1.0 SCOPE
1.1 All structural and miscellaneous steel erection shall be in strict accordance with this Practice, the
applicable data sheet, and the referenced standards and publications.
1.2 Any deviation to this Practice shall be in accordance with the procedure given in EP 1-1-3.
1.3 A revision bar indicates all changes made to this revision.

3.0 DEFINITIONS
3.1 Company – Motiva Enterprises LLC.
3.2 Contractor – Company or business that agrees to furnish materials or perform specified services
at a specified price and/or rate to the Owner.
3.3 Manufacturer – The recipient of a direct or indirect purchase order for materials and/or equipment.
In this context, a direct order is one issued to a manufacturer by a contractor or the Owner. An
indirect order is one issued to a manufacturer by a vendor (recipient of a direct order) for materials,
fabricated components, or subassemblies.
3.4 Owner – Motiva Enterprises LLC.
3.5 Owner’s Engineer – A Motiva Enterprises LLC appointed engineer.
3.6 Purchaser – The party placing a direct purchase order. The purchaser is the Owner’s designated
representative.
3.7 Vendor – Recipient of a direct purchase order.
4.0 OVERLAY INSTRUCTIONS

4.1 General
Paragraph numbers and modifications provided in Table 1 refer to PIP STS05130, August 2018
revision. Paragraph numbers may not be consecutive, and all PIP paragraphs not mentioned
herein shall be verbatim requirements of this Practice.
Any referral to approval by Owner or Company shall mean approval of Owner’s Engineer.

4.2 Modification Terms

4.2.1 (Add) – If information is “added” to an existing paragraph in the PIP standard, the requirements
of this Practice shall be read as a continuation of that particular PIP paragraph.
4.2.2 (Substitute) – If information is “substituted”, the affected PIP requirement shall be replaced in its
entirety by the requirements of this Practice.
4.2.3 (Revise) – If information is “revised”, the requirements of this Practice shall be read as a revision
to part of the particular PIP paragraph (i.e. changed sentence).
4.2.4 (New) – If information is “New”, it shall be read as an added requirement to the PIP standard (i.e.
new paragraph).
4.2.5 (Delete) – If information is “Delete”, to an existing paragraph in the PIP standard, the requirements
of that particular PIP paragraph shall be ignored.
4.3 Purchaser Requirements
A bullet (●) indicates that a decision by the Owner’s Engineer is required.

Unless specified otherwise in contract documents, structural
base plates shall be grouted in accordance with EP 4-2-9,
Nonshrink Cementitious Grout. Grout shall not extend above the
