A. So sánh bằng (equal comparison)

B. Vị trí của tính từ. (Order of adjectives)

* Cách nhớ: OSShACOMP
* Chú ý:
+ Thông thường có tối đa BA tính từ đứng trước một DANH TỪ
Ví dụ:
- It is a beautiful long new dress. (Đó là một chiếc váy mới dài đẹp.)
+ Ta có thể dùng “and” để nối giữa 2 hay nhiều tính từ cùng loại.
Ví dụ:
- It is a black and white television. (Đó là một chiếc ti vi đen trắng.)
- It is a cheap but interesting book. (Đó là một cuốn sách rẻ tiền nhưng rất thú vị.)
+ Khi nói về kích thước thì ta sẽ sử dụng tính từ chỉ chiều dài đứng trước tính từ chỉ chiều
rộng.
Ví dụ:
- It is a long large road. (Đó là một con đường dài rộng.)
Ta thấy “long” là tính từ chỉ chiều dài và “large” là tính từ chỉ chiều rộng.

PRONUNCIATION
I. TRỌNG ÂM VỚI TỪ CÓ 2 ÂM TIẾT
1. Động từ và tính từ (có thể là trạng từ hoặc giới từ)
- Thường nhấn âm 2 (trừ âm /ə / và ow )
Ex: apply, arrive, attract, provide, advise, repeat, destroy, inside, borrow, narrow, harrow, politite, -
Nhưng nếu âm 2 là âm ngắn, hoặc kết thúc chỉ bằng một phụ âm thì sẽ nhấn âm 1
Ex: enter, open, equal, happy, clever, common, rather, sorry, envy..
- Động từ ghép thường nhấn âm ở từ 2
Ex: overcome, overflow, understand,…
- Tính từ ghép thường nhấn âm ở từ 1, nhưng nếu từ 1 là một trạng từ hoặc tính từ thì sẽ nhấn âm 2(
thường là từ có đuôi –ed)
Ex: close-knit, man-made, bad-tempered, old-fashioned, well-done, well-dressed, old-aged
2. Danh từ
- Thường nhấn âm 1 (trừ âm /ə / và ow)
Ex: money, student, china, table, product,
- Nhưng nếu âm 2 là âm dài, âm đôi, hoặc kết thúc bằng 2 phụ âm trở lên thì nhấn âm 2
Ex: balloon, design, estate, machine, ciment/ si'ment/: ximăng event /i'vent/: sự kiện, hotel, advice,
mistake.
- Danh từ ghép thường nhấn âm ở từ 1
Ex: raincoat, football, leftover, household,…
3. Chú ý:
-Hầu hết những từ 2 âm tiết mà có cùng hình thức chính tả nhưng lại thuộc nhiều loại từ khác nhau
thì âm nhấn rơi vào âm 1 nếu là Danh từ và Tính từ, còn rơi vào âm 2 nếu là động từ
