Jose Mari Chan". All groups have 5 minutes to guess the lyrics and
prepare their performance to sing it in front of the class. Each word that
is correct is equivalent to 1 point. The group who will get the highest
points will be awarded a Spanish bread freshly baked from Lily's.

concepts and As observed in our attention activity, our lesson for today will focus on
practicing new skills Conjunctions in Spoken Word.

(DEEPENING) What are the two types of clauses? The dependent and the
Independent
Two types of clauses

 Dependent clause this is a group of words that contains a subject and


verb but does not express a complete thought, dependent clause cannot
be a sentence.

 An Independent clause is the combination of at least one subject and


predicate. It expresses a complete thought.

“Now, let us learn the different types of conjunction and its uses”

 There are different kinds of conjunctions serving its own distinct


purpose, but all working to bring words together

 The first type is coordinating conjunction,

 This one is the simplest connector among the three because we can use
it in any independent sentences or clauses

“If the sentences or clauses have the complete thought, you just
have to put a comma however if one of them are independent we
need to use conjunction rather than a coma or semicolon.”

 In other words, the clauses can be in an order in a sentence as long as


the Subordinating conjunction comes before the dependent clause. You
got it?

 Examples of subordinating conjunctions used in a sentence.

“In much simpler words, this conjunction is a package. You cannot use one
without the other”

 The differences are: Coordinating conjunction is used to link independent
clauses while subordinating conjunction is used to link dependent and
independent clauses. and correlative conjunction are used in pairs.

 All that we had discussed is called Cohesion, it is one of the properties of


a well-written texts, where words and sentences stick together. This word
originated from the term ‘cohere’ which means ‘to stick together’. It is
important to achieve cohesion since it will direct listeners’ or readers’
thoughts and interests to the development of the presented argument.’
To link together the part of text (words, sentences, and paragraphs),
conjunctions as cohesive device can be used.

three types of conjunctions to achieve cohesion in your letter. Use your

experience limits our movements and we are not able to visit each

 The class will be divided into three groups.


 Leaders in each group will have a random picking of papers. The three
types of conjunction;(1) Coordinating (2) Subordinating (3) Correlative
conjunctions was written on a paper. Each group will construct a 5
sentences using the type of conjunction they had picked.

DIRECTION: The leader of the group will pick a piece of paper. Each group
will construct a five sentences using the types of conjunction that they had
picked.

J. Assignment Directions: Read the except of a news story regarding the opening of classes
on 2020. Give your reaction on the statement of DepEd Secretary Briones.
Use conjunctions in presenting your idea and reaction.

As it continues to receive mixed reactions on the start of a new school year in


August, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday maintained that
the school opening needs to push through to ensure that the education of
Filipino learners will not be further disrupted. In an online press briefing led by
Education Secretary Leonor Briones along with Undersecretaries Annalyn
Sevilla and Atty. Nepomuceno Malaluan, the DepEd key officials discussed
concerns on school opening and the alternative learning modalities. Briones
said that the DepEd is aware of the calls to suspend the opening of classes
this coming August 24 due to the continued threat of COVID-19. “But what
other options do we have? We have to go on because education must
continue,” she added. Briones said that the health and safety of learners and
teachers remain the “utmost consideration” of DepEd.
