Dear Host Family,

I want to become an Au Pair because I love to take care of children. The best thing
about looking after children for me is that they are still carefree and discovering things, and
to see them being happy when they do new things, I find rewarding. Whether it's when
we're doing outdoor activities like soccer, basketball or just going outside to have fun with
them. I also love indoor activities like painting or teaching them to cook, whether it's
something we know how to do or something we learn with and through them.
In my previous experience with children, the older ones went to play tennis (NB: I
don't know how to play tennis at all), soccer, and water activities. And when they needed it,
I'd help them with their homework, especially in science subjects like math, or with Spanish,
as I'm fluent in it thanks to various experiences I've had in Spain. When it comes to the little
ones, like infants, it's more difficult to find activities to do, but when I was working in Spain, I
looked after the baby of one of my colleagues, and as we were lucky enough to be next to
the sea, we went there regularly, playing in the sand or swimming.

What I'm expecting from this experience is to discover another way of life, whether
it's the different culture or my future hosts, whose habits will most certainly differ from
mine.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not here just to babysit; on the contrary, it's a whole
experience. I come to bond with the whole family.
And as far as my personal goals are concerned, I'd like to leave this experience
speaking full English, having been able to visit and see what I want, and taking part in the
biggest American holidays like Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the 4th of July.

I'm Lucie, I'm 21 and I've just finished my bachelor's degree in business school. I'd
now like to do a gap year to evolve and discover, as I said, a new culture. Ever since I was a
little girl, I've always been involved in sport, and I've tried out lots of different sports, such as
basketball, horse-riding, handball, CrossFit, judo... As well as that, I love traveling, whether
with family, friends or on my own, which for me are three very different ways of traveling.
I've traveled a lot in Europe, but I haven't yet had the chance to travel to another part of the
world. I also love the world of fashion, but especially the history of the great fashion houses,
knowing how they got there, what made them successful, everything that encompasses the
history of a fashion house.
As far as my family is concerned, my parents are separated but that doesn't prevent
me from having a very good relationship with both my mother and my father. I also have
two half-brothers, aged 39 and 37. I'm very close to my family, whether it's my
grandparents, aunts or cousins. We try to have regular meals together as we all live in
different parts of France, and this allows us to see each other and do activities together.

Thank you for reading my letter. I hope to be able to talk to you soon, so that I can get to
know you better and so that you can learn more about me.

Sincerely,

Lucie
