SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 6

I. Objectives
a. Identify the kinds of sentences according to use.
b. Show tactfulness when communicating with others
c. Use a particular kind of sentence for a specific purpose and audience

II. Subject Matter


How to use a particular kind of sentence for a specific purpose and audience-
ASSERTING

III. Materials
Laptop, Television Screen and PowerPoint presentation.

IV. Procedure
A. Preparation
Greet the students and then ask them to seat properly
B. Review of previous lesson/ Drill
Identify what kind of sentence is use in the statement. If it is Interrogative,
Declarative, Imperative or Exclamatory.”
1. Where you have been?
- Interrogative
2. There are so many toys here!
- Exclamatory
3. Welcome your new friends in our house.
- Imperative
4. I am a solid Kathniel fan.
- Declarative
5. Are you a new student?
- Interrogative
C. Motivation
The students must obey all commands that begins with “Simon Says”.

Identify the type of questions if it is answerable be yes or no or a what, why,


who, when, where type of question
One of the standards in answering a question is to be able to answer in
complete sentence. You can do this by using the words in the question itself as a
cue to formulate your answer.

Giving directions or instructions following simple instructions.


Imperative sentences- Used to issue a command or instruction, make a
request or offer advice, basically they tell people what to do. Usually end with an
exclamation point.
Examples
 Do your homework.
 Stand in line.
 Do not sit down.

How to properly express our opinions.


There are different types of sentences that we use for different purposes.
These Different types of sentences in English allowed us to express ourselves
clearly
Phrases that we can use to give our opinions.
 I think
 I feel
 in my opinion.

If you disagree you can say


 I don’t quite agree
 I don’t think so.
Declarative sentence- Used to convey a message and
information.
Asserting or Assertive sentence- sentence gives information about facts,
opinions and beliefs.
Most commonly used in books, informative articles, reports or essays.
Two categories:
Negative group of words- a group of words which is the opposite of affirmative
group, gives a negative sense.
Example:
 They won’t listen to you.
 Barking dogs don’t bite.

Affirmative group of words- positive words.


Example:
 They will listen to you.
 Dogs are man’s best friend.

E. Activity
Pair-Up
 Find a partner to work with. Each pair will create a Yes-No question and its
response together.
 The answer must be in a complete sentence.
 Make sure it's clear and matches the question.
 Each pair will take turns presenting their Yes-No question and response to the
class. Anyone can volunteer to be the response or the question.
F. Generalization
After learning, the students can now identify kind of sentences they can now
communicate well because they have now the knowledge on using the
appropriate sentences for their needs, purposes and audience.
G. Evaluation
I. Identify whether the given question is a yes-no question (YN) or a WH
question (WH)
1. Is it raining outside?
2. What is your favorite color?
3. Did you finish your homework?
4. Where did you go last weekend?
5. Are you feeling tired today?
6. How many siblings do you have?
7. Have you ever been to France?
8. Why did you choose this book?
9. Do you like ice cream?
10. What time is your appointment?

Put an appropriate response to each question above. The response must be in
a complete sentence.

V. Assignment
Make 10 clear and correct sentences that properly express your opinion on
something. Put in a 1 whole sheet of paper and it will be submitted next meeting.
