Creep coefficient & Shrinkage strain According to ACI 209.2R-08 By: Dr. Mahmoud El-Kateb
Version 1.0
The standard conditions for both creep and shrinkage are: Table A.1
Age of concrete at load applications, t 0 = 7 days (moist curing)
Ambient relative humidity = 40 percent
Minimum member thickness = 150 mm (average thickness)
Concrete consistency (slump) = 70 mm
Fine aggregate content by weight = 50 percent
Air content = 6 percent
Ultimate creep coefficient, fu = 2.35 Eq. (A-19)
Ultimate shrinkage strain, eshu = 780 x 10-6 Eq. (A-2)
INPUT DATA:
The age of loading factor:
Age at application of load, t0 = 7 days → gc,to = 1.00 Eq. (A-22)
OUTPUT:
CREEP
Creep correction factor, gc = 1.00 Eq. (A-21)
Corrected ultimate creep coefficient, fu = 2.35 Eq. (A-20)
Creep coefficient, f(t,t0) at age t = 1825 days = 2.12 Eq. (A-18)
SHRINKAGE
Shrinkage correction factor, gsh = 1.00 Eq. (A-5)
Corrected ultimate shrinkage strain, eshu = 780 x 10-6 Eq. (A-4)
Shrinkage strain, esh(t,tc) at age t = 1825 days = 765 x 10-6 Eq. (A-1)
