When an object rolls over a solid surface, rolling friction is produced. Rolling Friction is the friction that acts
on objects when they are rolling over a surface. Rolling of ball or wheel on the ground are some examples of rolling
friction. Another common example of rolling friction is the movement of wheel on a motorcycle. The weight of the
driver and the motorcycle presses the tires of the wheel against the ground. This downward force creates increased
friction between the tires and the road giving tire friction. If it were not for the friction, the tires could not push on the
road surface to drive the motor forward.
When you push an object like a book on the floor or table, sliding friction occurs. Sliding friction occurs
between two surfaces that come in contact with each other. Sliding friction acts in a direction opposite the direction of
motion. In the case of a book, the book moves forward while sliding friction is in the opposite direction. Sliding friction
slows down the movement of the book or object that is moving. This sliding friction prevents the object to move
forward as fast as it would. When sliding friction is acting on an object, other forces must be present to keep the
object moving. It could be a push or force of gravity when the object moves in slope. Sliding Friction occurs when two
objects rub against each other or slide against each other. It is caused by molecular adhesion between surfaces.
ACTIVITY 1
Directions: Put a (√) if the object produces rolling friction if rolled along a surface and (X) if not.

Quarter _3__, Week _1_ Lesson 1
Visualizes and describes the different solid figures: cube, prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, and
sphere using various concrete and pictorial models. (M6GE-IIa-27)
LEARN
Solid figures are figures that have three
dimensions such as length, width, and height. All the
things that we see inside and outside our houses
come in different shapes. Canned goods like sardines
are cylindrical in shape, the box of milk, box of
toothpaste and bar of soap come in the shape of a
rectangular prism. The ice on the freezer are cube in
shape. The balls we use for playing and the coconut
fruits on the tree are spherical in shapes. The tent we
use for camping may come in the shape of a
triangular prism or a pyramid. These figures are
called solid figures.
Solid figures like prisms and pyramids are called polyhedrons because the faces are
polygons. These kinds of solid figures have faces, edges and vertices.
ACTIVITY 1
Directions: Identify the name of the following solid figures. Choose your answer from the words inside the
box below.
ACTIVITY 2
Directions: Write the number of faces, edges and vertices of each example of solid figures to complete the

Differentiates solid figures from plane figures. (M6GE-IIIa-28)
LEARN
Plane figure is a geometric figure that is flat whose points lie on the same surface. It has no
thickness, only length and width that it is why it is called two-dimensional shape. It can be composed of a
straight line, curved line, or both straight and curved lines.
Plane figures are categorized into two: Open figure and Closed Figure.
Closed figures are further categorized into polygonal
plane figures and non-polygonal plane figures.
Closed figures or polygons are bounded by line
segments. These line segments are its sides and the
endpoints of the sides of a polygon are its vertices.
Polygonal plane figures are closed figures
formed by line segments. A polygon has at least three
sides. Examples of polygons are triangle,
quadrilateral, pentagon and all the n-sided polygon.
Non-polygonal plane figures are plane
figures that have curved sides/edges.
Solid figure is a closed figure that has three dimensions, the length, width and height.
Let us compare plane figures and solid figures through the given table.
ACTIVITY 1
Directions: Write letter P if it is a plane figure and an S if it is a solid figure.

Identifies the faces of a solid figure (M6GE-IIIb-30)
LEARN
When a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat and the faces are all shown, we can see a pattern
and that is the net of the solid figure.
The net can be folded to form the solid shape. Remember that solid figures have polygons as faces,
and when these faces come together, they form a line segment called the edges, then the point where the
edges meet is the vertex.

Identify the sellers and buyers;
Produce simple products (TLEIE6-0a-2)
LEARN
An Entrepreneur is someone who is willing to put up the capital needed to set up a business fully aware
of the risks involved. It is he or she who plans, organizes, and manages the business, hires the people to
help run it, and ensures that the product or service being offered is sold at a reasonable profit in order to
earn.
A product is something that is manufactured following a process, in order to be sold for a profit.
A service is a facility supplying a public or market needed or demand. Some examples are hair salons
offering hair care and hair styling services; bus companies, offering transport services; and spas and
wellness centers offering massage services, skin care treatments, and the like.
There are two people or parties involved in business transaction such as selling and buying, the seller and
the buyer.
In deciding what type of business to get into, it might be good to start with a hobby or interest. It is
easier to work on something that you are already passionate about. You can produce something that you
can offer or sell to your friends and schoolmates. School fairs are a good opportunity to sell. Among the
products that are always in demand are food items. Start small before you think of producing bigger
quantities. One has to practice his skills in food preparation, cooking and food packaging. In addition,
one also has to observe safety practices in handling, preparing, and serving food items.
Whatever you decide on, you have to remember to keep your costs down while maintaining the
quality of your product. Make sure to canvass and find out where you can source your materials and
supplies in items, purchase your ingredients in a store or market that sells fresh produce.
Lastly, remember that the way a product is presented to the customer affects its salability. Food
items, in particular, must not only be attractively packaged but more importantly, they should be
protected from contaminants and spoilage. Like other expense items, packaging must be of good quality
but also cost effective.

Dengue

Explains how poor environmental sanitation can negatively impact
the health of an individual. (H6EH-IIIb-2)
LEARN
Maintaining a clean and healthy environment is a big challenge to the community. Waste that is
not properly managed from households and community is a serious health hazard and can lead to the
spread of infectious diseases. Improper disposal of wastes, oil spill, smoke-belching vehicles and
uncollected garbage are some of the causes of environmental pollution. If the health officials and the
people in the community will not help in environmental sanitation, several problems may happen. Pests
like rats, mosquitoes, cockroaches and flies can be seen feasting on wastes which are carriers of diseases.
A dirty or polluted surrounding can cause water and air-borne diseases. Virus, bacteria, germs and other
microorganisms multiply in a polluted environment. These disease carriers can bring serious health
problems to people’s lives.
Environmental sanitation -means the art and science of applying sanitary, biological and physical
science principles and knowledge to improve and control the environment and factors therein for the
protection of the health and welfare of the public. Many people have limited knowledge and understanding
of the good hygiene practices that reduce the health risks from poor sanitation and waste management.
Diseases associated with poor sanitation affect children's physical development and school attendance.
Environmental impacts of poor sanitation and waste management at a local level include pollution of
land and watercourses, the visual impact of litter, and bad odors.
POOR SANITATION
Because of the illiteracy and poverty of the people in rural area, they do not know the importance
of sanitation and hygiene. Such as ignorance causes environmental pollution leading to the break out of a
number of epidemics like cholera, typhoid etc.
Is one of the most accurate indicators of urban poverty and health problems. According to World
Health Organization (WHO), over 600 million urbanities in low quality shelters or other plagued. By
overcrowding and inadequate provision of sanitation services, including potable water and safe waste
disposal. Refers to public health conditions related to clean drinking water and adequate treatment and
disposal of human excreta and sewage. Preventing human contact with feces is a part of sanitation, as is
hand washing with soap.
For example, diarrhea, a main cause of malnutrition and stunted growth in children, can be
reduced through sanitation. There are many diseases which are easily transmitted in communities that
have low levels of sanitation, such as ascariasis (a type of intestinal worm infection or helminthiasis),
cholera, hepatitis, polio, schistosomiasis, trachoma, etc.
Aims to protect human health by providing a clean environment that will stop the transmission of disease,
especially through the fecal-oral route.
1. URBANIZATION
Some of us are living in the urban areas. This has caused the burgeoning of new kinds of slums,
the growth of squatter and informal housing all around the rapidly expanding cities of the
developing world as people continue to migrate from rural areas to urban areas.
2. POVERTY
Is the state of being extremely poor?
3. INADEQUATE WATER PROVISION
Lack of sufficient water supply has led to unofficial ways of accessing water services. This has in
turn lead to access of unhygienic water for people which exposes them to water borne diseases

Mga Suliraning Pangkabuhayan na Kinaharap ng Pilipinas Pagkatapos
ng Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig
ALAMIN
sumusunod, Philippine Rehabilitation Act, Bell Trade Act, Parity Rights at Kasunduang Base Militar o
Military Bases Agreement.

Viewpoint is the way a person sees things, understands issues or comprehends ideas from his/her
own point of view or perspective. Differing viewpoints also means opposing viewpoints.
Issues can be viewed from different perspectives. The positions of people regarding an issue may be
affected by the evidence found, researched facts, their philosophy, or even their life experiences.
A report is a short, sharp, concise document which is written for a particular purpose and
audience. It generally sets out and analyzes a situation or problem. It is a factual paper that needs to be
clear and well-structured. Presenting a report on differing issues might be a bit challenging, but if you are
familiar with the proper flow of a report, it is going to be a lot easier!
Coherence is achieved when the sentences and ideas are connected, and they flow together
smoothly. A coherent report helps readers to understand clearly the ideas presented in the report.
