DC Light Wiring Board Project Guideline

General Instructions:
1. Each group should consist of 5 members. (Minus points for each group if there are
students with no group.)
2. Submit the project report on December 07, 2023.
3. Set your pages in letter (8.5 x 11 inch) size with normal margin (1 inch on all sides) and
use 12 pt font size.
4. Use Multisim or Proteus application software to draw your circuits if necessary.
(Optional)

Objective: Design and construct a DC light wiring board demonstrating series connection,
parallel connection, and series-parallel connection of bulbs. Include computations, along with
observations on bulb brightness when one bulb is removed or added to the connection. A
project report must be submitted during the demonstration on December 07, 2023.
Materials:

 12" by 15" plywood board

 Bulbs (at least 11)
 Bulb receptacles (1 per bulb)
 Wires
 Wire strippers
 Screwdriver
 Switch (optional)
 Battery or power supply
NOTE: Use dimmable light bulbs
Steps:
1. Prepare the Plywood Board:
 Cut the plywood to the specified size (12" by 15").
 Sand the edges for a smooth finish.
2. Arrange the Bulb Receptacles:
 Position the bulb receptacles evenly on the plywood board.
 Ensure each receptacle has its own space and is securely attached.
3. Wiring for Series Connection (At least 3 Bulbs):
 Connect three bulbs in series using wires.
 Each bulb should have its receptacle for easy removal and connection.
4. Wiring for Parallel Connection (At least 3 Bulbs):
 Connect three bulbs in parallel using wires.
 Ensure individual receptacles for each bulb.
5. Wiring for Series-Parallel Connection (At least 5 Bulbs):
 Combine series and parallel connections to achieve at least 5 bulbs in the circuit.
 Pay attention to the proper wiring order to maintain the connections.
6. Secure Wiring:
 Use clips or cable ties to secure the wires neatly along the plywood.
 Avoid loose or tangled wires.
7. Optional: Add a Switch (if not using a battery holder):
 If using a power supply, consider incorporating a switch into the circuit for on/off
control.

8. Test the Connections:

 Before finalizing the setup, test each circuit to ensure bulbs light up according to
their connection type.
9. Observations on Brightness:
 Record observations on the brightness of bulbs when one bulb is removed or
added in each type of connection.
 Note any changes in brightness and analyze the impact on the circuit.
10. Computations:
 Include computations for electrical parameters such as current (I), voltage (V),
and resistance (R) for each load in a circuit.
 Document any calculations related to power (P) using the formula P = IV.
11. Secure Components:
 Ensure all components are securely attached to the plywood board.
12. Project Report for Demonstration (December 13, 2023):
 Prepare a project report to be submitted during the demonstration.
 The report should encompass project objectives, methodology, results,
observations, and conclusions.
13. Final Inspection:
 Double-check the connections, ensuring they align with series, parallel, and
series-parallel configurations.
14. Documentation:
 Provide a detailed documentation including circuit diagrams, computations, and
observations.
 Include any troubleshooting steps undertaken during the project.
15. Submission:
 Submit the completed DC light wiring board, documentation, computations, and
the project report during the demonstration on December 07, 2023.
 Remember to prioritize safety and seek assistance if needed, especially when
dealing with electrical components.
