Science
Quarter 3 - Module 1
Human Reproductive System

1
What is It
Reproduction is the formation of a new individual. It is important in continuing species. Each
organism has its own way to reproduce: it can be sexually or asexually. For humans, they
reproduce sexually. They have an organ system responsible for reproduction. These organ
systems ensure the continuation of species.
Let us learn new things about hormones and reproductive systems.

One day in Catmon National High School, students came early to read some
announcements in the bulletin board.

ANNOUNCEMENT

What: Gender Sensitivity Program

Who: Ms. Leah Dela Cruz
(Rural Health Nurse)
When: July 6, 2020
Where: Science Laboratory

We can
learn a lot from the
seminar .

Better
pay attention to
her discussion dude!
I think so.

2
Today
we’re blessed.
We have Ms. Leah.
Our rural health nurse
to share her expertise
about gender sensitivity
awareness.

Welcome to the gender sensitivity
program of our health center.
Today I will tackle about male &
female reproductive system and
the role of hormones as well. So
sit back and relax.

These are the parts of the

female reproductive system.
Again, you must remember
each part by heart.

site of fertilization. Theuterus
is the site of implantation, while
the vagina serves for entry of
sperm and birth canal. Lastly,
endometrium is the lining of the
uterus.

Trivia:
Ovaries contain 1 - 2
million eggs at birth but only

Vas Deferens You need to bear in mind the 3 vital

functions of the male reproductive
system:

1. Produce
2. Transport
3. Maintain sperm

The testis as reproductive organ produces sperm.
The scrotum is a sac that covers and protect the
testis.
The seminal vesicle stores and secrete fluid into
the sperm ducts, while the prostate gland,
secretes fluid into the semen that activates sperm
production.
The vas deferens also known as the sperm ducts
carries sperm from the testis to the urethra.

by hormones.

REMEMBER!!!

The release of the female and

male reproductive hormones in
greater amounts during puberty
leads to the development of
SECONDARY secondary sex characteristics.
SEX CHARACTERISTICS

Female
- Development of breast
- Change in body form
- Growth of body hair
- Widening of the hips
- Higher pitched voice
Male
- Growth of beard and body hair
- Change in body form
- Lowered voice pitch
- Growth of facial hair
- Formation of sperm
- Increase muscular development

Ms. Leah told us Here’s a simple definition of

about hormones. hormones.

you have discussed Ms. Leah. Thank you for Nicolas and thank you class for having

What’s More
Now, let us see if you understand the lesson discussed in the previous pages; if there are
things that are not yet clear to you, you can go back with the previous discussion and activities.
If everything for you is clear, then you are ready on your next task.

Try some more to have deeper understanding of the topic.

Directions: Identify the parts of the reproductive systems based on their description and
functions.

9
Functions Parts

1. It is a male organ that produces sperm.

2. It is a pair of organs in female that produces the
ovum.

3. It is a tube in which the egg stays momentarily to meet

the sperm.
4. It produces milky alkaline fluid that fights the acidity of
the vagina.
5. It receives the penis during sexual intercourse and
expands during childbirth.

6.These are tubules in the testes that carries sperm

from testes to uretrhra.

7.The neck of the uterus which expands to allow a

baby to pass.

8. It is a pouch of skin that holds the testes.

9. It is the site of egg implantation where the fertilized
egg develops.
10.It produces fluid for lubrication and neutralizes any
trace of acidic urine in the urethra.
Independent Assessment 3

Have you noticed that there are physical changes in your body as you reach the age of
10? That marks the start of adolescence called puberty. Adolescence means growing up; it is a
passage from childhood to adulthood.
Are you aware of those changes in your body? Now, answer the checklist below.

Directions: Check ( /) the appropriate column if the secondary sex characteristics are
observable in male, in female or both.
Sexual Characteristics Male Female Both

1. development of broad shoulders

2. growth of pubic and body hairs

3. deepening of voice
4. development of mammary glands and
breasts
5. enlargement of the voice box
6. widening of the hips
7. increase muscular development
8. higher pitched voice
9. change in body shape

Amazing! I commend your hard work in finishing the given activities.

11
Additional Activity( PERFORMANCE TASK)

Now it’s time to show your creativity by doing this task.

You are part of the Rural Health Unit of your barangay. The Department of Health is
conducting an information drive in every barangay about reproductive health. Your goal is to
give an information drive to the public about men/women’s reproductive health. To make the
information easier to remember, make a two to four pages brochure/ leaflet that will show how
to take care of human reproductive systems.

Your output will be graded according to the rubric provided below.

Accuracy of Content and Validity of Information 10

Organization of Information Presented 5
Spelling and Mechanics 5
Attractiveness 5
Highest Possible Score 25
