SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES (FBS)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 90% of the students should be able to:
a. Perform different variations on table skirting
b. Learn the function, guidelines and steps in table skirting
c. Identify the types of materials needed in table skirting
d. Appreciate the different types of table skirting

B. Motivation
The teacher will show a picture of table skirting and ask the students some
questions.
C. Lesson Proper
Table Skirting - is defined as draping a table with a tablecloth in order to
give the table a formal and elegant look. Table skirts are often used at
wedding receptions, press conferences and any other social events.
Function:
Table skirting is a decorative way to hide table legs and
clutter in a home or during a special event. By concealing what is
underneath the table, they offer a simple storage solution.
Basic Steps of Table Skirting:
1. Decide on the design that fits to the occasion.
2. Prepare the needed materials
-top cloth or base cloth
-skirting cloth
-skirting cloth
-thumbtacks
-thimble
-pins
3. Lay the top cloth on the table.
4. Fastened the cloth with thumbtacks on the edge or under
the table while pulling the cloth to straighten the surface of
the table.
5. Locate the center of the table by laying another cloth from
the corner to another. Fold the laded cloth into half to
determine the center.
6. Fastened the skirting cloth using with pins at the center
with middle half of it.
7. All sides of the table should be equally skirted and
covered.
8. Apply your planned designs.
Types of Table Skirting:
1. Single Pleats
2. Box Pleats
3. Knife Pleats
4. Arrow Pleats

D. Activity
The students will write an essay about why applying table skirting is
important not just in a restaurants but in many occasions.

E. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students about what is the topic thought and the
summarization.

F. Evaluation
Perform the Different Types of Table Skirting
Directions: You will be group into 3. Each group will perform the different
table skirting and will be given 15 mins to finish each type.
