III: PROBLEM PRESENTED:

The client is seeking help for educational assistance since family cannot support for
his need of being a college student.

IV: HISTORY OF THE PROBLEM

The client Jonathan Macaraeg have some difficulties to pay his tuition fee at school.
Based on interview to Jonathan’s mother she said that on last February 17 2020, on that
year his mother could not give some support for his study because all of her salary and
financial assistance from 4P’s is only enough for their house and for the vitamins and
education of her son Joel Macaraeg the youngest brother of Jonathan who having dawn
syndrome.

In the morning of February 16, 2020 Jonathan called her mother on phone to send
him money to pay his tuition fee at school and that day is the last day for them to go school
and pay their tuition fees but Jonathan Mother Erene told him that she don’t have enough
money for that because his father Peter Macaraeg is having some sickness and she need to
buy some medicine for his father.

On the next day Jonathan called his sister to lend some money for his tuition fee.
Jonathan called sometimes to his sister if it is needed or emergency and her sister could not
give some support because she also have her own family. And that day his sister send him
Php500.00 to pay for his tuition fee and Jonathan go to school to ask some promissory note
for him to take examination

V: BACKGROUND

 The client is the son of a Pantawid beneficiary of barangay Saliao, Esperanza, Sultan
Kudarat. He is the fourth child among the family. He graduated in elementary at Esperanza
Central School and finish Secondary level at Esperanza National High school. Recently he is
a second year college at Medical Mission Group, General Santos city taking up Bachelor of
Science in Social Work. He choice to take this course because he aims to help people
belong to poverty since he is also one of this group experiencing difficulties in economic
living.

Jonathan Macaraeg is also a working student but because of pandemic the owner of
the food establishment told him to find some new job because they will close due to the
reduce number of customers come in their stores. He felt sad of this situation happened
because he lost his job which is the one support him in financial matters, to be able to finish
his studies and achieve his dream in life.

But in spite of his problems encountered he still pursues his endeavors in life and
seeking some possible chance to find another extra work. Jonathan has a positive outlook in
life; He has a good average and a dean list in the said school. He presently stayed and
rented a boarding house at Apopong, General Satos city.

FAMILY

The parents of the client are both Ilonggo and originated from the place where they
are presently living. His father is working before as construction laborer but due to his illness
he stops his work.

While his mother is working housemaid and sometimes doing laundry to their
neighbors just to earn additional income. Other members of the family are still living in their
house since they haven’t any stable job due to Pandemic.

The family relationship is good that they show concern to each other and most taking
care of the youngest child Joel who is a person with disability. They have a positive attitude
with their neighbors; participate in church and community activities.

 Macaraeg family lives in Purok Liway-way, Barangay Saliao, Esperanza with plenty
of neighborhood around. They use deep well pump as their water source and noticed a good
and clean inside and outside of their residence. The schools, churches and Market are
nearby their place wherein it is easy and accessible to the family.

Base on the data gathered, there were trending cases of out of school youth in the
locality in which most of their neighbors family source of income are came from farming,
street vending, construction laboring and tricycle driving. Thus, it makes challenges to the
client to strive and become successful someday.

VI: ASSESSMENT TAKEN

Jonathan sought for the scholarship for his study to pursue his dreams and help his
mother and father in the present time.

Jonathan showed a great motivation and interest to participate and cooperate in the
referral for his financial problem. The change potential for Jonathan’s problem is quite bright
because the resources and services that could help him are available in nearby agencies
and can be tapped since they are qualified to avail such services which can be big help for
him and for his parents. He is an indigent which is financial assistance he going to receive is
a big help for them.

VII: INTERVENTION PLAN

Goal: The help the client avail scholarship program of CHED and finish his studies in
college.

IX: EVALUATION

With the participation of the client, all information necessary for the helping process
has been gathered through intake interview during initial phase of helping processing.

After initial phase, the social worker and the client formulated the goals which will be
focus of helping relationship.

After this evaluation the client told me that this case study report will be his
requirements to avail CHED- Tulong Dunong Scholarship 2021.

X: RECOMMENDATION

The study shows that client is in need financial assistance to support his studies and
finish in college, therefore he is recommended for a scholarship program offer by your
agency.
