RE: Financial conditions for admission to African Food Systems Leadership

Programme

Recently you received an admission letter to the Rwanda Food Fellowship, specifically
the third Rwanda cohort of the leadership programme. This acceptance was based on
the opinion of the Selection committee on your merits as food systems leader.

This letter is to clarify what necessary financial agreements must be agreed on to

make your position in the leadership programme, and the African Food Fellowship,
definite. The African Food Fellowship offers the Food Systems Leadership Programme
as a paid program. For 2023-24 this is 800 USD or RWF equivalent, to be paid in two
installments of 60% and 40%. Fees are necessary to continue to offer the level of
quality and support for many future cohorts. Having been accepted on the basis of
your merits, we must also come to payment agreements.

Financial arrangements
The African Food Fellowship has three payment levels with different numbers of
available positions. These fees cover the cost of the leadership programme, as well as
initial entry to the Rwanda Food Fellowship. For all levels a personal contribution is
required.

- 80% of fees covered for those who are essential food systems leaders but
cannot currently afford the full cost. Least available scholarship
- 50% of fees covered for those who have limited independent means. Limited
number of scholarships
- 0% of fees covered for those who have sufficient independent means or who
can rely on institutional financial support. Most available positions.

• In addition to replying to our conditional offer for a place in the leadership

programme, please also indicate whether you need to make use of one of the
scholarship levels or can cover the full fee.

• If you do need financial support, please share a brief explanation (half a page)
why this is necessary. Please fill in the form at the bottom of this letter.

• If you have already confirmed your interest to join the programme, please
send an additional response by 05 July 2023, 9 AM, regarding your ability to
pay or request for financial support.

• If you are unable to meet this deadline, please contact the undersigned.

The African Food Fellowship is initiated by:

Based on the total number of requests for financial support and available scholarships
we will get back to you within 1 week of the deadline. Should you be able to guarantee
payment then your position is secure. Should you wish financial support we will let you
know what is possible: our offer. We will ask you to confirm your response to our
payment offer by 17 July 2023, noon.

Note that payment of the initial installment (60%) must be received by 1 September
2023 for you to be able to start with the FSLP. Payment of the second installment
(40%) will be required after a progress assessment in the 10th week of the
programme. Paid installments will not be refunded.

You will receive further notice of invoicing, guidelines for payment and further steps
for enrolment upon confirmation of the offer. We will inform you per email on this.

Congratulations once again for being one of the 20 young Rwandan selected on basis
of merit for this third Rwandan edition of the Food Systems Leadership Programme.
We hope we can come to a final agreement so you and we can enjoy your participation
in the Food Systems Leadership Programme and the Fellowship.
