WARM- UP
Presentation
I refer the pupils to the pictures and ask which colours) each one could be in nature. I ask the pupils to colour in the
pictures and allow the pupils enough time to complete the activity. Then I ask pupils to point to the items and say
their colours.
Practice
The pupils work in groups. They choose a colour and make a collage with pictures of items found in nature with this
colour. During the next lesson, the pupils present their projects.
I have a class discussion, in LI if necessary, about the importance of trees in our lives. I ask: What would the world
be like without trees? What are some important things about trees? (e.g. they clean the air, they make oxygen, etc).
I refer the pupils to the picture and have a picture discussion, in L1 if necessary, about what is made from trees and
what isn't. Then the pupils circle the items that are made from trees. I check their answers.
Production
Before going into class I bring photos of tree-related items, e.g. ruler, pencil, book, desk, mouse, bed, guitar, table,
chair, recorder, bee, snake, parrot, etc. I draw a simple sketch of a tree on the board. On the branches draw simple
drawings of a piece of furniture, a musical instrument, a school and an animal. I invite a pupil to come to the board
and show him/her a photo. The pupil takes the photo and puts it under the correct category. I ask the rest of the class
for verification.
