Acceptance conditions and testing
All semi --- finished stocks shall be inspected according to paras. 3.3 and 3.4, then checked as
per para. 3.5.
3.3
Visual inspection
All semi --- finished stocks shall have smooth surfaces. For hot --- rolled products such flaws as seams,
scores, laps and cracks are permissible provided they can be removed by suitable means, still meet-
ing all requirements for rolling tolerances and machining allowances. Drawn or peeled semi --- fin-
ished stocks shall show a very little number of surface defects. Furthermore, squeezed or ragged
ends shall be tolerated after semi --- finished stock shearing; in the case of drawn products, however,
such defects shall not extend over a length exceeding bar stock thickness.

Internal condition
Sulphide inclusions and segregation lines shall not be considered as material defects provided
they are uniformly distributed.
