Date: March 4, 2024 (Monday)

Grade: Grade 10- MATATAG
Time: 2:00-3:00

I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD: Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of
combinatorics and probability.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Is able to use precise counting technique and
probability in formulating conclusions and making decisions.
C. Learning Competency
MELC’s: Solves problems involving permutations. (M10SP-IIIb-1)
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Permutations
B. References: Mathematics 10 LM, Our World of Math 10 pp. 208- 212
C. Materials: chalkboard, illustrative examples, PowerPoint Presentation
III. PROCEDURE
A. Drill/Review
Give the permutations of the following mentally.
1. P (4, 2)
2. P (5, 3)
3. P (6, 1)
4. P (3, 3)
5. P (7, 5)
Give the value of the following factorial.
1. 6 !
2. 10 !
3. 8 !
4. 7 !
5. 9 !
B. MOTIVATION
Read the formula allowed.
n!
P=n! P=
n1 ! n2 ! n3 ! ...n k

n!
P(n , r )= P=(n−1)!
(n−r )!
C. LESSON PROPER
1. ACTIVITY “What Permutation am I?”
Group activity: Read and analyze the situations/problems carefully. One member will
state the formula to be used, and another member will state the permutation notation.
After that, the other group will choose another member to solve the problem on the
board. The first group who can get the correct answer will receive the points.

2. ANALYSIS
Discuss the difference of the four permutations.
3. ABSTRACTION
(The teacher will give additional information and further explanation based on the
student’s answer.)
4. APPLICATION
Think of a real-life situation that shows any of the four permutations.
IV. EVALUATION
(The score of their assessment will be based on the results of their group activity.)
V. ASSIGNMENT
Directions: Answer the following in your Mathematics notebook.
1. Define combination.
2. Differentiate combination from permutation.
