ABSTRACT
Ronan Mateo C. Gabalfin, Pili National High School, Pili, Camarines Sur. June 2022, Banana
Peel (Musa Paradisiaca L.)as fertilizer, Research Adviser: Ma. Linany Q. Barnedo
Introduction
The importance of this study is how Banana help your metabolism, and plays a
important role in brain development during pregnancy and infancy, as well as
immune system health because Banana’s contain a number of vitamins and
minerals.Like Vitamin B6: A medium banana gives you about a quarter of the
vitamin B6 you should get each day.
I read in the news that a lot of fruits and especially banana were wasted because
they were all harvested but very few bought them and they were all ruined. But they
don’t know that this helps a lot, especially banana peels.Banana are a very
nutritious fruits that contain Vitamin B6.
Generally, this research study aimed to produce fertilizer from wasted banana
peels, specifically, the researcher would sought for: focuses to formulate and create
a product that is affordable.
Describe the:
1. Observed properties of the Banana Peels.
2. Test the potential use of the produced Banana Peels.
This research study focused to answer the following:
1. The big potential of banana in our community?
2. What are the observed properties of the Fertilizer?
3. What are the potential used of the Fertilizer?
The specific aim of the study is to answer the question;
a) Can Banana peel be made as a fertilizer?

Review of Related Literature
The banana (musa paradisiaca) is a yellow lengthy fruit, found in the market in
groups of three to twenty, similar to a triangular cucumber, oblong and normally
yellow. Its taste is more or less sweet, depending on the variety. The species
originated in Southeast Asia, in the jungles of Malaysia, Indonesia or Philippines.
Bananas are high in antioxidants, which can provide protection from free radicals,
which we come into contact with every day, from the sunlight to the lotion you put
on your skin. Bananas are also good for your heart. They are packed with
potassium, a mineral and electrolyte, which carries a small electric charge. As
such, potassium sends an electric signal to nerve cells that then fire to keep the
heart beating and muscles contracting; it also helps to keep a healthy balance of
water in your cells, according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School. Bananas' high
potassium and low sodium content may also help to maintain a healthy
cardiovascular system and prevent high blood pressure according to the FDA.
"High salt intake increases blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease, while
high potassium intake can help relax blood vessels and excrete sodium while
decreasing blood pressure," according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public
Health.
Banana plant, often erroneously referred to as a “tree”, is a large herb with
succulent, very juicy stem (properly “ pseudostem”) which is a cylinder of leaf
petiole sheaths, reaching a height of 20 to 25 ft ( 6-7.5m ) and arising from a fleshy
rhizome or corm. They usually yellow if the banana is ripe and green if its raw.
( Null Hypothesis )
Ho- Banana cannot be used in making a organic fertilizer
( Alternative Hypothesis )
Ha- Banana Peel can be used in making a organic fertilizer
Definition of Terms
Banana Peel - The banana peel encases and protects an ivory cream colored, semi-starchy
flesh. Banana peels are fibrous and thicker when unripe, but become thinner and sweeter as they
ripen.
Rice Husk - The rice husk, also called rice hull, is the coating on a seed or grain of rice. It is
formed from hard materials, including silica and lignin, to protect the seed during the growing
season. Each kg of milled white rice results in roughly 0.28 kg of rice husk as a by-product of rice
production during milling.

CONCEPTUAL PARADIGM
this chapter present the overall design and methodology that will be used by the
researcher in the conduct of the study.the includes the materials to be used and the
procedures/process to be employed experimental design data gathering analysis
and statistical tool.
PREPARATION OF MATERIALS
In this study, the following materials that will be needed are: A bag of banana peel
and a rice husk, half sack in total
PROCESS
After preparing the materials needed. Get the bag of banana peel, grind it, Also
prepare the ungrind banana peel. Then prepare your rice husk.Use a polyethylene
bag. In a polyethylene bag put the ungrind banana peel in the bottom of it, then put
your rice husk and mix it with your grind banana peel.
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN
The researcher prepared 2 experimental set ups. The set up “A” will be the Banana

This study focused on the results and discussions of the gathered data to answer
the problem sought in this study. This presented the results and discussion of the
study Banana peel ( Musa Paradisiaca L. ) as Fertilizer

On the Gathered Data in the first table which referes to the Banana Peel Fertilizer
marked by the chosen time, In terms of height growth I observe the height growth
On the Gathered Data in the second table which refers to the chemical fertilizer
notice that banana peel is growing well while chemical is like normal growth.
In the first set-up which is the Banana Peel used as fertilizer, based on the
table all both height and size growth have an great advantage when Banana Peel
Fertilizer is used. But I think it is based from the soil cause I use rice husk and soil.
In the second set-up which is the Chemical Fertilizer, based on the table,
both height and size are in great dis-advantage.I use normal soil
CHAPTER V
This chapter of the researcher study represents the form of conclusions and the
recommends for the solution of the problems discovered in the study
According to the gathered data from week 1 and week 2 it is obviously that
banana peel fertilizer is an effective fertilizer. The researcher followed cautions and
proper procedures in making Banana Peel Fertilizer.
The chemical fertilizer is a product from a store beside 7-11 in Santiago, Pili,
Camarines sur. This fertilizer is effective to use but its not that healthy, this may
cause stomachache, headache, etc.
Recommendation
In this study, the researcher used 1 bag of banana peel as an organic fertilizer,it
is proven by observing the growth of a 2 plants that is used in different set-ups.
The researcher also recommends to try to use this method or to make Banana Peel
as a fertilizer to avoid food waste and to make our environment healthy asf.
The researcher also recommends to stop throwing food and make a use of it,
maybe someday you can use this to invent a new process of preserving and make
use of this waste.
