IV. Learning Procedures
A. Motivation MOVEMENT MATH ACTIVITY: BRAIN EXERCISE (with PE and ICT Integration)
Do the brain break exercise by answering multiplication games following the corresponding
movement for the correct answer. Choose your exercise from the choices in the video.

C. Establishing a WOULD YOU RATHER ACTIVITY (Critical Thinking Skills)

Purpose for the
Lesson (ENGAGE) Let students talk with a partner about what they would rather have and why. Once they have
discussed, have students share their reasons why.

✓ Would you rather be given ₱ 10,000.00 or ₱ 22.00 which will be doubled every day for 10
days? Why?

Based on your activity answer the following questions:

✓ What did you do to compare the amount given in the choices?
✓ In the second choice (Php 22), what will be the amount after 10 days?
✓ Given the result, what would you rather have ₱ 10,000.00 or ₱ 22.00 which will be doubled
every day for 10 days?

D. Presenting PRESENTATION
Examples/Instances Look at the figure below.
of the Lesson
(EXPLORE) What are the dimensions given in the figure? Length? Width? Height?
How many small cubes are there?
How can you solve the number of small cubes without just counting it in the figure?

To get 8 as a product, we multiply 2 by itself 3 times

E. Developing Mastery What is an Exponential Notation?

(EXPLAIN)

✓ A number written with base and exponent.

REMEMBER

A non-zero number raised to the zero power is always equal to 1.
Example: 40 = 1

A number raised to the first power is always equal to itself.
Example: 41 = 4

✓ Any number raised to the second power is always multiplied by itself.

Example: 42 = 4 x 4 = 16

F. Finding Practical GROUP ACTIVITY (with ESP Integration)

Applications and Pupils will be grouped into four (4). Each group is assigned to do different tasks which will be
Skills in Daily Living presented in the class after 5 minutes. Rubrics is given as scoring guide for the activity.
(ELABORATE)

GROUP 1: BUILD ME BOX

Build a box using the foldable cube. Measure the dimension of the box using a ruler and give its
volume.

GROUP 2: EXPONENT MATCH-UP

Match the corresponding exponential notation to the given value in the set of cards and vice versa.

GROUP 3: SAVINGS PLANNER

Complete your savings planner for one week. Starting from ₱ 3.00 in Day 1, your savings triples
every day for 7 days. What will be your savings after 1 week? Give its exponential form.

GROUP 4: NUMBER LADDER

Discover the answer to the trivia below by performing the Number Ladder Activity given by the
teacher.

Evaluation
Written Test • Give the value of the following numbers expressed in exponential notation:

1. 100 =
