FOREWORD
This Self Learning Kit (SLK) is made for the learners in the Sixth
Grade. Through this kit, they will learn individually. The activities
used in this kit will not just help the learners learn more easily the
competency but will also strengthen their mental ability to think
critically and at the same time develop good study habits
especially when they are at home. The competency which is to
infer how friction affects movements of different objects is very
important for our learners because friction always affects and is
employed in almost all aspects of living.

OBJECTIVES:
K: Define Friction.
S: Explain how friction affects the motion of objects.
A: Show willingness to use the importance of friction in their
daily lives.
LEARNING COMPTENCY
Infer how friction and gravity affect movements of different
objects. (S6FE-IIIa-c-1)

SCIEXPLORE TIME!
What is Friction?
Friction is a force that opposes motion and acts in a
direction opposite to the motion of the moving object.

Study carefully the tables below. Let’s find out how friction
affect the distance travelled by moving objects on smooth and
rough surfaces.

SYNOPSIS
This Self Learning Kit is design to
address and cater the learning
needs of elementary Grade Six
pupils specifically in learning science
skills like observing, analyzing, and
making conclusion. This kit is focused
on how friction affects the
movements of objects and how it
affects the routine of our daily living.
Furthermore, it is expected that
through this kit, the pupils will learn
independently and be able to
master the basic concepts on
friction.
So come on, join us in our
learning journey and help us find out
how friction affects the movements
of different objects.
