MAPEH 113- PHILIPPINE, ASIAN AND MASTER WORKS OF ART
1st Semester, School Year 2016- 2017

A. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an introduction to the advance Philippine, Asian and master
works of arts. Designed to introduce the different master works of art for the students
to depict sense of nationalism and transmit cultural values and appreciate other
works/ crafts of our neighboring countries. This course will help MAPEH majors to
improve their skills and knowledge in the world of arts. To further enhance their
capabilities and understanding through varied activities added in course.

B. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the students should have
developed the following competencies
1. express positive attitude for arts appreciation,
2. depict sense of nationalism and transmit cultural values and appreciate other
culture,
3. identify characteristics of arts and crafts in specific countries
4. determine the commonalities and differences of the culture of the Southeast,
East, South, West and Central Asian countries in relation to Philippine culture,
5. identify the elements and principles of arts as manifested in Asian festivals
and theatrical forms
6. distinguish the relationship of the selected Asian festival and the festival in the
Philippines in terms of form and reason for holding the celebration,
7. create art works/ crafts that can be locally assembled with local materials,
guided by local tradition techniques
8. mount an exhibit using completed Southeast Asian-inspired arts and crafts in
an organized manner.

F. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
A student is expected to conform with the following:
1. must have at least 90% attendance of the prescribed number of days;
2. obtain satisfactory ratings for the quizzes and the major examinations given
for the course; and
3. submit projects and other requirements on time.

The students are expected to observe with the following policies:
1. attend class punctually and regularly;
2. wear proper and complete uniform;
3. present admission slip/medical certificate for excused absences;
