I will protect my land

2. I will tell the history of my people and the land
3. I understand the history of my people and the land
4. I will respect this land
5. I will play, learn and teach on this land

All of these statements help with acculturation in many ways. The most important way is by
understanding the land that you are stepping onto and observing how these people interacted with
each other and the land. By asking question you are able to understand this culture better which helps
with the process of acculturation, and by respecting the land and taking it as your own makes you feel a
sense of protection for the land as well.

All of these responsibilities tie directly into intercultural competency since they help you relate and
understand other cultures more. These responsibilities talk about understanding the history and telling
the history of the people. This is very important since people will have the opportunity to see cultures in
different ways and relate to these cultures. This will directly help with intercultural competency since it
will give society the knowledge, attitudes and skills we need to communicate effectively in intercultural
situations.

If I was indigenous I would relate really well to the website since the modules are based on the history
of the people and about how the treaty system works.
