Explanation
Biographical – The poem, “The Road Not Taken”, was inspired by the author’s real-life
friend, Edward Thomas, who unintentionally was influenced by Frost to be enlisted in
World War I. His life-changing and regrettable decision has inspired this poem to be
released. Later on, Thomas died in 1917 in the Battle of Aras.

Linguistic – The poem was intended to have words and figures of speech like metaphor,
personification, and simile, just as a gentle mocking of Thomas’s decision.

Socio-cultural – It was made also to inspire readers to think before one should decide
because in our society, there are a lot of significant choices that we should make in
order to succeed like deciding a course for college or choosing an answer from a
multiple choice test. They may be a lot of open doors and opportunities in life, but there
must be one decision we should make and all of the choices must be carefully
examined
