Objectives: Write the LC code  Explains the use or function of artworks by evaluating their utilization and
for each combination of art elements and principles.
 Use artworks to derive the traditional/history of the Neoclassic and
Romantic periods.

A. Reviewing Previous Lesson In the previous lesson, we identified prominent
or artists of Neoclassical and Romantic and their work
Presenting New Lesson of arts.

To further understand our lesson this time, using the


Neoclassic and Romantic artworks, we will reflect
on and derive the message convey considering the
elements of art and its principles.

picture or painting and will choose a representative
to reflect on and derive the mood, idea, or message

LINE - These marks span a distance between two


points and can be straight or curved.

- Color

COLOR - It is two or more hues employed in a


medium of presentation.

- Texture

TEXTURE - It is an element of art that is


determined by the roughness or smoothness of the
surface.

- Space

SPACE - This element of art can be manipulated


based on how an artist places lines, shapes, forms,
and color.

- Shape

SHAPE - The result of closed lines, is a two-


dimensional, flat, and only has height and width,
can either be geometric or organic.

- Form

FORM - It is when a shape acquires depth and


becomes three-dimensional.

- Value

VALUE - It is the lightness and darkness of a color.

Artwork function are classified into two (2):


Motivated & Non-motivated

Motivated Function of art (functional)


It refers to artworks that are made intentionally for
use in conscious actions of the creator or artist. It
illustrates another discipline that people could take
advantage of or make use of the artwork, utilizing
to make their lives comforted.

Examples are:

Furniture: chairs, sofa, beds and etc.

Non-motivated Function of art (non-functional)


It refers to artworks that are integral to being a
human. It transcends the individual or does not
fulfill a specific external purpose, but for internal
use that somehow balances harmony as an aspect of
being human beyond utility.

Examples are:
Paintings, Sculptures, Literatures, Music, and
Theater Arts

Six (6) Common functions we considered an art:

1. Physical Function- to serve as tools and


containers. These are objects which
function to make physically comfortable.
Example are Spoon, Building, chairs, Vase,
etc.

2. Social Function- reinforcing and


enhancing the sense of identity as family,
community, society, or civilization
awareness. Examples are Festive
Occasions, parades, dances, uniforms.

3. Personal Function- to express personal


feelings. Perhaps the artist wanted to
remind or share with the viewer’s personal
experience. Alternatively, that could be a
tragedy or memorable personal moments
that could be appreciated to live each day
as if it were the last.

4. Spiritual Function- to express spiritual


beliefs about what they believed in or the
destiny of life controlled by the force of
higher power.

5. Educational Function- reinforcing


education value through symbol and signs
to illustrate knowledge not given in words
but for discovery.

6. Political Function- to reinforce and


enhance a sense of identity and ideological
connection to specific political views,
issues, and opinions that people should be
wary of.
