hi ¥all¡ all¡hu
ِ‫َولَمْ َي َلْ َِلَى مِنْهَاجِ رَسُولِ اللّده‬
Allah’s Messenger—peace
`alayhi wa ¡lihi wa
be upon him and his
wat¢ratihi
،ِ‫صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَوَتِيرَتِه‬
Household,
And kept on following his
excellent pattern,
wa lu§fi sh¡kilatihi ،ِ‫طفِ شَاكِلَتِه‬
ْ ُ‫َول‬
And kept on following his
superb practice,
wa jam¡li s¢ratihi ،ِ‫وَجَمَالِ سِيرَتِه‬
And he imitated his
convention,
muqtadiyan bisunnatihi ،ِ‫مُقْ َتدِيًا بِسُنَّتِه‬
And held fast to his
morale,
muta`alliqan bihimmatihi ،ِ‫مُتَعَلِّقًا بِهِمَّتِه‬
And he copied his way (of
treating with matters).
mub¡shiran li§ar¢qatihi ،ِ‫طرِيقَتِه‬
َ ِ‫مُبَاشِرًا ل‬

And he always noticed the
Prophet’s deeds as if they
were before his eyes,
And he thus ordered Your
servants to copy these
deeds,
And he invited them to
imitate these deeds,
Until his white beard was
dyed with the blood of his
head.
O Allah: As he never
preferred a dubious matter
to a certain one for the
sake of obeying You,
And as he never associated
anyone with You even for a
twinkling of an eye,
Please send upon him
growing and increasing
blessings,
Due to which he may join
the position of
Prophethood in Your
Paradise,
And convey our greetings
and compliments to him
And, on account of our
allegiance to his
leadership, please give us
from You favor and
kindness,
And forgiveness and
pleasure.
You are verily the Lord of
enormous favor.
Out of Your mercy, O the
most Merciful of all those
who show mercy.
You may then put your right and then left cheeks on the tomb, turn to the kiblah
direction, offer the Prayer of Ziy¡rah, and supplicate to anything you want.
Then, you may recite the (famous) Tasb¢h al-Zahr¡' and say the following:
O Allah: You have
conveyed to me glad
wa amthilatuhu na¥bu
`aynayhi
ِ‫َوأَمْثِلَتُهُ َنصٍُْ َِيْنَيْه‬
yahmilu `ib¡daka `alayh¡ ‫َيحْ ِملُ ِِبَا َكَ َِلَيْهَا‬
wa yad`£hum ilayh¡ ‫وََيدُِْوهُمْ ِإلَيْهَا‬
il¡ an khu¤ibat ِ‫شديْبَتُهُ مِدنْ َم‬
َ ْ‫ِإلَى أَنْ ُضِبَت‬
shaybatuhu min dami
ra’sihi .ِ‫َرأْسِه‬
all¡humma fakam¡ lam َ‫اللّهُمَّ َفكَمَا لَمْ يُمِْثرْ فِي طَاَِتِدك‬

shakkan `al¡ yaq¢nin ،ٍ‫شكًّا َِلَى يَقِين‬

wa lam yushrik bika

tidings through Your
Prophet and Messenger,
Muhammad—Your peace
be upon him and his
Household—
As You said, “And give
good news to those who
believe that theirs is a
footing of firmness with
their Lord.”
O Allah: Indeed, I believe
in all Your Prophets and
Messengers—Your
blessings be upon them.
So, (please) do not cause
me, after my recognition of
them, to be in a situation
due to which You expose
me in the presence of the
Witnesses;
Rather, (please) include me
with them and make me die
while I give them credence.
O Allah: You have also
bestowed upon them
exclusive honor from You,
And You have ordered me to
follow them.
O Allah: I am Your slave and
visitor,
Seeking Your nearness
through visiting the brother
of Your Messenger.
Indeed, each visited person
is expected to pay attention
to the his duty towards the
one who visits and comes to
him.
And You are the Best One to
Whom one may come,

َ‫لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكَ وَرَسُوِلك‬

wa amartany bi-
ittib¡`ihim
،ْ‫َوأَ َمرْتَنِي بِاتِّبَاِِهِم‬
all¡humma wa inn¢
`abduka wa z¡’iruka
َ‫اللّهُمَّ َوإِنِّي َِ ْبدُكَ وَزَاِئرُك‬
mutaqarriban ilayka
‫مُتَقَرِّبًا ِإلَ ْيكَ ِب ِيَدارَةِ أَ ِدي‬
biziy¡rati akhy ras£lika
َ‫رَسُوِلك‬
wa `al¡ kulli ma’tiyyin ٌّ‫وََِلَى كُلِّ مَأْتِيٍّ وَ َم ُورٍ حَدق‬
wa maz£rin haqqa liman
at¡hu wa z¡rahu ،ُ‫لِمَنْ أَتَاهُ وَزَارَه‬
wa anta khayru matiyyin ،ٍّ‫َوَأنْتَ َ ْيرُ مَأْتِي‬

And You are the most
Generous One to be visited;
I therefore beseech You, O
Allah; O All-beneficent, O
All-merciful,
O All-magnanimous, O All-
glorious,
O the One, O the Besought of
all,
O He Who never begets nor
is He begotten,
And the like of Whom is
none,
And He has not betaken wife
or child—
(I beseech You) to send
blessings upon Muhammad
and the Household of
Muhammad,
And to choose the gift that
You present to me on
account of my visiting Your
Messenger’s brother,
To be releasing me from
Hellfire,
And to include me with those
who strive with one another
in hastening to good deeds,
And those who call on You
with love and reverence,
And to make me of those
who are humble before You.
O Allah: You have indeed
conferred upon me with the
favor of visiting my master;
`Al¢ ibn Ab¢-±¡lib,
And with the favor of my
being loyal to his (Divinely
commissioned) leadership

¥¡hibatan wa l¡ waladan
‫خذْ صَاحِبَةً وَال َولَدًا‬

an tu¥alliya `al¡ ِ‫أَنْ ُتصَلّيَ َِلَى ُمحَمَّددٍ وَآل‬
muhammadin wa ¡li

wa an taj`ala tuhfataka ْ‫َوأَنْ َتجْ َعلَ ُتحْفَ َتكَ إِيَّايَ مِن‬
‘iyy¡iya min ziy¡raty
akh¡ ras£lika َ‫زِيَارَتِي أَ َا رَسُوِلك‬
fak¡ka raqabaty mina
alnn¡ri
،ِ‫َفكَاكَ َرقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّار‬
wa an taj`alany mimmn
ُ‫ُسدا ِرع‬
َ ‫َوأَنْ َتجْعَلَنِي مِمَّدنْ ي‬
yus¡ri`u f¢ alkhayr¡ti
ِ‫فِي اْلخَ ْيرَات‬
wa yad`£ka raghaban
wa rahaban
،‫وََيدُِْوكَ رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا‬
wa taj`alany laka mina
َ‫وََتجْعَلَنِدددي لَدددكَ مِدددن‬
alkh¡shi`¢na
.َ‫اْلخَاشِعِين‬
all¡humma innaka َّ‫اللّهُددمَّ إِنَّ دكَ مَنَنْ دتَ َِلَددي‬
mananta `alayya
biziy¡rati mawl¡iya
‫ِب ِيَارَةِ مَوْاليَ َِلِيِّ بْنِ َأبِدي‬
`aliyyi bni aby §¡libin
ٍٍِ‫طَال‬
wa wil¡iyatihi wa
ma`rifatihi
ِ‫وَوِاليَتِهِ وَمَ ْع ِرفَتِه‬

and the recognition of him;
So, (please) make me of
those whom You give victory
faj`alny mimman ُ‫ْصددرُه‬
ُ ‫فَدداجْعَلْنِي مِمَّددنْ يَن‬
yan¥uruhu wa yanta¥iru
and whom You choose to
triumph through them.
bihi ،ِ‫صرُ بِه‬
ِ ‫وَيَنْ َت‬
And (please) bestow me with
wa munna `alayya
the favor of making me
bina¥rika lid¢nika
.َ‫صرِكَ ِلدِي ِنك‬
ْ ‫وَمُنَّ َِلَيَّ بِ َن‬
support Your religion.
O Allah: (please) include me
with the adherents of him
all¡humma waj`alny min ،ِ‫شديعَتِه‬
ِ ْ‫اللّهُمَّ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن‬
sh¢`atihi wa tawaffany
and cause me to die
following his doctrine.
`al¡ d¢nihi .ِ‫وَتَوَفَّنِي َِلَى ِينِه‬

O Allah: (please) cause me to all¡humma awjib l¢ mina

ِ‫اللّهُمَّ أَوْجٍِْ لِي مِنَ الرَّحْمَة‬
deserve mercy and pleasure alrrahmati wal-rri¤w¡ni
ِ‫وَالرِّضْوَان‬
And forgiveness and favor wal-maghfirati wal-ihs¡ni ِ‫وَالْمَغْ ِفرَةِ وَاإلحْسَان‬
And sustenance that is
wal-rrizqi alw¡si`i
growing, legally gotten, and
alhal¡li al§§ayyibi
ٍ
ِ ‫وَالرِّزْ ِ الْوَاسِعِ الْحَاللِ الطَّ ِّي‬
pleasant,
(and make it) suitable to Your
m¡ anta ahluhu y¡
favoring; O the most Merciful of
arhma alrr¡him¢na
،َ‫ت أَ ْهلُ ُه يَا أَرْحمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
َ ْ‫مَا َأن‬
all those who show mercy.
All praise be to Allah, Lord of walhamdulill¡hi
the worlds. rabbial¡lam¢na
.َ‫وَاْلحَ ْمدُ لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِين‬
Ab£-`Abdull¡h Muhammad ibn Ba§§£§ah, a famous Arab writer and explorer, who lived six
centuries ago and is considered one of the Sunnite scholars mentions the holy mausoleum of our
master Imam `Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n (a.s) in his famous book comprising all his views and
adventures during his journeys, entitled ‘Rihlat Ibn Ba§§£§ah’. In this book, he mentions that in
his way back from Holy Makkah, he passed by the holy city of Najaf. He further says, “All the
inhabitants of this city are R¡f¢¤iyyah.(1) This mausoleum (of Imam `Al¢) has shown many
miraculous signals. One of these miraculous signs is that at the twenty-seventh night of Rajab,
which is called ‘laylat al-mahy¡ (The Night of Staying Up) by them, handicapped individuals
from Iraq, Khur¡s¡n, Persia, and even Rome are gathered near the holy mausoleum. As they
become thirty or forty persons, they are placed above the holy tomb after offering the `Ish¡'
Prayer while people are waiting how they would stand up sound and healthy. As they are
engaged with prayers, invocations, supplications, and recitations of the Holy Qur'¡n, all those
handicapped people stand up sound and healthy at nearly midnight, shouting, ‘There is no god
save Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and `Al¢ is the Intimate Saint of Allah.’
This fact is beyond dispute for them. I have heard it from trustworthy people. Although I have
not presented myself there at that night, I have met, in the School of Guests, three handicapped

men from Rome, I¥fah¡n, and Khur¡s¡n. When I asked them, they answered that they missed the
night of the twenty-seventh of Rajab; therefore, they were waiting for the next year so as to
witness the night.
This Night of Staying Up gathers a huge number of people who establish a great market (trade
fair) that lasts for ten days.”
As a matter of fact, one must not disbelieve such reports. The miraculous matters that have been
shown at these holy mausoleums are innumerable. They have been reported to me through
authentically uninterrupted ways of narrating. The most recent of these miracles occurred in
Shaww¡l, AH 1340 when all the people witnessed an undeniable miraculous signal from the holy
mausoleum of our Imam, the eighth of the Guiding Imams, `Al¢ ibn M£s¡ al-Ri¤¡ (a.s), the hope
of the disobedient ones. Three hemiplegic women besought Almighty Allah in the holy shrine of
Imam al-Ri¤¡ (a.s) after the physicians had despaired of their recovery. Immediately, their
recovery was manifested before the sights of all the attendants at the holy shrine as obviously as
sunlight. It has been further reported that everybody submitted to this miraculous recovery
including the physicians, who had known the reality of these women’s states, after they
investigated the matter so accurately. Some of them, however, wrote the history of this event in a
book so as to convey this miracle to the next generations. However, unless brevity has been
decided in this book, the story would be mentioned as a whole.
Referring to the fact of the miraculous signals that are shown at the mausoleums of the Holy
Infallibles (a.s), Shaykh al-°urr al-`ªmiliy has excellently composed poetic verses the translation
of which is as follows:
And the blessings of his shrine are manifesting themselves everyday, as it was in the past and as
it will be in the future. The healing of the blind and the recovery of diseases prove that all
prayers are responded at these mausoleums.

Third: In his book of ‘al-Balad al-Ameen,’ al-Kaf`amiy has instructed the following:
Recite the following supplication on the Divine Mission Night:
O Allah: I beseech You in the
name of the Grandest
Manifestation
at this night in this glorified
month
and in the name of the honored
Messenger,
that You send blessings upon
Muhammad and his Household
and that You forgive us that which
You know better than we do.
O He Who knows while we do not.
O Allah: (please do) bless us at
this night
which You have exalted with the
honor of the Divine Mission,
and You have esteemed with Your
honoring,
and You have raised to the
Honorable Place.
O Allah: We thus beseech You in
the name of the honorable
mission,
the gentle master,
and the chaste line
that You may bless Muhammad
and his Household
and that You decide our deeds at
this night,
as well as all the other nights, as
acceptable,
our sins as forgiven,
our good efforts as praiseworthy,
our evildoings as concealed,
our hearts as pleased with decent
wording,
and our sustenance that You
decide for us as copiously flowing
with easiness.
O Allah: Verily You see
all¡humma innaka tar¡ wa l¡
[everything] but nothing can see
You
while You are in the Highest
Prospect.

ِ‫َوأَنْ َتجْ َعلَ أَِْمَالَنَا فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَة‬
wa f¢ s¡’iri all¢¡l¢ maqb£latan ،ً‫َوفِي سَاِئرِ اللَّيَالِي مَقْبُولَة‬
wa dhun£ban¡ maghf£ratan ،ً‫َو ُذنُوبَنَا مَغْفُورَة‬
wa hasan¡tin¡ mashk£ratan ،ً‫شكُورَة‬
ْ َ‫وَحَسَنَاتِنَا م‬
wa sayyi’¡tin¡ mast£ratan ،ً‫وَسَيِّئَاتِنَا مَسْتُورَة‬
wa qul£ban¡ bihusni alqawli
masr£ratan
،ً‫سرُورَة‬
ْ َ‫َوقُلُوبَنَا ِبحُسْنِ الْقَوْلِ م‬
wa arz¡qan¡ min ladunka
biliyusri madr£ratan
.ً‫سرِ َمدْرُورَة‬
ْ ُ‫دْنكَ بِالْي‬
ُ ‫َوأَرْزَاقَنَا مِنْ َل‬
tur¡
،‫اللّهُمَّ إنَّكَ َترَى وَال ُترَى‬
wa anta bilman¨ari ala`l¡ ،‫ظرِ األَِْلَى‬
َ ْ‫َوَأنْتَ بِالْمَن‬

And, verily, to You are the [final]
return and goal.
And, verily, to You are causing to
death and granting of life.
And to You are the Last and the
First [of all things].
O Allah: we, surely, seek Your
protection against meeting of
disgrace and shame
and against committing that which
You have ordered us not to do.
O Allah: we, surely, pray You for
Paradise, out of Your mercy,
and we seek Your protection
against Hellfire.
So, (please do) save us from it, in
the name of Your omnipotence.
We, also, pray You for the women
of Paradise;
so, please do grant us them, in the
name of Your might.
And (please do) make the most
expansive of our sustenance be
given to us when we become old
aged,
and make the best of our deeds be
at the time close to our death.
And (please do) extend [our ages
and make us spend them] in acts
of obedience to You,
and in all that which draws us
near to You,
and in all that which allow us to
enjoy a good position with You,
and in all that which make our
lives acceptable by You.
And (please do) improve our
recognition of You under all
circumstance and conditions.
And do not refer us to any of Your
beings lest they shall always
remind us of their favors to us.
And please favor us by settling all
our needs, in this world as well as
the Next World.
And (please do) do the same thing
to our forefathers, our
descendants,
and all our brethren-in-faith;
with regard to all that which we
have besought You for ourselves

،‫وَإنَّ إلَ ْيكَ الرُّجْعَى وَالْمُنْتَهَى‬
wa inna laka almam¡ta wal-
mahy¡
،‫وَإنَّ َلكَ الْ َممَاتَ وَالْ َمحْيَا‬

.‫وَإنَّ َلكَ اآل ِرَةَ وَاألُولَى‬

ِ‫َونَسْ َأُلكَ مِنَ اْلحُورِ الْعِين‬
farzuqn¡ bi`izztika ،َ‫فَارْ ُزقْنَا بِ ِع َِّتك‬
waj`al awsa`a arz¡qin¡
`inda kibari sinnin¡
،‫وَاجْ َعلْ أَوْسَعَ أَرْزَاقِنَا ِِ ْندَ كِ َبرِ سِنِّنَا‬
wa ahsana a`m¡lin¡ `inda
aqtir¡bi ¡j¡lin¡
،‫َوأَحْسَنَ أَِْمَالِنَا ِِ ْندَ اقْ ِترَابِ آجَالِنَا‬
wa a§il f¢ §¡`atika ،َ‫َوَأ ِطلْ فِي طَاَِ ِتك‬
wa m¡ yuqarribu ilayka ،َ‫وَمَا يُقَرِّبُ إلَ ْيك‬

wa yuzlifu ladayka a`m¡ran¡ ،‫وَُي ِْلفُ َلدَْيكَ أَِْمَا َرنَا‬

‫ْسدنْ فِددي جَمِيدعِ أَحْوَالِنَددا َوأُمُو ِرنَددا‬

،‫مَ ْع ِرفَتَنَا‬
wa l¡ takiln¡ il¡ ahadin min
َّ‫وَال َتكِلْنَا إلَى أَحَددٍ مِدنْ َلْقِدكَ فَديَمُن‬
khalqika fayamunn `alayn¡
،‫َِلَيْنَا‬
wa tafa¤¤l `alayn¡ bijam¢`i ‫وَتَفَضَّلْ َِ َليْنَا ِبجَمِيدعِ حَوَاِئجِنَدا لِلددُّنْيَا‬

O the most Merciful of all those
who show mercy.
O Allah: we, verily, beseech You by
Your Grand Name
and Your Eternal Kingdom
to send blessings upon
Muhammad and the Household of
Muhammad
and to forgive our grave sins,
for none can forgive the grave save
the All-great.
O Allah: this is Rajab, the honored
month,
which You have honored us
through it, being the first of the
Sacred Months,
and You have selected us for this
honor from amongst the other
nations.
So, all praise be to You; O the Lord
of Magnanimity and Generosity.
I thus beseech You by Your Name,
the grandest, the grandest, the
grandest,
the most majestic, the most
honorable,
that You have created so that it
has settled under Your Shadow
and it thus shall never transfer to
anyone other than You—
I beseech You to send blessings
upon Muhammad and his
Household, the immaculate,
and to include us, during this
month, with those who practice
acts of obedience to You
and those who hope for Your
admission.
O Allah: (please do) lead us to the
Right Path,
and choose for us the best resting-
place with You,
under a dense shade
and abundant possession.
Surely, You are Sufficient for us!
Most Excellent are You, and in
You do we trust!

،ِ‫دنَا إلَى سَوَاءِ السَّبِيل‬
ِ ‫اللّهُمَّ ا ْه‬

،ٍ‫وَاجْ َعلْ مَقِيلَنَا ِِ ْندَكَ َ ْيرَ مَقِيل‬

.ُ‫فَإنَّكَ حَسْبُنَا َونِعْمَ الْوَكِيل‬

neither accursed (by You) nor
misleading (the Right Path),
out of Your mercy; O the most
Merciful of all those who show
mercy.
O Allah: I earnestly beseech You,
in the name of the matters that
bring about Your forgiveness
and the matters that incumbently
achieve Your mercy,
to grant me safety from all sins,
gain of all decencies,
attainment of Paradise,
redemption against Hellfire.
O Allah: In the same way as
suppliants have besought You, I
am beseeching You.
And in the same way as implorers
have begged You, I am begging
You.
And in the same way as requesters
have asked You, I am asking You.
O Allah: You are (my) trust and
hope;
and You are the ultimate desire in
my supplications.
O Allah: send blessings upon
Muhammad and his Household
and establish conviction in my
hear,
light in my sight,
well-wishing in my chest,
and the mention of You on my
tongue day and night,
and expansive sustenance that is
neither failing nor banned. So,
please provide me sustenance
and bless that which You decide
for me,
and make me self-sufficient,
and make me desire for none save
You;
out of Your mercy, O the most
Merciful of all those who show
mercy .
You may then prostrate yourself &repeat the following invocation 100 times:

All praise be to Allah Who has guided alhamdu lill¡hi alladhy
us to the recognition of Him, had¡n¡ lima`rifatihi
،ِ‫د ِللّهِ الَّذِي َهدَانَا لِمَعْرِفَتِه‬

has included us exclusively with the
protection of Him,
wa kha¥¥n¡ bi£il¡iyatihi ،ِ‫وَ َصَّنَا بِوِاليَتِه‬
and has granted us the obedience to
Him.
wa waffaqan¡ li§¡`atihi ،ِ‫وَوَفَّقَنَا لِطَاَِتِه‬
Thanks, thanks. shukran shukran .‫شُكْرًا شُكْرًا‬
When you raise your head (i.e. finish the prostration), recite the following:
O Allah: I am turning my face toward
all¡humma inn¢ qa¥adtuka
You asking for the settlement of my
bih¡jat¢
،‫ك بِحَاجَتِي‬
َ ‫صدُْت‬
َ َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي ق‬
needs.
And I depend upon You in submitting w¡`tamadtu `alayka
my problem. bimas-alat¢
،‫سأَلَتِي‬
ْ ‫ك بِ َم‬
َ ‫دتُ َِلَ ْي‬
ْ ‫وَاِْتَ َم‬
And I submit before You my Imams wa tawajjhtu ilayka bi-
and Masters. a’immaty wa s¡dat¢
.‫ك ِب َأئِمَّتِي وَسَا َتِي‬
َ ‫ت إلَ ْي‬
ُ ْ‫وَتَوَجَّه‬
O Allah: benefit us by our love for all¡humma anfa`n¡
them, bihubbihim
،ْ‫اللّهُمَّ انْفَعْنَا بِحُبِّهِم‬
and make us follow their examples, wa awridn¡ mawridahum ،ْ‫وَأَوْ ِر ْنَا مَوْ ِر َهُم‬
and grant us their companionship, w¡rzuqn¡ mur¡faqatahum ،ْ‫وَارْزُقْنَا مُرَافَقَتَهُم‬
and allow us to enter Paradise with wa adkhiln¡ aljannata f¢
their group; zumratihim
ْ‫وََأ ْ ِلْنَا الْجَنَّ َة فِي زُمْرَتِهِم‬
by Your mercy, O the most Merciful of birahmatika y¡ arhama
all those who show mercy. alrr¡him¢na
.َ‫ك يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
َ ‫بِرَحْمَ ِت‬
Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s has mentioned that this supplication is recited on the Revelation Day (i.e. the
twenty-seventh of Rajab).

The Divine Mission Day: The twenty-seventh of Rajab
On this day, the Holy Prophet was appointed for conveying the Divine Mission of Almighty Allah
when Archangel Gabriel first came to him with the Divine Revelation.
First: It is recommended to bathe oneself /have ghusl on this day.
Second: It is recommended to observe fasting. this day is one of the four days that are dedicated to
fasting among the whole year. The reward of observing fasting on this day is equal to seventy year
fasting.
Third: It is recommended to repeat very frequently the salwaat ie sending blessings upon Prophet
Muhammad and his Household.
Fourth: It is recommended to visit the holy tombs of the Holy Prophet and Imam `Al¢—peace be
upon them and their Household.
Visiting the Holy Prophet From a Distance
In his book of ‘Zaad al-Maad,’ `All¡mah al-Majlisiy, within the recommended acts on the seventeenth
of Rabi` al-Awwal, the Holy Prophet’s birthday, says that Shaykh al-Muf¢d, Shaykh al-Shah¢d, and
Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s instructed the following: When you intend to visit the Holy Prophet (a.s) while you
are not at the holy city of al-Mad¢nah, you may bathe yourself, stand before something like a grave,
write the name of the Holy Prophet on it, concentrate heartily on it, and say the following:
I bear witness that there is no god save ash-hadu an l¡ il¡ha ill¡ ‫َش د َهدُ أَنْ ال إِلددهَ إِالَّ اللّددهُ وَحْ ددَهُ ال‬
ْ‫أ‬
Allah, alone without having any all¡hu wahhadu l¡ shar¢ka
associate; lahu ،ُ‫شرِيكَ لَه‬
َ
wa ash-hadu anna
and I bear witness that Muhammad is
His servant and Messenger,
muhammadan `abduhu wa ،ُ‫َوأَشْ َهدُ أَنَّ ُمحَمَّدًا َِ ْبدُهُ وَرَسُولُه‬
ras£luhu
and that he is the Master of the ancient wa annhu sayyidu al-
and coming generations, awwal¢na wal-¡khir¢na
،َ‫َوأَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ األوَّلِينَ وَاآل ِرِين‬
and that he is the chief of all Prophets wa annhu sayyidu alanby¡‘i
and Messengers. wal-mursal¢na
.َ‫َوأَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ األنْبِيَاءِ وَالْ ُمرْسَلِين‬
O Allah: send blessings upon him and
all¡humma ¥alli `alayhi wa
ِ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ َِلَيْدهِ وََِلَدى أَهْدلِ بَيْتِده‬
upon his Household—the Immaculate

O the foremost to the obedience to
the Lord of the worlds,
the prevailing over His Messengers,
the last of His Prophets,
the witness over all His creatures,
the interceder to Him,
the firmly established with Him,
the obeyed in His Kingdom,
the winner of the most praised
qualities,
the holder of the most praised
honors,
the honored by the Lord,
the addressee (by Almighty Allah)
from behind the (Divine) Veils,
the most advanced in position,
and the unovertakable.
I greet you with the greeting of him
who acknowledges your right (that is
incumbent upon us),
who confesses of his shortcoming in
carrying out his duty towards you,
who does not discuss your limitless
virtues,
who is sure that you will have more
rewards from your Lord,
who believes in the Book that was
revealed to you,
who deems lawful all that which you
deemed lawful,
and who deems unlawful all that
which you deemed unlawful.
O the Messenger of Allah: I bear
witness—and I join everyone who
bear witness
and also bear witness rather than
everyone who may deny it—
that you conveyed the messages of
your Lord (flawlessly),
and you offered your nation good
advice,
and you strove in the way of your
Lord,
and you expounded openly what you
were commanded,

wa j¡hadta f¢ sab¢li rabbka ،َ‫وَجَا َهدْتَ فِي سَبِيلِ رَبِّك‬
wa ¥ada`ta bi-amrihi ،ِ‫صدَِْتَ بِأَ ْمرِه‬
َ ‫َو‬

and you stood harm for the sake of
Him,
and you called to the way of Him
with excellent wisdom and fair
exhortation,
and you fulfilled the duty with which
you were commissioned,
and you, verily, were compassionate
to the believers,
and you were strong against the
unbelievers,
and you worshipped Allah sincerely
until death came upon you;
therefore, Almighty Allah has exalted
you to the most honorable position
of the ennobled ones
and to the most elevated place of the
intimate servants of Him
and to the most exalted ranks of the
Messengers where none can come up
with you,
and none can excel you,
and none can overtake you,
and none can even think of obtaining
your rank.
All praise be to Allah Who saved us
from perdition through you,
Who guided us off misdirection
through you,
and Who lit our darkness through
you.
O the Messenger of Allah: may Allah
reward you, for being His envoy, in
the best way that He has ever
rewarded a Prophet on behalf of his
people
or a Messenger of behalf of those to
whom He has sent him.
May Allah accept my father and my
mother as ransoms for you, O the
Messenger of Allah. I am visiting you
for I acknowledge your right (that is
incumbent upon us),
I confess of your superiority,
I know for sure about the straying off
(from the right path) of those who
dissent from you and from your
Household,

،َ‫َوَأ َّيْتَ الحَقَّ الَّذِي كَانَ َِلَ ْيك‬
،َ‫َوأَنَّكَ َقدْ رَ ُؤفْتَ بِالمُمْمِنِين‬
،َ‫وَغَلُظْتَ َِلَى الكَا ِفرِين‬
،ُ‫وََِ َبدْتَ اللّهَ ُمخْلِصًا حَتَّى أَتَاكَ اليَقِين‬
،َ‫شرَفَ َمحَلِّ ال ُمكَرَّمِين‬
ْ َ‫فَبَلَغَ اللّهُ ِبكَ أ‬
،َ‫َوأَِْلَى مَنَازِلِ المُقَرَّبِين‬
‫ْس دلِينَ حَيْ دثُ ال‬
َ ‫َوأَ ْرفَ دعَ َرَجَدداتِ ال ُمر‬
،ٌ‫حق‬
ِ ‫يَ ْلحَ ُقكَ ال‬
،ٌ‫ك فَاِئق‬
َ ‫وَال يفُو ُق‬
،ٌ‫وَال يَسْبِ ُقكَ سَاِبق‬
،ٌ‫َوالَ يَطْمَعُ فِي ِإ ْرَا ِككَ طَامِع‬
َ‫ذنَا بِدكَ مِدن‬
َ ‫اسدتَنْ َق‬
ْ ‫الحَ ْمدُ لِلّهِ الَّدذِي‬
،ِ‫الهَ َلكَة‬
،ِ‫وَ َهدَانَا ِبكَ مِنَ الضَّاللَة‬
،ِ‫َونَوَّرَنَا ِبكَ مِنَ الظُّلْمَة‬
ٍ‫ج َاكَ اللّهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ مِنْ مَبْعُدود‬
َ ‫َف‬
،ِ‫ضلَ مَا جَازَى نَبِيًّا َِنْ أُمَّتِه‬
َ ‫َأ ْف‬
،ِ‫سلَ ِإلَيْه‬
ِ ْ‫وَرَسُوالً َِمَّنْ أُر‬
َ‫َسدولَ اللّدهِ زُرْتُدك‬
ُ ‫بِ َأبِي َأنْتَ َوأُمِّي يَا ر‬
،َ‫َِارِفًا ِبحَقِّك‬
،َ‫مُ ِقرًّا بِ َفضْ ِلك‬
َ‫مُسْتَ ْبصِرًا ِبضَاللَةِ مَنْ َالَفَدكَ وَ َداَلف‬
،َ‫أَ ْهلَ بَيْ ِتك‬

and I admit the true guidance that
you follow (and lead to).
May Allah accept my father, my
mother, me, my family, my property,
and my sons as ransoms for you!
Let me pray (Almighty Allah) for
an¡ ’u¥ally `alayka kam¡ ¥all¡
sending blessings upon you as Allah
sends blessings upon you
and as His angels, Prophets, and
Messengers pray Him for sending
blessings
that are consecutive, abundant,
continuous, incessant, infinite, and
unlimited.
May Allah send blessings upon you
and upon your Household, the pure
and immaculate, as much as you
deserve.
You may then extend your hands and say the following:
O Allah: (please do) make You complete
blessings,
Your perfect benedictions,
Your most virtuous boons,
and Your most honorable greetings,
salutations,
dignities, and mercy,
as well as the blessings of Your intimate
angels,
our commissioned Prophets,
Your elite Imams,
Your righteous servants,
the inhabitants of the heavens and the
earth,
and (the blessings of) everyone who
glorified You, O Lord of the worlds,
from the past and the coming
generations—
make all these pour forth upon
Muhammad; Your servant, Your
messenger,
Your witness, Your Prophet,
Your warner, Your trustee,
Your firmly established (in truth), Your
confidante,
Your elite, Your most beloved,

،َ‫َوأَ ْهلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَاألَ َرضِين‬

َ‫وَمَنْ سَبَّحَ َلكَ يَارَبَّ العَالَمِين‬

Your friend, Your choice,
Your notable, Your elect
Your well-chosen, Your mercy,
the best of Your created beings,
the Prophet of mercy,
the keeper of forgiveness,
the leader to good and blessing,
the savior of the servants (of Almighty
Allah) from perdition by Your
permission,
the caller of them to Your religion,
the custodian by Your order,
the first Prophet to make the covenant,
the last Prophet to be sent (to
humanity),
whom You have immersed in the ocean
of virtue,
in the lofty rank,
in the elevated level,
and in the exalted position;
and whom You entrusted in the pure
loins
and moved to the immaculate wombs
out of Your kindness to him
and Your compassion to him.
In order to safeguard, to shield,
to protect, and to defend him,
You assigned, out of Your omnipotence,
a protective lookout over him
to keep him from the impurities of
adultery
and from the defects of fornication
so that You raised the sights of the
servants through him
and You revived the derelict lands

َ ‫وَ َاِلصَ ِت‬
wa khayri khiyaratika min
khalqika
،َ‫وَ َ ْيرِ ِ َيرَِتكَ مِنْ َلْ ِقك‬
nabiyyi alrrahmati ،ِ‫نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَة‬
wa kh¡zini almaghfirati ،ِ‫وَ َازِنِ المَغْ ِفرَة‬
wa q¡’idi alkhayri wal-
barakati
،ِ‫َوقَاِئدِ الخَ ْيرِ وَال َبرَكَة‬
wa munqidhi al`ib¡di mina
alhalakati bi-idhnika
،َ‫وَمُنْ ِقذِ العِبَا ِ مِنَ الهَ َلكَةِ بِ ِإ ْذِنك‬
wa d¡`¢him il¡ d¢nika ،َ‫َو َاِِيهِمْ ِإلَى ِي ِنك‬
alqayyimi bi-amrika ،َ‫القَيِّمِ بِأَ ْمرِك‬
awwali alnnabiyy¢na
m¢th¡qan
،‫أَوَّلِ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقًا‬
wa ¡khirihim mab`athan ،‫وَآ ِرِهِمْ مَبْعَثًا‬
alladhy ghamastahu f¢ bahri
alfa¤¢lati
،ِ‫حرِ ال َفضِيلَة‬
ْ ‫الَّذِي غَمَسْتَهُ فِي َب‬
wal-manzilati aljal¢lati ،ِ‫وَالمَ ْن ِلَةِ الجَلِيلَة‬
wal-ddarajati alrraf¢`ati ،ِ‫وَالدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيعَة‬
wal-martabati alkha§¢rati ،ِ‫وَال َمرْتَبَةِ الخَطِيرَة‬
wa awda`tahu al-a¥l¡ba
al§§¡hirata
،َ‫ألصْالبَ الطَّا ِهرَة‬
َ ‫َوأَ ْو َِْتَهُ ا‬
wa naqaltahu minh¡ il¡
alarh¡mi almu§ahharati
ِ‫َونَقَلْتَهُ مِنْهَا ِإلَى األَرْحَامِ المُطَهَّرَة‬
lu§fan minka lahu ،ُ‫لُطْفًا مِ ْنكَ لَه‬
wa tahannnan minka
`alayhi
،ِ‫وََتحَنُّنًا مِ ْنكَ َِلَيْه‬
idh wakkalta li¥awnihi wa
hir¡satihi
ِ‫حرَاسَتِه‬
ِ َ‫ِإذْ وَكَّلْتَ ِلصَ ْونِهِ و‬
wa hif¨ihi wa hiy¡§atihi ِ‫وَحِفْظِهِ وَحِيَاطَتِه‬
min qudratika `aynan
`¡¥imatan
ً‫مِنْ ُقدْرَِتكَ َِيْنًا َِاصِمَة‬
hajabta bih¡ `anhu
mad¡nisa al`ahri
ِ‫حجَبْتَ بِهَا َِنْهُ َمدَانِسَ العَ ْهر‬
َ
wa ma`¡’iba alssif¡hi ،ِ‫وَمَعَائٍَِ السِّفَاح‬
hatt¡ rafa`ta bihi naw¡¨ira
al`ib¡di
،ِ ‫حَتَّى َرفَعْتَ بِهِ نَوَا ِكرَ العِبَا‬
wa ahyayta bihi mayta
albil¡di
ِ ‫َوأَحْيَيْتَ بِهِ مَيْتَ البِال‬

when You removed the screening murks
by the light of his birth
and You dressed Your Holy Precinct the
garments of brightness through him.

َ‫َشدفْتَ َِدنْ نُدورِ وِال َتِدهِ كُلَدم‬
َ ‫بِأَنْ ك‬
wil¡datihi ¨ulama alast¡ri
،ِ‫األَسْتَار‬
wa albasta haramaka bihi
hulala al-anw¡ri
.ِ‫حرَ َمكَ بِهِ حُ َللَ األَنْوَار‬
َ َ‫َوَألْبَسْت‬

O Allah: As You have given him

exclusively the honor of this noble rank
and the privilege of this great merit,
(please do) bless him for he fulfilled his
covenant to You,
he conveyed all Your messages,
he fought against the infidels in order to
prove Your Oneness,
he exterminated the womb of atheism in
order to strengthen Your religion,
and he dressed himself the garb of
misfortune in order to struggle against
Your enemies.
Hence, You have given him as
recompense for any harm that inflicted
him,
all¡humma fakam¡ ِ‫َصدتَهُ بِشدرَفِ هدذِه‬
ْ ‫اللّهُددمَّ َفكَمَددا َص‬
kha¥a¥tahu bishrafi hadhihi
almartabati alkar¢mati ،ِ‫كرِيمَة‬
َ ‫ال َمرْتَبَةِ ال‬
wa dhukhri hadhihi
almanqabati al`a¨¢mati
،ِ‫َوذُ ْرِ هذِ ِه المَنْقَبَةِ العَظِيمَة‬
¥alli `alayhi kam¡ wa f¡
bi`ahdika
َ‫صَلِّ َِلَيْهِ كَمَا َوفَى بِعَ ْهدِك‬
wa ballagha ris¡l¡tika َ‫َوبَلَّغَ رِسَاالِتك‬
wa q¡tala ahla aljuh£di
`al¡ tawh¢dika
،َ‫جحُو ِ َِلَى تَوْحِيدِك‬
ُ ‫ل ال‬
َ ‫َوقَاَتلَ أَ ْه‬
wa qa§a`a rahima alkufri f¢
i`z¡zi d¢nika
،َ‫َوقَطَعَ رَحِمَ الكُ ْفرِ فِي إِ ِْ َازِ ِي ِنك‬
wa labisa thawba albalw¡ f¢
ِ‫َولَ دبِسَ ثَ دوْبَ البَلْ دوَى فِددي ُمجَاهَ ددَة‬
muj¡hadati a`d¡’ika
،َ‫أَ ِْدَاِئك‬
wa awjabta lahu bikulli
adhan massahu
ُ‫َوأَوْجَبْتَ لَهُ ِبكُلِّ َأذَىً مَسَّه‬

any trickery that he faced
from the faction who tried to assassinate
him,
a merit that excels all other merits
and due to which he possessed Your
abundant bequests.
In return, he hid his sadness
and concealed his grief
and swallowed the pang
and never did he violate the instructions
of Your Revelation.
O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon
him and his Household—blessings that
You please for them,
and convey our abundant greetings and
compliments to him,

wa yamliku bih¡ aljaz¢la
min nawalika
wa qad asarra alhasrata
wa akhf¡ alzzafrata

wa lam yatakha§§a m¡
maththla lahu wahyuka
all¡humma ¥alli `alayhi wa
`al¡ ahli baytihi ¥alatan
tar¤¡h¡ lahum
wa balligh-hum minn¡
tahiyyatan kath¢ratan wa
sal¡man
ِ‫أَوْ كَ ْيدٍ أَحَسَّ بِه‬
ُ‫مِنَ الفِئَةِ َّالتِي حَا َولَتْ قَتْلَه‬
َ‫َفضِيلَةً تَفُو ُ ال َفضَاِئل‬
،َ‫ج ِيلَ مِنْ نَوَاِلك‬
َ ‫وَيَمْ ِلكُ بِهَا ال‬
،َ‫سرَة‬
ْ َ‫َو َقدْ أَسَرَّ الح‬
،َ‫َوأَ ْفَى ال َّ ْفرَة‬
،َ‫وََتجَرَّعَ الغُصَّة‬
.َ‫َولَمْ يَ َتخَطَّ مَا مَثَّلَ لَهُ وَحْ ُيك‬
ً‫صدالة‬
َ ِ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ َِلَيْهِ وََِلَى أَ ْهلِ بَيْتِه‬
،ْ‫َت ْرضَاهَا لَهُم‬
،‫َوبَلِّغْهُمْ مِنَّا َتحِيَّةً كَثِيرَةً وَسَالمًا‬

and give us - from You on account of our

wa ¡tin¡ min ladunka f¢
muwal¡tihim fa¤lan wa
loyalty to them - favors, kindness,
ihs¡nan
mercy, and forgiveness. wa rahmatan wa ghufr¡nan
ً‫َضدال‬
ْ ‫دْنكَ فِدي مُدوَاالتِهِمْ ف‬
ُ ‫وَآتِنَا مِنْ َل‬
‫َوإِحْسَانًا‬
‫وَرَحْمَةً وَغُ ْفرَانًا‬

Verily, You are the Lord of great favor.
You may then offer a four Rak`ah prayer, each two alone, and recite any S£rah you want. At
accomplishment, you may do the Tasb¢h al-Zahr¡' and then say the following:
O Allah: You have said to Your Prophet
Muhammad—
may Allah bless him and his Household:
“And had they, when they were unjust to
themselves,
come to you and asked forgiveness of
Allah
and the Messenger had (also) asked
forgiveness for them,
they would have found Allah Oft-
returning (to mercy), Merciful.”
I was not present at the age of Your
Messenger—peace be upon him and his
Household.
O Allah: I have visited him desiring,
repenting from my ill deeds,
seeking forgiveness of my sins,
confessing of my having committed
these sins although You know them
more than I do,
and turning my face to You in the name
of Your Prophet, the Prophet of Mercy—
may Your blessings be upon him and his
Household.
O Allah: in the name of Muhammad and
his Household, (please do) make me
illustrious
in this world as well as the Next World
and one of those brought near to You.
O Muhammad;
O Messenger of Allah;
may Allah accept my father and mother
as ransoms for you!
O Prophet of Allah;
O Master of all created beings of Allah;
in Your name do I turn my face to Allah,
my and your Lord,
that He may forgive my sins,
accept my deeds,
innaka dhul-fa¤li al`a¨¢mi .ِ‫ضلِ العَظِيم‬
ْ ‫إِنَّكَ ذُوَال َف‬
all¡humma innaka qulta
linabiyyika muhammadin
ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ لِنَبِيِّكَ ُمحَمَّد‬

¡lihi:
:ِ‫صَلَّى اللّهُ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬

¨alam£ anfusahum
ْ‫م ِإذْ كَلَمُوَا َأنْفُسَهُم‬
ْ ُ‫( َولَوْ أَنَّه‬
j¡u´£ka fastaghfar£ all¡ha َ‫جَاؤُوكَ فَاسْتَغْ َفرُوَا اللّه‬
wastaghfara lahumu
alrras£lu
ُ‫وَاسْتَغْ َفرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُول‬
lawajad£ all¡ha taww¡ban
rah¢man.”
).‫جدُوَا اللّهَ تَوَّابًا رَحِيمًا‬

wa lam ah¤ur zam¡na ِ‫ضرْ زَمَانَ رَسُوِلكَ َِلَيْدهِ وَآلِده‬

ْ َ‫َولَمْ أ‬
ras£lika `alayhi wa ¡lihi
alssal¡mu .ُ‫السَّالم‬
all¡humma wa qad zurtuhu ِ‫سديِّء‬
َ ْ‫اللّهُمَّ َو َقدْ زُرْتُهُ رَاغِبًا تَائِبًا مِن‬
r¡ghiban t¡’iban min sayyi‘i
`amal¢ ،‫َِمَلِي‬
wa mustaghfiran laka min
dhun£b¢
،‫وَمُسْتَغْفِرًا َلكَ مِنْ ُذنُوبِي‬
wa muqirran laka bih¡ wa
anta a`lamu bih¡ minn¢
،‫وَمُ ِقرًّا َلكَ بِهَا َوَأنْتَ أَِْلَمُ بِهَا مِنِّي‬
wa mutawajjihan ilayka
binabiyyika nabiyyi ِ‫وَمُتَوَجِّهًا ِإلَ ْيكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَة‬
alrrahmati
¥alaw¡tuka `alayhi wa ¡lihi ِ‫صَلَوَاُتكَ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬
faj`alny all¡humma ِ‫فَاجْعَلْنِي اللّهُمَّ بِ ُمحَمَّددٍ َوأَهْدلِ بَيْتِده‬
bimuhammadin wa ahli
baytihi `indaka wa j¢han ‫ِِ ْندَكَ وَجِيهًا‬
f¢ aldduny¡ wal-¡khirati wa
mina almuqarrab¢na
،َ‫فِي الدُّنْيَا وَاآل ِرَةِ وَمِنَ المُقَرَّبِين‬
y¡ muhammadu ُ‫يَا ُمحَمَّد‬
y¡ ras£la all¡hi ِ‫يَا رَسُولَ اللّه‬
bi-aby anta wa ‘umm¢ ،‫بِ َأبِي َأنْتَ َوأُمِّي‬
y¡ nabiyya all¡hi ،ِ‫يَا نَبِيَّ اللّه‬
y¡ sayyida khalqi all¡hi ،ِ‫يَا سَيِّدَ َ ْلقِ اللّه‬
inn¢ atawajjahu bika il¡
all¡hi rabbika wa rabby
‫إِنِّي أَتَوَجَّهُ ِبكَ ِإلَى اللّهِ رَبِّكَ وَرَبِّي‬
liyaghfira l¢ dhun£b¢ ،‫لِيَغْ ِفرَ لِي ُذنُوبِي‬
wa yataqabbala minny
`amal¢
،‫وَيَتَقَبَّلَ مِنِّي َِمَلِي‬

and settle my requests;
Therefore, be my interceder before your
and my Lord,
for my Lord, the Master, in the best
besought
and You are the best interceder:
O Muhammad,
May peace be upon you and upon your
Household.
O Allah: (please do) confer upon me
with forgiveness, mercy,
and sustenance that is outgoing, good,
and beneficial from You
in the same way as You conferred upon
him who came to Your Prophet,
Muhammad, when he was alive
may your blessings be upon him and his
Household,
and confessed of his sins;
therefore, Your Messenger prayed You
to forgive him;
may your blessings be upon him and his
Household,
and You did forgive him out of Your
mercy, O the most Merciful of all those
who show mercy.
O Allah: I now put my hope in You,
please You,
stand before You,
desire for You other than anyone else,
hope for Your abundant reward
while I confess of my sins and I do not
deny them,
I repent to You from whatever I have
committed,
and I seek refuge with You from this
position
against the deeds that I have committed
although You, firstly, introduced them to
me as prohibited, warned me against
committing them,
and threatened me with Your
punishment if I would violate.

،‫فَنِعْمَ المَسْمُولُ المَ ْولَى رَبِّي‬
wa ni`ma alshshaf¢`u anta َ‫َونِعْمَ الشَّفِيعُ َأنْت‬
y¡ muhammadu ُ‫يَا ُمحَمَّد‬
`alayka wa `al¡ ahli
baytika alssal¡mu
.ُ‫َِلَ ْيكَ وََِلَى أَ ْهلِ بَي ِتكَ السَّالم‬
all¡humma wa awjib l¢ َ‫اللّهُددمَّ َوأَوْجِ دٍْ لِددي مِنْ دكَ المَغْفِ درَة‬
minka almaghfirata wal-
rrahmata َ‫وَالرَّحْمَة‬
wal-rrizqa alw¡si`a
al§§ayyiba alnn¡fi`a
َ‫وَالرِّزْ َ الوَاسِعَ الطَّيٍَِّ النَّافِع‬
kam¡ awjabta liman at¡
nabiyyaka muhammadan
‫كَمَا أَوْجَبْتَ لِمَنْ أَتَى نَبِيِّكَ ُمحَمَّدًا‬
¥alaw¡tuka `alayhi wa ¡lihi ِ‫صَلَوَاُتكَ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِه‬
wa huwa hayyun fa-aqarra
lahu bidhun£bihi
،ِ‫ذنُوبِه‬
ُ ‫وَهُوَ حَيٌّ فَ َأقَرَّ لَهُ ِب‬
wastaghfara lahu ras£luka َ‫وَاسْتَغْ َفرَ لَهُ رَسُوُلك‬
`alayhi wa ¡lihi alssal¡mu ُ‫َِلَيْهِ وَآلِ ِه السَّالم‬
faghafarta lahu birahmatika
َ‫فَغَفَددرْتَ لَددهُ ِبرَحْمَتِددكَ يَددا أَرْحَددم‬
y¡ arhama alrr¡him¢na
.َ‫الرَّاحِمِين‬
all¡humma wa qad
ammaltuka wa rajawtuka
َ‫د أَمَّلْ ُتكَ وَرَجَوُْتك‬
ْ ‫اللّهُمَّ َو َق‬
wa qumtu bayna yadayka َ‫َوقُمْتُ بَيْنَ َيدَْيك‬
wa raghibtu ilayka `amman
siw¡ka
َ‫وَرَغِبْتُ ِإَل ْيكَ َِمَّنْ سِوَاك‬
wa qad ammaltu jaz¢la
thaw¡bika
،َ‫ج ِيلَ ثَوَاِبك‬
َ ‫ت‬
ُ ْ‫َو َقدْ أَمَّل‬
wa inn¢ lamuqirrun ghayru
munkirin
،ٍ‫كر‬
ِ ‫َوإِنِّي لَمُقِرٌّ غَ ْيرُ مُ ْن‬
wa t¡’ibun ilayka mimm¡
aqtaraftu
،ُ‫وَتَائٌٍِ ِإلَ ْيكَ مِمَّا اقْ َت َرفْت‬
wa `¡’idhun bika f¢ h¡dh¡
almaq¡mi
ِ‫ك فِي هذَا المَقَام‬
َ ‫وََِاِئذٌ ِب‬
mimm¡ qaddamtu mina al-
a`m¡li
ِ‫مِمَّا قَدَّمْتُ مِنَ األَِْمَال‬
allaty taqaddamta ilayya
f¢h¡ wa nahaytany `anh¡
‫الَّتِي تَقَدَّ ْمتَ ِإلَيَّ فِيهَا َونَهَيْتَنِي َِنْهَا‬
wa aw`adta `alayh¡ al-
`iq¡ba
،َ‫َوأَوْ َِدْتَ َِلَيْهَا العِقَاب‬

And I seek shelter with the nobility of wa a`£dhu bikarami
Your Face wajhika
َ‫كرَمِ وَجْ ِهك‬
َ ‫َوأَُِوذُ ِب‬
lest You impose upon me the situation of an tuq¢many maq¡ma
disgrace and humility alkhizyi wal-dhdhulli
ِّ‫خ ْيِ وَالذُّل‬
ِ ‫أَنْ تُقِيمَنِي مَقَامَ ال‬
on the day when the veils will be yawma tuhtaku f¢hi
exposed, alast¡ru
،ُ‫يَوْمَ تُهْ َتكُ فِيهِ األَسْتَار‬
when the secrets and scandals will be wa tabd£ f¢hi al-asr¡ru wal-
disclosed, fa¤¡’ihu
،ُ‫سرَارُ وَال َفضَاِئح‬
ْ َ‫وَتَ ْبدُو فِيهِ األ‬
when the muscles will writhe with fear wa tar`adu f¢hi alfar¡’i¥u ُ‫وََترْ َِدُ فِيهِ ال َفرَائِص‬
yawma alhasrati wal-
on the day of regret and remorse,
nnad¡mati
،ِ‫سرَةِ وَالنَّدَامَة‬
ْ َ‫يَوْمَ الح‬
the day of exposing the liars, yawma al¡fikati ،ِ‫يَوْمَ اآل ِفكَة‬
the day of the approaching doom, yawma al¡zifati ،ِ‫يَوْمَ اآل ِزفَة‬
the day of assembling, yawma alttgh¡buni ،ِ‫يَوْمَ التَّغَابُن‬
the day of separation, yawma alfa¥li ،ِ‫صل‬
ْ ‫يَوْمَ ال َف‬
the day of punishment, yawma aljaz¡‘i ،ِ‫ج َاء‬
َ ‫يَوْمَ ال‬
the day the measure of which is fifty yawman k¡na miqd¡ruhu
thousand years, khams¢na alfa sanatin
،ٍ‫يَوْمًا كَانَ مِ ْقدَارُهُ َمْسِينَ َأْلفَ سَنَة‬
the day of the blowing, yawma alnnfkhati ،ِ‫يَوْمَ النَّ ْفخَة‬
the day on which the quaking one shall
quake,
yawma tarjufu alrr¡jifatu ُ‫جفُ الرَّاجِفَة‬
ُ ْ‫يَوْمَ َتر‬
followed by oft-repeated commotions, tatba`uh¡ alrr¡difatu ،ُ‫تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّا ِفَة‬
the day of raising the dead, yawma alnnashri ،ِ‫شر‬
ْ َّ‫يَوْمَ الن‬
the day of exposition before the Fire, yawma al`ar¤i ،ِ‫يَوْمَ ال َعرْض‬
the day when all mankind stand before yawma yaq£mu alnn¡su
the Lord of the Worlds, lirabbi al`¡lam¢na
،َ‫يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ ِلرَبِّ العَالَمِين‬
the day when a man flees from his yawma yafirru almar‘u min
brother, akh¢hi
ِ‫يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ال َم ْرءُ مِنْ أَ ِيه‬
his mother, his father, wa ‘ummihi wa ab¢hi ِ‫َوأُمِّهِ َوَأبِيه‬
his wife, and his children, wa ¥¡hibatihi wa ban¢hi ،ِ‫َوصَاحِبَتِ ِه َوبَنِيه‬
the day when the earth and the sides of yawma tashaqqaqu al-ar¤u
the heavens will split asunder, wa akn¡fu alssam¡‘i
،ِ‫يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ األَرْضُ َوأَكْنَافُ السَّمَاء‬
the day when every soul will come yawma ta’ty kullu nafsin
pleading for itself, tuj¡dilu `an nafsih¡
،‫يَوْمَ تَأْتِي كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ُتجَا ِلُ َِنْ نَفْسِهَا‬
the day when they will be relegated to yawma yuradd£na il¡ all¡hi ‫يَوْمَ ُي َر ُّونَ ِإلَدى اللّدهِ فَيُنَبِّدئُهُمْ بِمَدا‬
Allah Who will inform them of what they fayunabbi’uhum bim¡
did, `amil£ ،‫َِمِلُوَا‬
the day when a friend can in naught yawma l¡ yughny mawlan
avail his friend, `an mawlan shay’an
‫يَوْمَ ال يُغْنِي مَ ْولَىً َِنْ مَ ْولَىً شَيْئًا‬
nor can they be helped wa l¡ hum yun¥ar£na َ‫صرُون‬
َ ‫وَال هُمْ يُ ْن‬
save him on whom Allah will have
mercy.
ill¡ man rahima all¡hu ُ‫إِالَّ مَنْ رَحِمَ اللّه‬

Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful,
alrrah¢mu
،ُ‫إِنَّهُ هُوَ ال َع ِي ُ الرَّحِيم‬
the day when they will be returned to yawma yuradd£na il¡
the Knower of the invisible and the `¡limi alghaybi wal- ،ِ‫يَوْمَ ُي َر ُّونَ ِإلَى َِالِمِ الغَيٍِْ وَالشَّهَا َة‬
visible, shshah¡dati
the day when they will be restored to yawma yuradd£na il¡ all¡hi
Allah, their Lord, the Just, mawl¡humu alhaqqi
،ِّ‫يَوْمَ ُي َر ُّونَ ِإلَى اللّهِ مَوْالهُمُ الحَق‬
the day when they come forth from the yawma yakhruj£na mina
graves in haste, al-ajd¡thi sir¡`an
‫سرَاًِا‬
ِ ِ‫جدَاد‬
ْ َ‫خرُجُونَ مِنَ األ‬
ْ ‫يَوْمَ َي‬
ka-annahum il¡ nu¥ubin
as racing to a goal
y£fi¤£na
َ‫كَأَنَّهُمْ ِإلَى ُنصٍٍُ يُو ِفضُون‬
wa ka-annahum jar¡dun
and as locusts spreading abroad,
muntashirun
ٌ‫شر‬
ِ َ‫جرَا ٌ مُنْت‬
َ ْ‫وَكَأَنَّهُم‬
hastening toward the Summoner— muh§i`¢na il¡ aldd¡`y ‫مُهْطِعِينَ ِإلَى الدَّاِِي‬
to Allah, il¡ all¡hi ِ‫ِإلَى اللّه‬
the day of the event inevitable yawma alw¡qi`ati ،ِ‫يَوْمَ الوَاقِعَة‬
when the earth will be shaken with a yawma turajju al-ar¤u
shock, rajjan
،‫يَوْمَ ُترَجُّ األَرْضُ رَجًّا‬
the day when the sky will become as yawma tak£nu alssam¡‘u
molten copper k¡lmuhli
ِ‫يَوْمَ َتكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالمُ ْهل‬
and the hills become as flakes of wool wa tak£nu aljib¡lu k¡l`ihni ِ‫وََتكُونُ الجِبَالُ كَالعِهْن‬
and no familiar friend will ask a wa l¡ yas’alu ham¢mun
question of his friend, ham¢man
،‫وَال يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا‬
the day of the witness and that yawma alshsh¡hidi wal-
whereunto he bears testimony, mash-h£di
،ِ ‫يَوْمَ الشَّا ِهدِ وَالمَشْهُو‬
they day when the angels will come rank yawma tak£nu almal¡’ikatu
on rank. ¥affan ¥affan
.‫يَوْمَ َتكُونُ المَالِئكَةُ صَفًّا صَفًّا‬
O Allah: (please do) have mercy upon all¡humma irham mawqify
my situation on that day (when I will be f¢ dhalika aliyawmi
ِ‫اللّهُمَّ ارْحَمْ مَ ْوقِفِي فِدي ذلِدكَ اليَدوْم‬
stopped for interrogation) for my bimawqify f¢ h¡dh¡
current situation, aliyawmi
،ِ‫بِمَ ْوقِفِي فِي هذَا اليَوْم‬
and do not confound me at that wa l¡ tukhziny f¢ dhalika ‫خ ِنِدي فِدي ذلِدكَ المَ ْوقِدفِ بِمَددا‬
ْ ‫وَال ُت‬
situation for the wrongdoings that I almawqifi bim¡ janaytu
have committed against myself. `al¡ nafs¢ ،‫جَنَيْتُ َِلَى نَفْسِي‬
O my Lord: (please do) group me, on
waj`al y¡ rabbi f¢ dhalika َ‫وَاجْ َعلْ يَدارَبِّ فِدي ذلِدكَ اليَدوْمِ مَدع‬
aliyawmi ma`a awliy¡’ika
that day, with Your intimate servants,
mun§alaq¢ ،‫أَ ْولِيَاِئكَ مُنْطَلَقِي‬
and include me with the company of wa f¢ zumrati muhammadin ُ‫َوفِي زُ ْمرَةِ ُمحَمَّدٍ َوأَ ْهلِ بَيْتِدهِ َِلَديْهِم‬
Muhammad and his Household—peace wa ahli baytihi `alayhimu
be upon them— alssal¡mu mahshar¢ ،‫شرِي‬
َ ْ‫السَّالمُ َمح‬
and make the Pool of him (i.e. the Holy
Prophet) be my arrival point,
waj`al haw¤ahu mawrid¢ ،‫وَاجْ َعلْ حَ ْوضَهُ مَوْ ِر ِي‬
and make me a place among the wa f¢ alghurri alkir¡mi
honorable, white-forehead group, ma¥dar¢
،‫صدَرِي‬
ْ ‫كرَامِ َم‬
ِ ‫َوفِي الغُرِّ ال‬
and give me my Record (of deeds) in my
right hand
wa a`§iny kit¡by biyam¢ny ‫َوأَِْطِنِي كِتَابِي بِيَمِينِي‬
so that I will succeed due to my rewards, hatt¡ af£za bihasan¡t¢ ،‫حَتَّى َأفُوزَ ِبحَسَنَاتِي‬

and You will make my face white,
and You will make easy for me my
reckoning,
and You will make my pan of the Scale
(of deeds) outweigh,
and I will join the triumphant ones
among Your righteous servants
to Your Pleasure and gardens of
Paradise;
O God of the Worlds.
O Allah: I do seek Your protection
against that You may expose me on that
day
in the presence of Your creatures
because of my sins,
or that I may encounter disgrace and
regret due to my wrongdoings,
or that You may make my evildoings
outweigh my good deeds,
or that You may declare my name as
loser amongst Your creatures.
O All-generous, O All-generous,
(I beg You for) pardon, (I beg You for)
pardon,
(I beg You for) covering (my evildoings),
(I beg You for) covering (my evildoings).
O Allah: I also seek Your protection
against including me, on that day, with
the line of the evils
or add me to the row of the wretched
ones.
When You shall distinguish between
Your creatures
and drive each group –according to their
deeds-
to their final abodes in groups,
(please do) line me up, by Your mercy,
with the group of Your righteous
servants,
and drive me with the group of the Your
pious, intimate servants
to the gardens of Your Paradise; O Lord
of the Worlds.
You may then bid him farewell (wad¡’) and say the following:
wa tubayyi¤a bihi wajh¢ ،‫وَتُبَيِّضَ بِهِ وَجْهِي‬
wa tuyassira bihi his¡b¢ ،‫وَتُيَسِّرَ بِهِ حِسَابِي‬
wa turajjiha bihi m¢z¡n¢ ،‫وَُترَجِّحَ بِهِ مِي َانِي‬
wa am¤iya ma`a alf¡’iz¢na َ‫َوأَ ْمضِيَ مَعَ الفَاِئ ِين‬
min `ib¡dika al¥¥¡lih¢na َ‫مِنْ ِِبَا ِكَ الصَّاِلحِين‬
il¡ ri¤w¡nika wa jin¡nika َ‫ِإلَى ِرضْوَاِنكَ وَجِنَاِنك‬
il¡ha al`¡lam¢na .َ‫إِلهَ العَالَمِين‬
all¡humma inn¢ a`£dhu ‫ْضدحَنِي‬
َ ‫اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَُِوذُ ِبكَ مِنْ أَنْ تَف‬
bika min an taf¤ahany f¢
dhalika aliyawmi ِ‫فِي ذِلكَ اليَوْم‬
bayna yaday alkhal¡’iqi
bijar¢rat¢
،‫جرِيرَتِي‬
َ ‫بَيْنَ َيدَي الخَالِئقِ ِب‬
aw an alq¡ alkhiziya wal-
nnad¡mata bikha§yiat¢
،‫خ ْيَ وَالنَّدَامَةَ ِبخَطِيئَتِي‬
ِ ‫أَو أَنْ َألْقَى ال‬
aw an tu¨hira f¢hi sayyi’¡ty
‫سدديِّئَاتِي َِلَددى‬
َ ِ‫أَوْ أَنْ تُظْهِددرَ فِيدده‬

،‫حَسَنَاتِي‬
aw an tunawwiha bayna
alkhal¡’iqi bism¢
،‫َوهَ بَيْنَ الخَالِئقِ بِاسْمِي‬
ِّ ‫أَوْ أَنْ تُن‬
y¡ kar¢mu y¡ kar¢mu ،ُ‫يَا َكرِيمُ يَا َكرِيم‬
al`afwa al`afwa ،َ‫العَفْوَ العَفْو‬
alssitra alssitra .َ‫السِّ ْترَ السِّ ْتر‬

min an yak£na f¢ dhalika
‫اللّهُمَّ َوأَُِوذُ ِبكَ مِدنْ أَنْ َيكُدونَ فِدي‬
alyawmi f¢ maw¡qifi al-

،‫شرَارِ مَ ْوقِفِي‬
ْ َ‫ذِلكَ اليَوْمِ فِي مَوَا ِقفِ األ‬

،‫أَوْ فِي مَقَامِ األَشْقِيَاءِ مَقَامِي‬
wa idh¡ mayyazta bayna
khalqika
َ‫َوِإذَا مَيَّ ْتَ بَيْنَ َلْ ِقك‬
fasuqta kullan bi-a`m¡lihim ْ‫ُالًًّ بِأَِْمَالِهِم‬
ً ‫فَسُقْتَ ك‬
zumaran il¡ man¡zilihim ْ‫زُمَرًا ِإلَى مَنَا ِزلِهِم‬
fasuqny birahmatika
َ‫َسددقْنِي ِبرَحْمَتِددكَ مَددعَ ِِبَددا ِك‬

`ib¡dika al¥¥¡lih¢na
،َ‫الصَّاِلحِين‬
wa f¢ zumrati awliy¡’ika
almuttaq¢na

tidings (to the believers) and the warner

،ُ‫السَّالمُ َِلَ ْيكَ أَيُّهَا السِّرَاجُ المُنِير‬

Peace be upon you; O the intercessor

alssal¡mu `alayka ayyuh¡ ِ‫السَّالمُ َِ َل ْيكَ أَيُّهَا السَّفِيرُ بَيْنَ اللّده‬
alssf¢ru bayna all¡hi wa
between Allah and His creatures.
bayna khalqihi ،ِ‫َوبَيْنَ َلْقِه‬
I bear witness, O the Messenger of Allah,
ash-hadu y¡ ras£la all¡hi ‫أَشْ َهدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ أَنَّكَ كُنْدتَ نُدورًا‬
annaka kunta n£ran f¢
that You were light in the lofty loins
ala¥l¡bi alshsh¡mikhati ،ِ‫ألصْالبِ الشَّا ِمخَة‬
َ ‫فِي ا‬
and purified wombs. wal-arh¡mi almu§ahharati ،ِ‫وَاألَرْحَامِ المُطَهَّرَة‬
The ignorance could not stain you with its lam tunajjska alj¡hiliyyatu
impurities bi-anj¡sih¡
،‫سكَ الجَاهِلِيَّةُ بِ َأْنجَاسِهَا‬
ْ ِّ‫لَمْ تُنَج‬
wa lam tulbiska min
or dress you its gloomy garbs.
mudlahimm¡ti th¢¡bih¡
،‫دلَهِمَّاتِ ثِيَابِهَا‬
ْ ‫سكَ مِنْ ُم‬
ْ ِ‫َولَمْ تُلْب‬
I also bear witness, O the Messenger of wa ash-hadu y¡ ras£la
Allah, that I have faith in you all¡hi ann¢ mu´minun bika
َ‫َوأَشْ َهدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ أَنِّي مُمْمِنٌ ِبك‬
wa bil-a’immati min ahli
and in the Imams from your Household
baytika
،َ‫ألئِمَّةِ مِنْ أَ ْهلِ بَيْ ِتك‬
َ ‫َوبِا‬
and I believe in all that which you have m£qinun bijam¢`i m¡
brought. atayta bihi
،ِ‫مُوقِنٌ ِبجَمِيعِ مَا أَتَيْتَ بِه‬
Satisfactorily and faithfully r¡¤in mu´minun ،ٌ‫رَاضٍ مُمْمِن‬
And I bear witness that the Imams from wa ash-hadu ann al- َ‫ألئِمَّدةَ مِدنْ أَهْدلِ بَيْتِدك‬
َ ‫َوأَشْ َهدُ أَنَّ ا‬
your Household are the signs of (true) a’immata min ahli baytika
guidance, a`l¡mu alhud¡ ،‫أَِْالمُ ال ُهدَى‬
the Firmest Handle, wal-`urwatu alwuthq¡ ،‫وَال ُعرْوَةُ الوُثْقَى‬
and the arguments against the inhabitants wal-hujjatu `al¡ ahli
in this world. aldduny¡
.‫وَالحُجَّةُ َِلَى أَ ْهلِ الدُّنْيَا‬
O Allah: (please) do not make it the last of all¡humma l¡ taj`alhu
my pilgrimage to (the tomb of) Your ¡khira al`ahdi min ziy¡rati
ِ‫اللّهُمَّ ال َتجْعَلْهُ آ ِرَ العَ ْهدِ مِنْ زِيَدارَة‬
Prophet—peace be upon him and his nabiyyka `alayhi wa ¡lihi
Household. alssal¡mu
،ُ‫نَبِيِّكَ َِلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ السَّالم‬
wa in tawaff¢tany fa’inn¢
If you decide to grasp my soul, I will bear
ash-hadu f¢ mam¡ty `al¡
‫َوإِنْ تَوَفَّيْتَنِي فَإِنِّي أَشْ َهدُ فِي مَمَداتِي‬
witness in my death, as same as I have
m¡ ash-hadu `alayhi f¢
born witness in my lifetime,
hay¡ty
‫َِلَى مَا أَشْ َهدُ َِلَيْهِ فِي حَيَاتِي‬
that Your are verily Allah; there is no god annaka anta all¡hu l¡ il¡ha ‫حدَكَ ال‬
ْ َ‫أَنَّكَ َأنْتَ اللّهُ ال إِلهَ إِالَّ َأنْتَ و‬
save You, alone without having any ill¡ anta wahdaka l¡
associate, shar¢ka laka ،َ‫شرِيكَ َلك‬
َ
and that Muhammad is Your servant and wa ann muhammadan
Messenger, `abduka wa ras£luka
،َ‫َوأَنَّ ُمحَمَّدًا َِ ْبدُكَ وَرَسُوُلك‬
and that the Imams from his Household wa ann al-a’immata min َ‫ألئِمَّ َة مِنْ أَهْدلِ بَيْتِدهِ أَ ْولِيَداؤُك‬
َ ‫َوأَنَّ ا‬
are Your intimate servants, Your ahli baytihi awl¢¡u´uka wa
supporters, an¥¡ruka َ‫َوَأْنصَارُك‬
Your Arguments against Your creatures, wa hujajuka `al¡ khalqika ،َ‫جكَ َِلَى َلْ ِقك‬
ُ‫ج‬َ‫ح‬
ُ َ‫و‬

Your representatives amongst Your wa khulaf¡u´uka f¢
servants, `ib¡dika
،َ‫وَ ُلَفَاؤُكَ فِي ِِبَا ِك‬
Your sings in Your lands, wa a`l¡muka f¢ bil¡dika ،َ‫َوأَِْال ُمكَ فِي بِال ِك‬
the custodians of Your knowledge, wa khuzz¡nu `ilmika ،َ‫وَ ُ َّانُ ِِلْ ِمك‬
the keepers of Your secret, wa hafa¨atu sirrka ،َ‫وَحَفَظَةُ سِرِّك‬
and the interpreters of Your Revelation. wa tar¡jimatu wahyika .َ‫وََترَاجِمَةُ وَحْ ِيك‬
O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon all¡humma ¥alli `al¡
Muhammad and the Household of muhammadin wa ¡li ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ َِلَى ُمحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ ُمحَمَّد‬
Muhammad muhammadin

and convey greetings and compliments

from me to the souls of Your Prophet,
Muhammad, and his Household at this
very hour as well as all times.
O the Messenger of Allah: peace and
Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
Allah may not decide this compliment of
me to be the last.
wa balligh r£ha nabiyyika ‫َوبَلِّغْ رُوحَ نَبِيِّدكَ ُمحَمَّددٍ وَآلِدهِ فِدي‬
muhammadin wa ¡lihi f¢
s¡`aty hadhihi wa f¢ kull ً‫سداَِةٍ َتحِيَّدة‬
َ ِّ‫سَاَِتِي هذِهِ َوفِي كُل‬
s¡`atin tahiyyatan minny
wa sal¡man ،‫مِنِّي وَسَالمًا‬
wa alssal¡mu `alayka y¡ ُ‫وَالسَّالمُ َِلَ ْيكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ وَرَحْمَة‬
ras£la all¡hi wa rahmatu
all¡hi wa barak¡tuhu ُ‫اللّهِ َوَبرَكَاتُه‬
l¡ ja`alahu all¡hu ¡khira
tasl¢my `alayka
.َ‫ال جَعَلَهُ اللّهُ آ ِرَ تَسْلِيمِي َِلَ ْيك‬

Fifth: In his book of ‘Misbahh al-Mutahajjid’, Shaykh al-Tusiy mentions that al-Rayyan ibn al-Salt is
reported as saying that Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (a.s) observed fasting on the fifteenth and the
twenty-seventh of Rajab while he was in Baghdad. He then ordered us to offer the prayer that consists
of twelve Rak`ahs at each of which Surah of al-Fatihah and another Surah should be recited. At
the completion of this prayer, it is recommended to recite Surahs of al-Fatihah, al-Tawheed, al-Falaq,
and al-naas each for times. Then it is recommended to recite the following invocations four times
each:
There is no god save Allah; l¡ il¡ha ill¡ all¡hu .ُ‫ال إلهَ إالَّ اللّه‬
Allah is the Most Great; wall¡hu akbaru .‫وَاللّهُ أَكْ َب ُر‬
all glory be to Allah; wa subh¡na all¡hi ،ِ‫وَسُ ْبحَانَ اللّه‬
all praise be to Allah; walhamdu lill¡hi ،ِ‫وَاْلحَ ْمدُ لِلّه‬
and there is neither might nor
wa l¡ hawla wa l¡ quwwata ill¡
ِّ‫وَال حَ دوْلَ وَال قُددوَّةَ إالَّ بِاللّ دهِ الْعَلِددي‬
power save with Allah, the Most
bill¡hi al`aliyy al`a¨¢mi
High, the All-great. .ِ‫الْعَظِيم‬
Then, it is recommended to recite the following invocation four times:
Allah, Allah is my Lord. I all¡hu all¡hu rabby l¡
associate none with Him. a’ushriku bihi shay’an
.‫شرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا‬
ْ ُ‫اللّهُ اللّهُ رَبِّي ال أ‬
Then, it is recommended to recite the following invocation four times:
I never associate anyone with
my Lord.
l¡ ‘ushriku birabby ahadan .‫شرِكُ ِبرَبِّي أَحَدًا‬
ْ ُ‫ال أ‬

Sixth: Shaykh al-±£siy has also reported Abu’l-Q¡sim °usayn ibn R£h—may Allah
have mercy upon him— as saying, “On this day, you may offer a prayer
consisting of twelve Rak`ahs at each of which you may recite S£rah of al-F¡tihah
and any other S£rahs. After each couple of Rak`ahs, you may say the following:

All praise is due to Allah, Who has
not taken a son
and Who has not a partner in the
kingdom,
and Who has not a helper to save
Him from disgrace;
and proclaim His greatness with
thorough proclamation.
O my Supporter throughout my
lifetime!
O my Companion in hardships!
O the provider of me with all graces
that I experience!
O my Succor in my desires!
O the source of success of my
needs!
O my guardian while I am absent!
O He Who is sufficient for me when
I am alone!
O my entertainment in my
loneliness!
You alone conceal my faults!
So, all praise be to You.
You alone overlook my slips.
So, all praise be to You.
You alone revive my deterioration.
So, all praise be to You.
(Please do) send blessings upon
Muhammad and the Household of
Muhammad
and conceal my defects,
and secure my apprehensions,
and oversee my slips,
and pardon my offenses,
and overlook my evildoings
and include me with the People of
Paradise;
the promise of truth which they
were promised .

yattakhidh waladan
،‫خذْ َولَدًا‬
ِ َّ‫اْلحَ ْمدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَت‬
wa lam yakun lahu
shar¢kun f¢ almulki
،ِ‫شرِيكٌ فِي الْمُ ْلك‬
َ ُ‫َولَمْ َيكُنْ لَه‬
wa lam yakun lahu waliyy
mina aldhdhulli
،ِّ‫َولَمْ َيكُنْ لَهُ َولِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّل‬
wa kabbrhu takb¢ran .‫وَكَبِّرْهُ َتكْبِيرًا‬
y¡ `uddty f¢ muddt¢ ،‫يَا ُِدَّتِي فِي مُدَّتِي‬
y¡¥¡hiby f¢ shiddt¢ ،‫يَاصَاحِبِي فِي شِدَّتِي‬
y¡ waliyyy f¢ ni`mat¢ ،‫يَا َولِيِّي فِي نِعْمَتِي‬
y¡ ghiy¡thy f¢ raghbat¢ ،‫يَا غِيَاثِي فِي رَغْبَتِي‬
y¡naj¡hy f¢ h¡jat¢ ،‫يَاَنجَاحِي فِي حَاجَتِي‬
y¡ h¡fi¨y f¢ ghaybat¢ ،‫يَا حَافِظِي فِي غَيْبَتِي‬
y¡ k¡fiyy f¢ wahdat¢ ،‫حدَتِي‬
ْ َ‫يَا كَافِيِّ فِي و‬
y¡ a’unsy f¢ wa hshat¢ ،‫يَا ُأنْسِي فِي وَحْشَتِي‬
anta alss¡tiru `awrat¢ ،‫َأنْتَ السَّاِترُ َِوْرَتِي‬
falaka alhamdu ،ُ‫فَ َلكَ اْلحَ ْمد‬
wa anta almuq¢lu `athrat¢ ،‫َوَأنْتَ الْ ُمقِيلُ َِ ْثرَتِي‬
falaka alhamdu ،ُ‫فَ َلكَ اْلحَ ْمد‬
wa anta almun`ishu ¥ar`at¢ ،‫صرَِْتِي‬
َ ُ‫َوَأنْتَ الْمُنْعِش‬
falaka alhamdu ،ُ‫فَ َلكَ اْلحَ ْمد‬
¥alli `al¡ muhammadin wa
¡li muhammadin
ٍ‫صَلِّ َِلَى ُمحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ ُمحَمَّد‬
w¡stur `awrat¢ ،‫وَاسْ ُترْ َِوْرَتِي‬
wa ¡min raw`at¢ ،‫وَآمِنْ رَوَِْتِي‬
wa aqilny `athrat¢ ،‫َوَأقِلْنِي َِ ْثرَتِي‬
w¡¥fah `an jurm¢ ،‫جرْمِي‬
ُ ْ‫وَاصْ َفحْ َِن‬
wa taj¡waz `an sayyi’¡ty ‫وََتجَاوَزْ َِنْ سَيِّئَاتِي‬
f¢ a¥h¡bi aljannati ِ‫صحَابِ اْلجَنَّة‬
ْ ‫فِي َأ‬
wa `da al¥¥dqi alladhy
k¡n£ y£`ad£na
.َ‫الصدْ ِ الَّذِي كَانُوَا يُو َِدُون‬
ِّ َ‫وَ ِْد‬

When you accomplish the prayer, you should recite S£rahs of al-F¡tihah, al-Tawh¢d, al-
Falaq, al-N¡s, al-K¡fir£n, al-Qadr, and ªyat al-Kursiy seven times. You should then
repeat the following seven times:
There is no god save Allah;
Allah is the Most Great;
Glory be to Allah;
and there is neither might nor
power save with Allah.
You should then say the following seven times:
Allah, Allah is my Lord. I
associate none with Him.
After that, you may submit your needs.

Seventh: As is mentioned in ‘Iqbal al-A`mal’ and some manuscripts of ‘Misbah al-Mutahajjid’, it is
recommended to recite the following supplication on this day:
O He Who has ordered us to
forgive and overlook
and has taken upon Himself to
forgive and overlook!
O He Who did forgive and
overlook:
(please do) forgive me and
overlook (my evildoings) O the All-
generous.
O Allah: surely, all requests have
been rejected,
and all means and ways have been
inaccessible,
and all hopes have been
eradicated,
and all expectations have been cut
off from everybody save You
alone, there is no partner with
You.
O Allah: I find the ways to
requesting from You wide open,
and springs of hoping for You
quenching,
and doors of supplication unlocked
for him who implores You,
and Your aid available for those
who seek it.
I also know that You are in the
position of response for him who
beseeches You,
and in the position of relief for
him who resorts to You,
and that hastening to Your
magnanimity and the reliance
upon Your promise

compensate from the stinginess of
the misery ones
and suffice from that which is
grasped by the mean ones.
And [I know for sure] that You
never screen Yourself against Your
beings
but it is their evildoings that
prevent them from journeying
toward You.
I have also known for sure that the
best provisions of his who intends
to travel to You is a true willpower
by which He chooses You among
others.
Hence, my heart has called at You
with full willpower;
and I pray You in the name of all
supplications said by a hopeful and
thus You have achieved his hope,
or said by a seeker of aid and thus
You have admitted his request,
or said by an aggrieved, depressed
one and thus You have relieved
him,
or said by a guilty sinner and thus
You have forgiven him,
or said by a healthy one and thus
You have perfected Your favors on
him,
or said by a poor one and thus You
have conferred upon him with
Your wealth,
and that these supplications
occupy a considerable position
with You and enjoy a standing with
You—
I pray You to send blessings upon
Muhammad and the Household of
Muhammad
and to settle all my needs for this
world and the Next World.
This is Rajab, the honored and
dignified month,
which You have honored us
through it, being the first of the
Sacred Months,
and You have selected us for this
honor among the other nations.
O the Lord of Magnanimity and
Generosity.

I thus beseech You by Your Name,
the grandest, the grandest, the
grandest,
the most majestic, the most
honorable,
that You have created so that it has
settled under Your Shadow
and it thus shall never transfer to
anyone other than You—
I beseech You to send blessings
upon Muhammad and his
Household, the immaculate,
and to include us, during this
month, with those who practice
acts of obedience to You
and those who hope for Your
admission.
O Allah: (please do) lead us to the
Right Path,
and choose for us the best resting-
place with You, under a dense
shade
and abundant possession. Surely,
You are Sufficient for us! Most
Excellent are You, and in You do
we trust!
Peace be upon His servants, the
chosen,
and His blessings be upon them
all.
O Allah: (please do) bless us on
this day that You have honored,
and covered with Your nobility,
and implanted in the great and
highest Dwelling.
(Please do) send blessings upon
him whom You sent (as Your
Messenger) to Your servants
and whom You accommodated in
the Noble Place.
O Allah: send upon him blessing
that is never-ending being in the
form of thanks to You
and reward to us.
And make easy for us all our
affairs;
and make our end result up to the

out of Your mercy. af¤ala ¡m¡lin¡
،‫ضلَ آمَالِنَا‬
َ ‫َوبَلَّغْتَنَا ِبرَحْمَ ِتكَ َأ ْف‬
Verily, You have power over all innaka `al¡ kull shay‘in
things. qad¢run
،ٌ‫يءٍ َقدِير‬
ْ َ‫إنَّكَ َِلَى كُلِّ ش‬
wa ¥all¡ all¡hu `al¡
May Allah bless and exalt
Muhammad and his Household.

It is worth mentioning that this supplication, which is one of the excellent supplications of Rajab, was
recited by Imam M£s¡ ibn Ja`far al-K¡¨im (a.s) on the day when the ruling
authorities took him to Baghdad. That day was the twenty-seventh of Rajab.
Eighth: As is mentioned in ‘Iqb¡l al-A`m¡l’, it is recommended to recite the following

This supplication has been just mentioned, yet according to the narration of al-Kaf’amiy, within the
acts of the twenty-seventh night of Rajab.
