A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching Arts

Grade II
I. Learning outcomes
At the end of the lesson, 80% pupils are expected to:
a. Identify the primary and secondary colors
b. Discuss how colors can be used to express feelings and convey ideas in art.
c. Draw and color the objects with primary and secondary colors.

IV. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
The teacher will greet the students and ask if they have already eaten their breakfast.
2. Prayer
The teacher will call the assigned student to lead the prayer.
3. Checking of Attendance
The teacher will call the student’s name and students will say “present, teacher!”
4. Classroom Rules
The teacher will give some classroom rules
 Keep your eyes on your Teacher
 Raise your hand if you want to answer
 Avoid talking to your classmates during discussion

B. Recall

The teacher will ask some questions regarding the previous lesson.

C. Unlocking of Difficulties

The teacher will show two words with missing letters. The students will be grouped into two
and guess the missing letters in the words.

(After the students guess the missing letters, the teacher will let the pupils read the definition of
the word “primary” and “secondary”)
1. Motivation

The teacher will show pictures of fruits, then ask some questions.
What is the name of these fruits?
Which among these fruits is your favorite?

2. Presentation

Our topic for today is about “Primary and Secondary Colors”.

3. Discussion

Ask students the colors of the fruits and explain further the definition of primary and
secondary. Introduce the primary colors; red, blue, and yellow and the secondary colors;
orange, green and purple. Give more examples of objects that are primary and secondary
colors. Discuss that primary colors are the original colors and secondary colors are
produced when primary colors are mixed together.

4. Generalization

The teacher will ask the following questions:


What does primary and secondary mean?
What are the primary and secondary colors?
How are they different from each other?

5. Application

The teacher will group the class into two. The first group will do the activity entitled
“Color me”. What they need to do is color the objects with their appropriate colors.

For the second group, the title of their activity is “Draw me”. They need to draw any
objects that has the color of the primary and secondary colors. Two objects each for
primary and secondary colors.
GROUP 1
“COLOR ME”
Direction: Color the objects with their appropriate colors.

GROUP 2
“DRAW ME”
Direction: Draw any 2 objects each that has the color of the primary and secondary
colors.
6. Valuing

The teacher will ask the students how they can use the primary and secondary colors to
express themselves.

7. Evaluation

The teacher will give a short multiple choice quiz.


Direction: Encircle the letter of your answer.
V. Assignment

Bring any object that is color red, blue, and yellow or orange, green, and purple, that you
can find in your home.
