NARRATIVE REPORT
“It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them something
worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations – – something that will help
them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose
lives are quite different from their own”, said
Katherine Patterson. Having many reading materials will help pupils in enhancing their
imagination, knowledge, and comprehension.
At the beginning of the school year, learners are examined on their ability to read and
on how proficient they are in reading through various reading assessments wherein teachers
determine their reading level. Reading is one of the skills needed by each pupil to succeed.
Reading is a necessary part of social activity (Talley, 2017). For Davis (2014) to function
today, one must know how to read which is required in our daily lives.
