Gas fuels
Natural gas
- is the composition of Hydrocarbon that consist of CH4 , CO2 , H2S, N2 etc.
- is formed by Paraffin (kerosene) that can contain in liquid (Pressure > 200 barg).
- can be applied in the engine by CNG or LNG.
Manufactured gas
reduction
- is made from Gasification process. C +oxidation
O → CO
2 2 C + CO → 2CO 2
Solid fuels
There has limitation to apply the solid fuels into the engine because
- The feeder and controller of combustion have been limited, which induce long
response time of combustion.
- The combustion of solid fuel generates a ash product.
Hydrogen gas

Liquid fuels
In present day, the liquid fuels are popular and widely used in the internal combustion
engine because
- There are easy to feed and to control of the combustion process in the
combustion chamber.
- There are easy to storage and to transport in the commercial scale.
Alcohol
- The Oxygen has been added into the compound.
- The structure of compound is straight chain, and the end of sentence is “yne”.
- High octane and low smoke.

Conversion
Cracking
- Thermal cracking (diesel to gasoline)
- Catalyst cracking (diesel or heavy oil to Olefin compound).
- Hydrogen additive (high pressure and temperature) >>> (diesel to gasoline)
Reforming
- This process was used to increase octane number of gasoline.
Isomerlization
- The straight chain was changed to branch chain by this process
- This process was used to increase octane number of gasoline.
Alkylation
- The paraffin and iso-paraffin were combined by this process
- This process was used to increase octane number of gasoline.
Polymerization
- This process was used to increase octane number of gasoline.

Treating (example)
BEFORE AFTER
- Contaminate - Hydrogen additive
sulfur, sodium
H2 + S → H2S
- After that remove H2S
