Single-phase Circuit Three-phase Circuit

2. Single-phase circuit, tackles about the distribution of alternating current power through a system where
the supply's voltages all fluctuate simultaneously. The current of the system is brought about by two wires,
namely; neutral wire and phase wire. The neutral wire, which returns the current to its source, and the
phase wire, also known as the hot, live, or line wire. The phase wire carries the current to the load. It is
usually used for lighting and heating. On the other hand, Three-phase power systems, as their name
suggests, supply three distinct currents. Each phase of the three-wire AC power circuit has a distance of
120 degrees between each other. The three conductors combined creates an instantaneous current that
equals to zero, this indicates a balanced and linear load. We must know that a single-phased circuit is
used in residential households, meanwhile three-phased circuit supplies large voltages, that is if it's
compared to single-phased systems.

3. Single-phased circuit is used in residential homes, the reason behind this is because it provides small
amount of electricity. Devices that make use of the system are televisions, lights, fan, and etc.

- Three-phased circuit are used in large voltage machineries such as electric and induction motors
