used my drones to help victims in the rescue operations during that time,” he says, adding, “I never
thought it would be a useful tool for me but my community and neighboring cities were able to
benefit from my drones.”
1.1.1 About the company
Galli Maps is one of the helpful apps that lets you find the location in alleys with its 360-degree
street views. The 360° street views aren’t quite useful at this time but users will be able to use it
efficiently soon. However, the app allows you to search for specific house numbers and also
provides accuracy while directing various places. The app is getting popular among e-commerce
platforms and ride-sharing companies. There are other available apps like Google Maps and Apple
Maps, Galli Maps is here to create its own value in the market. Unsurprisingly, it has also received
awards for being a startup, innovative product, and rising star at the Info developers ICT Awards.
Maharjan recalls a few instances that led him towards launching Galli Maps. As a part of the
Kasthamandap Rebuild Committee, he was helping friends gather information on Kasthamandap
but realized there was near to null archaeological information or documentation. He then learnt the
concept called photogrammetry which he shares is a German technology that merges 2D pictures
and converts them into 3D pictures. “This helped immensely in taking forward the reconstruction
work,” he shares. Later, he had the opportunity to go to India for South Asia Connect to get trained
in entrepreneurial studies. “Till then whatever I was doing was just a hobby but the training helped
me understand the nuances of business, about entrepreneurship and most importantly, the value of
sustaining in the market,” he states. He, thus, decided to leave his engineering job and started 3D
modelling and mapping of heritage sites and different cities which helped in urban planning.
Features of Galli maps
Airlift Technologies CEO and cofounder Raj Bikram Maharjan says that the Galli Maps app is
developed after mapping the alleys (gallies) which are not visible on Google Maps.
“Presently, Google Maps is popular worldwide but it is not apt for Nepal. However, the Galli Maps
app is developed by Nepalese to suit our country’s map needs,” Maharjan said.
Although in beta form, Galli Maps can act as an effective tool for locating our destinations. The
app lets us search for house numbers. Soon, users will also get the popular 360 Street view,
and find directions to a choice of location.

Innovation award at the Info developers ICT Awards. With recognition comes further
responsibility and plans to further enhance the service Galli Maps has been providing in the days
to come. Using high resolution drone image, the app has house ID numbers of Kathmandu
Metropolitan, Kirtipur Municipality, and Kageshwori Municipality. Soon, it will have the house
numbers of Lalitpur Metropolitan and other cities and he has plans to expand to other regions too.
1.2.2 Objective of the organization
“Galli Maps is a mobile application designed and developed in Nepal. The purpose of Galli Maps
is to help locate houses and landmarks. The name ‘Galli’ comes from the narrow alleys of the
Kathmandu valley which is not visible on other map platforms,”
1.2.3 Overall organization structure
The CEO being the top executive is followed by the Business Consultant and HR Manager of the
organization. Next under these executives comes the General Manager who looks closely over all
the other divisions namely: R&D Department, Technical Department, Account Department,
Business Development Department, IT Department, Support Department, and the Front Desk
Officers. The channel partners are the people associated with the organization working in different
branches of the organization.

these changes. Here are some key effects of technology within the market and the potential
responses by Galli Maps:
1. Digital Transformation: Effect: Technology has driven the shift from traditional paper
maps to digital maps and navigation services. Consumers now prefer the convenience and
real-time updates offered by digital solutions. Response: Galli Maps must embrace digital
transformation by focusing on developing and enhancing their digital map products and
navigation apps. This may involve investing in advanced mapping software, location-based
technologies, and user-friendly interfaces.
2. Real-time Navigation and GPS: Effect: GPS technology has revolutionized the way
people navigate, providing real-time location information, turn-by-turn directions, and live
traffic updates. Response: Galli Maps should integrate GPS capabilities into their
applications, offering accurate and up-to-date navigation services. They can partner with
GPS providers or develop their GPS technologies to improve navigation accuracy.
3. Mobile and App-based Solutions: Effect: The rise of smartphones and mobile
applications has made maps and navigation services readily accessible to users on the go.

routes based on historical data.
7. Competing with Tech Giants: Effect: Technology giants, such as Google Maps and Apple
Maps, dominate the market, making it challenging for smaller companies like Galli Maps
to compete. Response: Galli Maps should identify and focus on its unique selling points
and target niche markets. They can differentiate themselves through specialized map
features, excellent customer support, or localized services.
In conclusion, technology has had a profound impact on the map market, requiring Galli Maps to
adapt and innovate continually. By embracing digital transformation, incorporating advanced
technologies, and leveraging their strengths, Galli Maps can position itself competitively and meet
the evolving needs of its users.
1.3.3 Issues or constraints within the environment which influence the organization
1. Technological Advancements and Competitiveness: As technology evolves rapidly, the
mapping and navigation industry is continually innovating. Galli Maps must keep up with
the latest technological advancements to remain competitive. Failing to do so could result
in outdated services, leading to a loss of market share.

privacy concerns are a significant issue. Stricter regulations and public awareness
regarding data privacy could impact how Galli Maps collects and utilizes data, requiring
the organization to adopt robust data protection measures.

over time. If Galli Maps doesn't align its offerings with evolving user demands, it might
lose users to competitors that offer more desirable features or user experiences.

3.1 Conclusions
My internship as an accountant at Airlift Technology has been an enriching journey that has
equipped me with practical insights into the world of finance and accounting. Throughout my
tenure, I gained a comprehensive understanding of financial operations within a dynamic and
innovative tech company. From handling daily transactions to preparing financial reports and
collaborating with cross-functional teams, this experience has allowed me to apply theoretical
knowledge in a real-world setting. I have honed skills in data analysis, financial management, and
communication, which are essential for a successful career in the financial sector. Moreover,
interacting with seasoned professionals and working alongside a dedicated team has provided me
with a supportive learning environment and a glimpse into the intricacies of a tech-driven business
landscape. This internship has not only enhanced my technical competencies but has also fostered
personal growth, adaptability, and a deeper appreciation for the role of finance in organizational
success. As I transition from intern to a future finance professional, I am grateful for the
opportunities Airlift Technology provided me and am confident that the lessons learned here will
serve as a strong foundation for my future endeavors in the financial world.
3.2 Recommendations
More opportunities for students to intern in their organization must be established. The intern
would also recommend the organization to continue giving internship placements to as many
students as they can because some miss this experience which is also important requirement of the
university due to the fact that they failed to get placements.
Continuous supervision of students, the intern recommends the university to carry out the continual
supervision and monitoring of the students during the internships training so as to encourage them
to perform the duties fully and accurately. This will also put a close link between the academic
supervisors so as to foster appropriate assessment of what the interns are doing in the field or what
they have been facing during placement.
The company has a policy of 6 months internship. It must be made in 3 months as the increment
or promotion of the interns after 3 months encourages them to learn more and in an efficient
13
SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
manner. If the internship period is 6 months, they will have to wait for 6 months to complete the
internship first and will take time to be eligible to be an employee in the same or different
organization and will create a waste of time. So, the company must reconsider the policy of 6
months internship period.
