1) Write two phrases which describe the meaning of the word MORAL. Highlight the one which you
feel apt in the context of the course ‘Professional ethics?’
Ans. Moral is essentially a system of beliefs about what is considered right or wrong.Also moral can be a
personal judgement or attitude towards what is right or wrong..

2) List ten important human values which you think, can be accepted universally and describe each
( Maximum 10 lines for describing each value)
Ans.
Honesty: Being honest with oneself and with the others in the society is essential .It is the quality of being
truthful and sincere. It could also be being authentic and not misleading anyone or engaging in deceitful
behaviour. Additionally it is the acknowledgment of one’s own shortcomings and taking responsibility for
them. This sincerity fosters transparency and is important for a genuine interaction among humans.
Trust: When individuals are honest with each other, it creates a foundation of trust that is predominant in
maintaining connections. Trust is the basis for almost everything one does as civilized people. Trust is the
reason we are willing to exchange our earned pays for goods and services or cast a vote for someone who
will represent our interests.
Kindness: It is often associated with positive emotions and has numerous benefits for both the giver and
recipient. It involves understanding and sharing the feelings others. Kindness is a fundamental aspect of
human behavior, often defined as quality of friendship, generosity ,and consideration. Itis a matter of
showing empathy, compassion and understanding for others.
Empathy: Encompassing kind and considerate behavior and learning to genuinely understand others
feelings ,emotions, impressions and situations even when you have not experienced the same while
providing support in form of kindness.. ”Put yourself in someone else’s s”. This proverb is an example of
empathy understanding why people do what they do in certain situations.
Courage:This deals with the ability to face danger or pain with strength and determination often in face of
overwhelming odds or fear. Even when the situations are dark or uncomfortable ,the willingness to take
risks and push through is important. Courage can be seen in small everyday actions such as standing up for
oneself, facing bullies, fighting in wars, standing up for one’s beliefs, etc.
Loyalty: Loyalty is the basic human value that builds and maintains strong relationships between
individuals and professionals. It involves a profound commitment to support someone or something even
when it becomes difficult or challenging. Loyalty refers to being faithful, reliable and reliable, an important
aspect of humanity that is often appreciated and respected.
Love: Love is deeply rooted in our evolutionary history and has an important impact on our well-being and
social interactions. From an evolutionary point of view, love is essential to the survival of mankind. The
relationship between parents and their offspring is based on love and ensures the care and protection of
vulnerable babies. This bond of care is not only observed in humans, but also in various animal species.
Peace: It is commonly understood to be a state of harmony characterized by a lack of violence, conflict or
war. However, peace means much more than a clear absence of hostilities. It also includes the presence of
positive qualities such as justice, equality, freedom and cooperation between individuals and
communities..
Respect: Respect is an essential concept in human interaction, relationships, and society. It encompasses a
deep appreciation of the inherent value and dignity of all individuals regardless of their origin, beliefs or
characteristics. Respect is the basis for harmonious coexistence and cooperation in communities, as it
involves treating others with kindness, empathy and consideration.
Guidance: Guidance can be defined as providing guidance, advice or assistance to someone. Support and
support for individuals or groups in making informed decisions, setting and achieving goals, and managing
challenges. Guidance can be provided in different areas, including education, career development, mental
health and personal development.

Ans. Integrity is the fundamental principle of ethics, which refers to the quality of honesty, the strictness
of moral principles and the application of ethical codes. It includes the coherence of actions, values,
methods, measures, principles, expectations and results.

5) Describe the term ‘ WORK ETHIC’
Ans. Work ethics relates to the appropriate behavior at the workplace. It is essentially a set of moral
values, principles and attitudes around how to act at work.

6) What do you mean by the term ‘SERVICE LEARNING’? Give an example
Ans. Service learning is a form of experiential learning that attempts to approach community service by
integrating it with academic learning, personal growth, and civic engagement. They are designed to
benefit both the community and student by providing real world experiences that enhance ones overall
character. During the chaotic world of online learning, students actually wanted to be part of a community
again, that they are not alone and somehow in the turmoil that occurred something matters.
Examples:
Translating: If you are fluent in more than one language, you can help with translating important medical
texts to literature to translating for crisis response
Be my Eyes: Providing Visual assistance to people with impaired visions through a live video call.

7) Describe the term ‘ CIVIC VIRTUE’ .


Ans. Civic virtue refers to the moral and ethical behaviors and attitudes that individuals exhibit as
responsible members of a community or society. It contains principles that contribute to the interest and
wellbeing of the community as a whole.

10) Explain how you are planning to follow the three values listed in No. 3 during your stay in NIT as
part of your B. Tech Program.

Kindness: In college life,I would follow kindness as it has a significant impact on personal growth
relationships and the overall campus community. I would like to cultivate empathy by actively listening
to others, seeking their perspectives and showing compassion for their experiences to foster a culture
of empathy on campus. I would demonstrate this through simple acts of participating in discussions
and offering a listening ear to a friend in need. I would engage in volunteer work and community
service projects and dedicate my time and energy to helping others by tutoring, participating or
supporting local charities. I would check in on friends during stressful times, offer guidance to new
students, and assistance to classmates with their studies. I would promote inclusivity and diversity. I
would also practice self-kindness involves taking care of my physical and mental well-being, setting
healthy boundaries.

Respect: Respect is something I strive to uphold in my daily life especially in the college when I have to
interact with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I will be open minded and inclusive to
learning about different cultures, beliefs and lifestyles and avoid making assumptions about people
and their background. I will also listen actively and empathetically even if I disagree with them. I would
respond thoughtfully and respect others personal space. I would speak up when I witness disrespectful
behavior. I would be punctual and reliable and avoid gossip and rumors while also using inclusive
language.

Courage: Following courage can be transformative and an empowering experience so academically I


would take challenging courses that pushes the boundaries of my knowledge and skills.I would speak
up in class ,sharing unique perspectives and engaging in intellectual debates.I would initiate
conversations with new people, participate in group activities while also standing up for myself and
others in face of injustice or discrimination. I would engage in extracurricular like joining a club,t rying
out for a sports team or participating in artistic performances. I would pursue personal
passions ,overcome fears and insecurities and make major life decisions.
