Title of the lesson : Meals and dishes (rice, beans,


omelet, yam, meat, fish, bread)

Aim : To familiarize the pupils with a vocabulary related to some


meals and dishes for their daily communication.

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to :

 Pronounce correctly the new words


 Identify the edible products
 Fill the gaps with the right words
 Build their own meaningful sentences using the new words
taught in class.

Pre-requisites : pupils have already been taught the simple


present tense of ordinary verbs and countable and uncountable
nouns.

Anticipated problem : pupils may have difficulties with the


pronunciation of some words like ‘’rice’’ and ‘’bread’’.
Anticipated solution : the teacher will focus an the
pronunciation of those words.

Teaching materials : realia, duster, chalk, board, bucket of


water.

STAGE I : Presentation (12mins)

Step 1 : Warm up (3mins)

- Announcement of the day’s lesson

Step 2 : Procedure (9mins)

The teacher shows each meal to the pupils and pronounces its
name three times, then, makes pupils repeat chorally, per row
and individually. After that, he writes each new word on the
board with an illustrative sentence and reads the sentence.

1- Rice
Eg : In restaurant we can order rice with sauce or fried rice.

2- Beans
Eg : Moussa enjoys dish of beans.

3- Omelet
Eg : Awa makes omelet with eggs.

4- Yam
Eg : Nobila likes eating a dish of yam.

5- Meat
Eg : My mother cooks soup of meat every Saturday.

6- Fish
Eg : People usually eat ‘’Attiéké’’ with fried fish.

7- Bread
Eg : Children drink coffee with bread every morning.

STAGE II : Practice (15mins)
