Justifying the Means: KNHS Senior High School Class Shifting

The growing demand for knowledge has made a remarkable impact on Kapalong National
High School’s mode of delivering quality education as its population shoots up this SY 2023-
2024. Classroom shortage and a minimal number of teaching forces became the school’s
baseline towards implementing the shifting of classes for Senior High School students.
However, does the end justify the mean?

Ever since the implementation of the shifting of classes, the first period classes of the Senior
High School start at as early as 6:00 am in the morning - about an hour and a half earlier to
the usual 7:30 am call-time way back then. Hence with this regard, students are required to
be at school at least 15-30 minutes before the clock strikes 6:00; needed to wake up as early
as 4:30 in the morning or even earlier for those who live kilometers away from school. In the
early hours of the morning, most of the students struggle with their modes of transportation,
particularly concerning their safety and even skipping breakfast just to get to school on time.

However on the positive note, the shifting of classes enables the students to go home early,
do their homework and other school-related activities, and can spend extra free time for
themselves and family.

The school’s way of meeting the ends towards the overwhelming demand for knowledge this
SY 2023-2024 through implementing the shifting of classes is one of life’s permanent
constants - change. We either adapt or get used to it - “fake it ‘til you make it”, they say.
Hence, with the students' compliance to such regulation, everyone’s safety and wellness
should still be of priority.
