The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of people between the ages of 25 and 34 who have

been housed in the UK during the past ten years, starting in 2004.
In general, it can be clearly seen from the chart that the rate of people who choose to pay for
house rental went up, while there was an opposite trend for the proportion of house owners
throughout the period.
To begin with, the rate of homeowners in 2004 peaked at almost 60%, but then slightly dropped
to about 55% in 2006. After that, the percentage of homeowners rose moderately in 2007 and
decreased significantly to 40% in 2013. At the end of the period, the figure for people who own a
house hit its lowest point of approximately 36% in 2014.

In contrast, the proportion of people who rented homes bottomed at 20% in 2004 but then grew
steadily to a little more than 30% in 2009. The figure for renters saw a considerable increase
from 2009 to 2014 and then reached a peak at approximately 48% at the end of the period.
