Directions: Mark your responses directly onto the paper you are editing. Or, you can write your answers here.
If you are unsure, simply state that something seems off but you are unsure of what.

1. What information does the author present consistently for each source? List all that you see.
The author presents the audience about the different points on how abortion is seen and how it affects
society.
● Abortion and mental health
● How religion and race affects the opinion of abortion/ what positions does people have about abortion
● Anti and Pro abortion movements
● Risks of illegal abortion for women.
2. What type of information does the author give for a particular source (for example, does the author give
background for some and not others?)? Why does s/he do this? Indicate to the author where more or less of this
information is needed.
The author does a complete job by introducing to the audience the arguments that are discussed in the
articles. She describes completely what we can find in each of the sources that are implemented in the annotated
bibliography.
3. Where is the author giving a summary and where is s/he giving an analysis? Give specific examples from the
text. Indicate to the author where more or less summary is needed and where more analysis is needed.
The author describes by summarizing what the audience will find in the article, as well as providing
analysis by describing the methodology used by the authors of each article. The levels of summary and analysis
are well distributed throughout the annotated bibliography.
4. Where is the author subjective versus objective? Give specific examples from the text. How can the author
maintain objectivity and remove themselves from the research.
The author is objective with the help each article will give you when writing your paper and describes to
us the audience how those pages will help them specifically.
5. Briefly describe the tone and style of the writing. Is this tone and style appropriate for the audience of
scholars?
The tone that the author uses for the annotated bibliography maintains an appropriate style for the
audience to whom it is directed; the tone is clear and direct. In the parts where she describes what the source is
about she does a great job while introducing the audience to the source. It is easy for scholars to be familiarized
with the vocabulary that she uses in both the description and how the source will help her.
6. How do you think the author determined what parts of the text to include in the annotation? What makes you
think this? Do the parts that are included in the annotation help you understand the source and how it will be
used in the essay?
I think that the author only wanted to use fundamental parts of the sources that will help her to give her
audience a true statement about each of the sources. I think of this as a reason because the fragments that she
uses are straight to the main point as well as they are short to be an easy lecture for her audience. The parts that
she used in the annotation helped me to see what the author of each source wanted to share to the public.

7. How does the author use examples? Are they important? Why/Why not? Where could the author use more or
fewer examples?
In her sixth paragraph the author gives the audience an example of how women's health is taken care of
by hospitals until it is very deteriorated. I think the information provided by the author is important for the
audience to have more information about the problem being discussed. Perhaps the author could add another
example in one of her bibliographic notes just to further highlight some of the themes in each article she
discusses.
8. What three things does the author deserve praise for the annotations?
The author does a great job of introducing us to each of the pages, gives the audience an understanding
of the methodology used in each of the articles, and describes how each source will help her and what she likes
about each one.
9. What three things should the author fix before submitting the annotated bibliography?
● The author could be more specific at the time of mentioning the author of the source, instead of using
she/ he you could put the last name of the author.
● “This article added more information about mental health and abortion.” The author could be specific on
how to express this sentence in the 7th article that she includes in her annotated bibliography. I think
you could say that “the information added more information to my knowledge or my paper about mental
health ….”
● The MLA formatting should be revised and fixed in the fist part where it says your name, the class and
the date.
