Ideal transformer
2- A single phase 10:1 ideal transformer has a primary voltage of 39.8KV and a
primary power of 1000 KVA at 0.8 PF lagging Find the load impedance
connected to the secondary winding.
Use the approximate equivalent circuit to calculate the voltage and current at
the primary terminals for a load of 10KVA at 120V and PF 0.85 lagging. Also
calculate the power loss in the secondary winding, primary winding and in the
core as well as the efficiency of the transformer.
7- The load at the end of a feeder is 100A at 0.85 PF and 132V. the feeder’s
impedance is:
Z3= 0.003+0.01 Ω
Power is supplied to the feeder by a 10:1 transformer whose impedance referred
to the primary is
Z2= 4+j8 Ω
Find the voltage, current and power factor at the sending end of the supply.
Performance:
Tests:
10- A 100 kVA, 60 Hz, 12000/240 V, single phase transformer is tested to obtain
the equivalent circuit parameters using a short circuit test. The voltage applied
to the 12000 V side is 600 V with a short circuit current equal to the rated
current value and short circuit power of 1200 W.
a. Find the parameter R and X of the transformer.
b. Assume that the transformer supplies a load of 100kVA at 240V and
0.8 PF lagging on the secondary side. Find the voltage required at the
primary side and the power factor.
