PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the data gathered in relation to the specific problems. Numerical

data are presented in tabular forms followed by textual presentations, analysis, and

interpretation.

Age. As indicated in Table 2, of the 104 respondents of this study, there were 80

(76.92%) whose ages were 12 years old and 17 (16.35%) were in the age of 11 years old.

Likewise, there were 7 (6.73%) whose age were 13 years old.

These findings mean that the respondents were in the prescribed age for grade 6

level. According to Kristine Mae Valentin(what is the year of citation and pls use the

lastname of the person only), the results showed that age has a substantial impact on how

well students execute oral reading, with younger students performing better in reading

fluency, reading comprehension, and overall reading performance. None of the other

factors were shown to have a significant impact on how well they read. However, both

the overall reading performance and reading fluency and comprehension were only

marginally impacted by age. However, it might still be argued that teachers should be

aware of the possibility that older or over-aged students in the class may need more

assistance with their reading than the younger students and take the necessary steps to

properly satisfy these needs, no matter how little they may be.

Gender. In terms of gender, there were fifty three (50.96%) female respondents

and fifty one (49.04%) males.

These findings explain that females outnumbered their male counterpart in the

school’s enrollment. Males make up 3,970,238,390, or 3,970 million, or 3.97 billion, of

the world's population as of 2021, or 50.42 percent of the total. According to estimates,

there are 3,904,727,342 females in the globe, which equates to 3,905 million or 3.905

billion people and accounts for 49.58 percent of the total population. There are

65,511,048 or 65.51 million more men than women in the globe. (UN World Population

Number of siblings. As shown in Table 4, the number of siblings 1 to 2 or sixty

(57.69%) got the highest average number of siblings, while nine and more got one

(0.96%) the lowest average.

According to John (2022), one benefit of having two kids is that you can buy

things in twos and then pass the extras down, sell them, or donate them to charity. This is

particularly true if your children are of an age where they wear clothes of a comparable

size and favor the same fashions. (hindi nagsusupport ito sa findings nio)

As shown in Table 4, the average grade bracket of the student-respondents is 74

and below (did not meet expectation), 75-79 (fairly satisfactory), 80-84 (satisfactory), 85-

89 (very satisfactory), and 90 and above (outstanding). Based on the table presented, out

of 104 student-respondents, 40 of them have an average of 85 to 89 (very satisfactory)

which obtained the highest frequency. This is followed by 90 and above (outstanding)

which obtained by 38 students, while 26 students acquired 80 to 84 (satisfactory).

These findings show that 40 out of 104 garnered 85 to 89 and described as “very

satisfactory” and second to the highest is 38 garnered 90 and above and described as

“outstanding”. This findings reveals that GWA is related to the reading scores of the

students. Ponkshe (2013 p. 1) explains that the students with better ability of English

reading comprehension are expected to perform well in academics. (wala pang kinalaman

Based on the table presented, out of 104 student-respondents, 61 (58.7%) of them

have frustration(58% and below) of reading comprehension level which obtained the

highest frequency. This is followed by Instructional (59-79%) which obtained by 30

Chapter 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter is represented in four sections. The first section contributes to an

overall summary of the study followed by a summary of the findings and their

conclusions. Subsequent to this are the recommendations for future research.

Summary

Reading is a fundamental skill that many people acquire early in life. However,

despite being able to read, some people struggle to comprehend what they read. This

phenomenon is known as poor reading comprehension, and it can have a variety of

underlying causes. This made the researcher decide to conduct a study to determine if

there is a probable relationship between reading comprehension level and academic

performance of Grade 6 Students of San Antonio Central School enrolled during the

school year 2022-2023. These respondents were chosen using the random sampling

procedure. The researcher administered a single set of questionnaires to one hundred four

Grade 6 students of San Antonio Central School, this was done after the letter was signed

by the Principal.

After the retrieval of the questionnaires, data were gathered and summarized in

tally sheets. This study was conducted during the academic year 2022-2023.

As to age, there were 80 (76.92%) whose ages 12 years old and 17 (16.35%) were

at the age of 11 years of age. Likewise, there were 7(6.73%) 13 years old which was the

eldest.

In terms of gender, there were fifty-three (50.96%) female and fifty-one (49.04%)

were male.

As to number of siblings, majority of the students revealed that they have 1-2

siblings (59.69%) 3-4 siblings (29.81%) 5-6 siblings (9.62%) 7-8 (1.92%), only 1 student

revealed that he/she 9 and more siblings 0.96%.

2. Second Quarter Average Grade of Grade 6 Students


Out of 104 garnered 85 to 89 and described as “very satisfactory” and second to

the highest is 38 garnered 90 and above and described as “outstanding”. This findings

reveals that GWA is related to the reading scores of the students. Ponkshe (2013 p. 1)

explains that the students with better ability of English reading comprehension are

expected to perform well in academics.

3. Reading Comprehension of student-respondents be described in terms of:

Out of 104 student-respondents, 61 (58.7%) of them have frustration(58% and

below) of reading comprehension level which obtained the highest frequency. This is

followed by Instructional (59-79%) which obtained by 30 (28.8%) students, while 13

(12.5%) students acquired Independent (80-100%).

4. Relationship between Reading Comprehension Level and Academic Performance

There is a significant relationship between GWA and reading scores of pupils.

Conclusions

The following conclusions were arrived at:

1. Majority of the student-respondents fell at the age of 12 years old and there are

more females than males. The majority of the students have 1 to 2 siblings.

2. The highest average grade that most of the student-respondents obtained is 85

to 89 and described as "Very Satisfactory".

3. The highest frequency that most of the student-respondents obtained is

described as "Frustration".

4. There is a significant relationship between GWA and reading scores of pupils.

Recommendations

In the findings and conclusions derived from this study, the following

recommendations

are offered:

1. Teachers should not only focus on the content of the lesson but also:

1.1 Create exercises that will aid in students' self-understanding and in teachers'

getting to know their pupils.

1.2 Create instructional tactics to engage pupils in learning.

2. Regardless of the students' grade level, guidance counselors are required to provide

routine counseling to the pupils in order to identify problems early.

3. To prevent the gap between them, parents must talk to their kids more frequently. They

might use this to keep an eye on their kids' whereabouts and regular hangouts.
