Centre of gravity is offset from centre line and units are top-heavy in some cases. Lift only with adequate equipment and trained personnel. Transport the equipment only in the upright position marked. Do not overturn and transport in a horizontal position Improper lifting and handling can cause serious or fatal personal injury and substantial property damage. SIMOVERT converters are packed at the factory as necessary to resist the stresses and climatic conditions likely to occur during shipment and in the country of destination. Observe the instructions for transport, storage and proper handling given on the packing The consignment must not be stored outdoors nor stacked! The storage area must be well ventilated and dry. (See also Description “Current-Source DC Link Converters 68023. (Order No. 6SC2300-8BU76.)) The converters are mounted on wooden pallets for handling by means of forklift trucks. Converters that have been unpacked can also be handled by crane, using the lifting eyes or transport rails attached to them. Take care to ensure even distribution of the load. The force must be applied evenly and vertically particularly when using the lifting eyes . ‘Avoid severe shocks and vibration, @.g. when setting the converters down. ‘The converter can be installed once the consignment has been unpacked and examined for completeness and possible damage. The converters are suitable for use in general operating areas (DIN VDE 0558/July 1987 Edition, Part 1/Section §.4.3.2.4). For further information, see Description "Current-Source DC Link Converters 6SC23..”, Chapter 3 (Order No. 6SC2300-88U76). The units must be installed in dry and dust-free areas. The supply air must be free of corrosive gases. If the above requirements are not met, it will be necessary to filter the supply air to the room or, if the air is dust-laden, to fit fiter mats on the ventilation grilles in the cabinet doors. The ambient conditions in the converter room must not exceed those corresponding to humidity rating F according to DIN 40040 and a temperature of 95 °C; otherwise the equip- ment must be derated as stipulated in the Descriotion *Current-Source DC Link Converters 6SC23" (Order No. 6SC2300-88U76). The converters have degree of protection IP20 (standard) according to DIN VDE 0470. Siemens AG SWE 469 511,9052.76 M10 7 SMOVERT A Commissioning, Programs ‘The units aro intended for floor-mounting; each cabinet has four holes for anchoring it to the foundation by means of M12 bolts. For proper ventilation, the clearance between the top of the converter fan and the ceiling must be at least 400 mm for type A converters, 100 mm for type B and D converters and 300 mm for type C and E converters. The cubicles may be placed against a wall. However, a clearance of at least 500 mm is ad- visable in order to facilitate installation and possible later relocation. The cooling air for the power section is drawn in through the ventilation grilles in the lower part ‘of the cabinet doors and the heated air is discharged through ventilation grilles in the roof panel or through the fan itself. Alternative methods of supplying the air from below through false floors, air ducts, etc. can also be employed. 1.1.2. Transport damage WARNING ‘A unit damaged during transport has been subjected to imper- missible stress. It must not be connected to the supply until a proper high-voltage test has been performed. Failure to observe this warning may result in fatal or severe per- sonal injury or substantial property damage. Thoroughly inspect the equipment before accepting shipment from the shipping company. Compare each item received against the packing slip. Any shortage or damage should be re- ported promptly to the carrier. if any concealed loss or damage is discovered, file a claim promptly with the carrier, requesting him to to make an inspection. Twice the power output can be obtained by connecting two SIMOVERT A power sections in parallel. With this arrangement, 12-pulse connections are available on both the line and motor sides. 12-pulse connections minimize phase effects on the system and reduce the oscillating torques and additional losses of the induction machine. Figs, 1.4 to 1.7 show the 6-pulse and 12-pulse configurations which can be implemented with SIMOVERT A converters. They consist in each case of 2 converter systems operating in par- allel mode. The connection shown in Fig. 1.4 is particularly suitable for many practical applica: tions since it burdens the system with fewer harmonics and allows a standard three-phase mo- tor to be used. The line-side transformer circuit design is typical for high-output systems. With lower power outputs, one converter system can be operated directly on the mains supply, while the second is connected via a delta-star transformer (Fig. 1.7). ‘Siemens AG SWE 459 511 9052 76 JM-101 15 SMOVERT A Commissioning, Progtems tt must be ensured with all connection methods that circulating currents cannot develop between systems 1 and 2, i.e. the systems must be electrically isolated from one another at (at least) one point (6-phase machine or via isolating transformer). This is particularly important in cases where several parallel-connected units are supplied by the same system. In the case of motors with 2 separate windings, it must be ensured that the winding system is correctly assigned to the converter system. Since converter system 2 lags behind system 1 by 30° 1, the winding/converter system assignment is as follows: Converter system 1+ motor winding system 1 (+30°) Converter system 2. motor winding system 2 Li 2 us *) This connection with a three- winding transformer of vector group Dy11 Dd0 is given as an example. Figs. 1.8 to 1.9 show the 6-pulse and 12-pulse configurations which can be implemented with SIMOVERT A converters. They consist in each case of 2 converter systems operating in parallel mode. The connection shown in Fig. 1.8 is particularly suitable for many practical applications since it burdens the system with fewer harmonics and allows a standard three: phase motor to be used. It must be ensured with all connection methods that circulating currents cannot develop between systems 1 and 2, i.e, the systems must be electrically isolated from one another at (at least) one point (6-phase machine or via isolating transformer). This is particularly important in cases where several parallel-connected units are supplied by the same system. In the case of motors with 2 separate windings, it must be ensured that the winding system is correctly assigned to the converter system. Since converter system 2 lags behind system 1 by 30° el, the winding/converter system assignment is as follows: Converter system 1 * motor winding system 1 (+30°) Converter system 2 -> motor winding system 2 Siemens AG SWE 459 511.9052 76 JM-101 2 SNOVERT A Commssoning, Programs *) This connection with a three- winding transformer of vector group Dy11 Dd0 is given as an example. With the inverter and ramp generator also enabled, an ON command causes the drive speed to be ramped up to the setpoint value. Blocking of the setpoint value by an L signal causes immediate blocking of the setpoint input to the ramp generator and of the 2nd additional setpoint after the RFG so that the drive decelerates to the preset minimum speed (minimum frequency) along the preset down ramp.
