My favorite course so far is Speech Communication because it is a very interesting and

helpful subject and I find my professor very interactive that is why I find it enjoyable whenever
we listen to his class. We tackled about various lessons that we need to keep in mind in order to
be a responsible speaker or communicator in every place and time. As a student, I have learned
that we should always consider each and everyone’s feelings whenever we speak. We all have
different levels of sensitivity and we should all respect that because we all have our personal
problems and grudges that may somehow trigger in some point when someone speaks too
hard about it. In short, we should always be responsible of everything we say. As what the
famous quote say, think before you speak. For me to be a future lawyer, Speech
Communication have absolutely helped me so much to gain my confidence to speak. Lawyers
will always have their special weapon when they are presenting in court which is their ability to
persuade through their words, which means they should always be well-equipped of speaking
in public and that is actually my weakness. I have not been always outspoken since when I was
in high school and our professor encouraged us to be confident and to tell our opinions in times
of having interactions with my classmates and told us that there are no wrong answers. I have
learned different words and it quite improved my vocabulary, also he taught us how to
formulate proper questions to ask to people in some certain situations like rhetorical questions
or an agree or disagree kind of question. As a Filipino citizen, we have always been
underestimated because we barely understand familiar words or speak different languages and
through this course we somehow familiarized different words that we are not aware of. I also
remembered that we also must learn how to be always open-minded for us to respect each and
everyone’s opinions. Whenever someone commits mistakes, we must correct him/her not
make fun of his/her mistake. We also learned to properly construct our sentences and also to
use numerous non-verbal cues that might help us in times of communicating with different
people. This course might actually be the bridge for us to improve our communication skills
and also to boost our confidence. Our professor told us that we will also be a public speaker
someday and we should first practice speaking in smaller groups for us to improve little by little.
It gave us also the chance to connect with my classmates and share ideas for us to enhance our
critical thinking skills. This online class kind of setup might be hard at first but our professor
didn’t consider it as a hindrance for us to have interactions with each other. We learned so
much from him especially in learning how to make proper arguments and also in terms of
impromptu speaking. All in all, speech communication is absolutely my favorite course because
our educator exerts so much of his effort for us, students to have fun while learning.
