In Paris, the Seine River became a witness to countless celebrations, while in Srinagar, the reflection of houseboats
on Dal Lake shimmered like stars in the night. The connection between these two worlds, though separated by
miles, was palpable in the shared essence of celebration — a universal language that transcended cultural
nuances.
Paris and Kashmir both boast rich cultural tapestries. Paris is renowned for its French lace which is highly
regarded for its intricate and delicate designs, and it has been used in haute couture and luxury fashion for
centuries. Kashmir, with its amalgamation of Persian, Central Asian, and Indian influences, is particularly famous
for its detailed handwoven carpets and tapestries, often showcasing traditional motifs and designs.
The love for vibrant colors is a common thread between the two. In Paris, the cityscape is adorned with colorful
flower markets, artistic graffiti, and lively street performances. Similarly, Kashmir bursts into a riot of colors
during celebrations, with intricate Rangoli patterns, decorated Shikara vibrant traditional attire, and the colorful
displays of the Mughal Gardens.
Culinary : Both regions boast unique culinary offerings. Paris is celebrated for its gourmet cuisine, from delicate
pastries to fine wines. Kashmir, with its rich culinary heritage, offers delicacies like Wazwan dishes and the
aromatic Kahwa tea, providing a sensory feast for locals and visitors alike.
While the cultural, historical, and geographical contexts differ significantly, these similarities highlight the universal human tendencies to celebrate life, appreciate beauty,
and express joy through vibrant colours and cultural festivities. The convergence of these elements creates a beautiful mosaic of shared experiences that transcend borders
and connect people across the globe.

Shakaras are symbolic of Kashmir's rich cultural heritage and its close
connection to its natural surroundings. Whereas, Houseboats in Kashmir
are known for their unique architecture, and the windows play a crucial
role in defining their aesthetic. Maps are often associated with exploration
and discovery. They can represent a journey, both physical and
metaphorical, and evoke a sense of wanderlust or curiosity.
The design strategy for the hotel LeMéridien
Srinagar seamlessly integrates contemporary
modern aesthetics with the region's renowned
craftsmanship in tapestry making and
woodwork. Leveraging Kashmir's fame for stone
craftsmanship, its techniques are incorporated to
elevate the design. The infusion of mid-century
influences further enhances the overall aesthetic. The
design approach aims to offer a unique and
sophisticated experience that resonates with both Le
Méridien's identity and the distinctive artistic
heritage of Kashmir.
