Course Description ….
The main objective of the course is to prepare students with basic
knowledge of how to design a small scale hydropower plants (on run of
rivers ).
Course Objectives The scope can cover from mini hydropower to medium scale hydro power
developments for sustainable development..
….
…..
After completing this course, students will be able to
CLO 1 – Classify the different sources of energy such as renewable and
non renewable energy sources, hydropower, solar , coal , wind,
geothermal , biomass etc .
CLO 2 – Apply the hydrologic and topographic surveying principles of
engineering for calculation of renewable energy amount
Course Learning particularly that of hydropower energy amount..
outcomes (CLO) CLO 3 – Design of each hydraulic compartments constituting a mini to
micro hydro power plant, including: weir, intakes, settling basin,
head race, surge tank/forebay.
CLO. 4 – Create a road map of each system components of hydropower
plant beginning from source to generation of electricity.
CLO 5 – Analyze economic aspects of micro hydropower projects energy
systems, such as investment cost, operating cost, cost-benefit
analysis , etc.
