SCIENCE 6

I.OBJECTIVES:

Define gravity and friction.

Describe how gravity and friction work.

II.SUBJECT MATTER:

TOPIC: GRAVITY AND FRICTION

REFERENCE: Learner’s Materials pp.134-136

III.PROCEDURE:

A. Introductory Activity

1. Review

B. Developmental Activities

1.Awareness

a. Motivation:

FOUR PIC ONE WORD

Study the relationships of the four picture below. Identify the word that could describe the
four pictures. Write your answer in the boxes below.
b. Discussion

What is friction? Define gravity?

Explain how gravity and friction keep things in order.

2. Activity

Group Activity: Show a video of different toy car ramp.

Create a two group of students, each group will choose a representative to explain
their observation.

GROUP 1 – smooth surface

GROUP 2 – rough surface

Let’s do this way:

1.Set the ramp with one side higher.

2. Cover one side with wax paper/any smooth surface paper.

3. Cover one other side with sand paper /any rough surface paper.

4. have the students roll the toy car down the ramp.

3. Analysis

Discussion of student’s outputs

1. In which surface does the toy car move faster? Why?

2. Which surface register a greater friction? Why?
3. How does friction affect the motion of objects?

4.Abstraction

How does friction affect our daily activities?

IV. APPLICATION

TRUE OR FALSE write in the blank the correct answer.

______1. Friction is a force.

______2. Friction is produced by rubbing or touching two surfaces.

______3. Friction is energy stored.

______4. Friction is grater on rough surfaces.

______5. Friction is produced when object in contact with each other.

______6. Lighten candle produce friction.

______7. Friction is produced by moving objects.
