I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

A. Explain the difference among diagnostic, formative and summative assessment;


B. Determine the ways to do traditional and authentic assessment ;
C. Distinguish between traditional and authentic assessment,norm-referenced and criterion-
referenced assessment, contextualized and decontextualized;
D. Apply current trends in assessment;
E. Value the importance of assessment as a part of teaching.

1. In your own opinion, what are the importance of having assessment in
teaching and learning process?

1. Activity

In a one whole sheet of paper, Using venn diagram, cite what are the similarities
and differences among diagnostic, formative and summative assessment.
2. Analysis

The teacher will ask the following questions (oral participation)

 What are the difference between authentic and traditional assessment?


 When can we say that assessment is of high quality?Give at least one quality
and explain.
 How does norm-referenced assessment differ from criterion-referenced
assessment?
 As a future educator ,Do you think assessment is an applicable way to
motivate students learning?
 What is meant by contextualized assessment? How does it differ to
decontextualized assessment?
3. Abstraction

 Give some example of traditional and authentic assessment?


 What is more effective in evaluating students learning, is it traditional or
authentic assessment?
 How does assessment help students to acquire learning?

4. Discussion

The teacher will be divided the class into 4 groups and will be given
some scenario regarding the topic being discussed. The students will
determine whether it is diagnostic, formative and summative
assessment.
