Hazrat Abu Bakr


● Real name -> Abdul Kaaba
● Prophet changed his name to Abu Bakr
● Tribe -> Banu Taym
● Father -> Uthman aka Abu Quhafa
● 2 years younger than the Prophet (SAW)
● Never did idol worshiping even before Islam
● Literate person -> very few in makkah
● Wisdom -> people often made him judge in their disputes
● Rich merchant -> influential
● First free adult man to accept Islam
● Accepted without hesitation
● Prophet said, “Whenever I invited someone towards Islam he showed reluctance
but Abu Bakr believed in me without argument”
● He influenced many of his friends to accept islam, such as Uthman bin Affan,
Abdur Rahman bin Awf, Abu Ubaydah bin Al-Jarrah
● He bought many slaves and set them free
● When he accepted Islam he had over 40,000 dirhams but when migrating
Madina only 5,000 left due to his charity
● He defended the Prophet (SAW) when Makkans attacked him and as a result he
was severely injured
● His face swollen and he fainted; even his hair was pulled
● He was the first person who confirmed Miraj which earned him the title of
“Al-Siddique”, meaning ‘Testifier of the Truth
● Accompanied Prophet (SAW) for migration to Madina
● Arranged for their camels + his daughter prepared food for them
● Entered cave of Thawr first and cleaned it and filled all holes in it for the
Prophet’s safety form poisonous insects
● He placed his foot on one of the holes
● A snake stung on his foot but he did not move his leg as the Prophet (SAW) was
sleeping and his head was in his lap
● His tears fell on the Prophet (SAW) applied his saliva on his foot and the pain
vanished
● The Quran says, “... when they were in the cave, and he said to his companion: ‘Be
not sad, surely Allah is with us’…”
● Abu Bakr bought the plot for the Masjid e Nabvi and paid the money to Sahal and
Sohail’s guardian
● He became the Prophet's father in law in 2 AH when the Prophet married Hz.
Ayesha
● He was present in battlers and other events
● The Prophet (SAW) asked for his suggestion in important matters. He followed
Abu Bakr’s suggestion about the captives of Badr
● He was the only companion who supported the Prophet’s point of view in Treaty
of Hudaibiya, which showed political farsightedness
● He donated all of his wealth at the time of Tabuk Expedition and said Allah and
his messenger are enough for my family
● He was made Ameer ul Hajj by Prophet in 9 AH
● Led in prayers during illness of the Prophet (SAW)
● Led 17 prayers during Prophet’s life
● When Holy Prophet passed away Abu Bakr delivered the speech and consoled the
Companions
● He suggested to bury Prophet in the same place where he had passed away i.e.
chamber of Hz Ayesha
