ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine and analyze the relationship between the reading
comprehension skills and the performance of Grade 11 ICT learners in Computer Systems Servicing
first quarter examination during S.Y. 2023 – 2024. The study utilized the descriptive research design
and involved 123 learners to gather data. Based on the findings, there is a significant relationship
between the students’ reading comprehension skills and their CSS first-quarter examination results,
highlighting the need for targeted intervention strategies that will enhance the performance level of
the learners in their specialized subject. Proposed interventions include the development of
specialized reading modules focusing on the technical language and jargon inherent in CSS materials.
These modules will help learners comprehend the complexities of CSS terminology, thereby
enhancing their knowledge of the subject matter. Integrating visual learning resources, such as
diagrams and illustrations into CSS instruction caters to those who prefer visual aids. Interactive
workshops dedicated to effective reading comprehension strategies tailored for CSS to provide
practical tools for learners. Improve inclusivity in learning by enhancing accessibility to support
resources, diversifying instructional strategies, and promoting collaborative learning environments.
Additionally, providing regular feedback, assessments, and offering remedial sessions for learners
requiring additional support constitute key components of the proposed interventions. The long-term
perspective involves exploring curriculum integration and supporting sustained efforts to improve
Computer Systems Servicing literacy skills. Further research is encouraged to evaluate the long-term
impact of these interventions on reading comprehension and CSS performance of Grade 11 ICT
students.
