Walter Keane appeared on the art scene during the 1960s with very popular paintings
known as “Big Eyes.” He soon became one of the richest artists of his time. In
interviews, he said that he painted the children he saw traveling in post-war Berlin.
Walter Keane liked to talk about himself. He seemed very proud of his works, but in
fact, it was his wife, Margaret Keane, who painted the pictures. Walter was cheating
the public for over 20 years before Margaret told the truth on a radio show. Herself,
she found out the truth only two years after marrying Walter. Nobody noticed
anything because he was covering Margaret’s signatures on her paintings with paint.

It is hard to imagine how people got along without email and telephone. However,
one of the most amazing early methods of communicating is the carrier pigeon. If
you release a pigeon hundreds of miles from its home, it will always return. It’s as
if they have a built-in GPS. In fact, we still don’t know exactly how the mechanism
works. Most researchers believe pigeons use both direction from the sun and the
earth’s magnetic field.
During World War I, an American 77th Infantry Division battalion accidentally
walked into enemy territory. Luckily, they had trained pigeons with them, so they
sent them out. One of them, a pigeon by the name of Cher Ami, flew 25 miles in
25 minutes, successfully arrived with the message and saved the lives of “The Lost
Battalion.” However, the heroic pigeon suffered wounds and died after his trip.
Cher Ami was decorated by the French government, and is now on display in the
Smithsonian’s Museum of American History.

Napisz swoją wypowiedź w języku angielskim. Podpisz się jako XYZ. Rozwiń swoją wypowiedź
w każdym z trzech podpunktów, tak aby osoba nieznająca polecenia w języku polskim uzyskała
wszystkie wskazane w nim informacje. Pamiętaj, że długość wypowiedzi powinna wynosić od 50
do 120 słów (nie licząc wyrazów podanych na początku wypowiedzi). Oceniane są: umiejętność
