Global Citizenship Essay

The Ambassador School of Global Leadership wants students to become influential

leaders, and be independent for colleges to be self-sufficient. Throughout our high school career,

we can develop knowledge, ability skills, and strategies so we can be self-manageable with our

future responsibilities. As young adults, we learn to become capable and to work with confidence

with our teachers and peers in the ASGL community. Growing and learning to become a leader,

is having the potential to be a risk-taker regarding academic achievements. As students, we

create qualities not as a student but also as a person, to achieve our goals as a global citizen.

Being in a community and allowed to experience self-growth with a positive mindset, we can

make an impact on others as the next generation of global citizens. Being a next-generation

leader from ASGL is understanding the capabilities and strengths of a global citizen with

younger generations. A global citizen creates an open-minded environment in which we bring a

diverse and secure space for our communities.

The efforts and qualities made as a global citizen are being open-minded and caring,

about how actions can be a role model and influence those individuals around them. As a person,

and as a global citizen, being influenced by many different role models has taught me different

capabilities in life. My older brother was one of them, he suffered from a chronic lung disease

cystic fibrosis but was able to shine light through a positive mindset. My brother passed away

but taught me lessons throughout my childhood about how his disease isn't an excuse to be

successful. He showed me that obstacles thrown in life aren't just difficulties, it's a lesson. He

taught me that difficulties aren't an excuse to justify our problems, it is about having a positive

mindset while dealing with a situation. He was a person who suffered but still wanted to be

successful and be able to impact other people with his actions and decisions. My brother

impacted my life, by teaching me global citizenship, and taught me that being open-minded is

about caring about the situation and that there is always light under a rock. His goal was to teach

me to become a self-motivated and confident person despite my obstacles as a person. He taught

me that there is no excuse for achieving our goal. It's about being a better version of yourself and

can make an influence on others. His action of being a leader has helped me grow as a person

and think over time about how achievements are taken by steps and not leaps.

Through my years at ASGL, I’ve been able to become a global citizen through my

difficulties and achievements as a student. Becoming an inquirer and reflective learner by

considering other's strengths and opinions to become an open-minded person. As a global

citizen, becoming confident within myself was a challenge, especially being an introverted

person. Being an independent learner in my high school career was being able to open up and get

assistance from counselors, teachers, and peers to develop academic skills. One of my strengths

as a student was reflecting on new opportunities as a chance for success and self-confidence. I

reflected and chose to step out of my comfort zone and join the Associated Student Body. I've

been able to develop new strengths as a student and work with my peers to create activities for

our school community. One of my biggest challenges was working and participating in academic

activities and extracurricular activities. Being able to be involved in clubs is a way of learning

and creating a new environment for others. One of my greatest accomplishments is being able to

participate as a leader in National Honor Society community service, in which we do school

beatification and develop leadership skills in the school community. As for myself, I’ve created

new skills and strategies where I'm able to manage my responsibilities academically and

personally as a student. Being a global citizen is developed and earned through academic work

and service in your school or outside community. Learning and developing skills as a

multitasker, inquirer, and learner, and managing obstacles as a high school student is a major way

to improve and prepare for future challenges.

Going into the real world to face challenges and know the importance and values within

our decisions can help us achieve our goals in life. Throughout high school, we practice and

develop strategies for overcoming academic obstacles. In a way, we become academic leaders by

being able to balance the importance of being a risk taker and experiencing new opportunities in

our lives which allows us to be successful. Personal development is taken by steps and through

experience and opportunities, which teaches us to become determined people in reaching our

academic and personal goals. Having to face difficult obstacles outside your comfort zone,

strengthens our capacity as global citizens to achieve and explore new platforms in life. As a

person, I would like to pursue a future career in which I'm able to show others skills and

knowledge about my passion, which consists of biology, psychology, or becoming a doctor. I’m a

person who still has the curiosity to explore new pathways, knowing that finding the right spot is

taken in steps and can’t be decided within a short time. The quality in myself as a global citizen

is learning from experience and leaping forward can make a change in our self-growth. As global

leaders, we consider the determinations and the progress of exploring these opportunities for our

own and others.

The qualities of a global citizen are treating people with respect, honesty, and being

capable of taking major responsibility for themselves. The effort to become self-sufficient is

creating skills and practicing them as an open-minded individual. As students, we reflect on the

influence we learn from our community, from our peers, teachers, and staff, and grow as young

adults. As a student at ASGL, I’ve been able to understand that making an influential impact on

others can be through caring and having a positive mindset toward them. My way of expressing

myself as a global citizen toward others is by sharing my skills which makes others become

risk-takers in today's world to become global citizens when obstacles are in our paths. As

individuals, we are capable of creating teams by creating qualities, being curious, and being

committed which allows future success in our goals. Being a global citizen is taken by steps and

challenges in our growth, which allows our efforts to become an accomplishment and make a

change toward our communities. A collaborative effort can make a difference in a community as

a global citizen.
